  1. Hello! Hope someone can help as I have tried so many different options and I'm losing the will to live - I'm at the point of resorting to MS Word! I've had a look at other posts on similar issues but haven't found a solution that works for me. I've just started working on a magazine for Work, when I export as a PDF our logo (.png file) on the cover has a messy grey outline around it - I've tired all sorts of PDF export options for resolution, compression, turning include layers off etc. and it makes no difference. I've just switched to Affinity Designer persona (whilst in Affinity Publisher) and exported the same document to PDF and the logo displays fine with no outline... This isn't the first time I've had this problem, when I was working on our Annual Impact Report I managed to export it once with the logo displaying fine. Unfortunately I needed to make changes to it whilst at the Office and not on my home PC and couldn't remember the exporting settings I'd used originally - I have yet to get this document to export to PDF without the outline, no matter what I do. Not even switching to the Affinity Designer persona helps. Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong? Happy to upload the file if that helps. Best wishes Claire
  2. Hi there, I was trying to batch process my blender rendered .exr files to png and even though the exr files are saved in RGBA, I cannot get them into png format with a transparent background. Regardless what I do, the backgorund is alsways black as one or more of the render layers in the exr shows a black background. I would only want the top view (RGBA) layer with the transparent background. How can I do that? Thanks so much for your help! Best, Hidari
  3. Hello Affinity members, I am creating assets for a game in Affinity Designer 1.7.3.481. For that I am using isometric 2:1 grid. In the editor everything looks fine. But after I export it, the resulting PNG has a strange outline or shadow around it. Please see picture attached. This is a 512x256 PNG, the outline is there no matter the export resolution. How do I get rid of this? It looks awful in the game. EDIT: I downloaded latest Affinity Designer version and the problem persists.
  4. Ok so when i apply a alpha and save as .png all the color channel data in the area with alpha 0 is lost, is there a way to keep the other color channels intact or unaffected by the alpha channel?
  5. I have a PNG image for a book cover, and need it to merge with the black tone of the background. But even though it is a PNG, and I would expect (in my ignorance) the image to merge with the background, you can see a grey box around the image. Is there a way to have the image sit on the background without the grey box showing? I could try changing the whole background to the same grey box color, but that's not my preference. I've upload all relevant files here. Thanks. M:M_AFF_test_1.afphoto
  6. I have a PNG file that is a monochrome skyline silhouette (see attached). I want to fill the grey buildings with another color. How do I do this? I have watched the tutorials but the Color Picker and Fill tools don't seem to do the job. I can do this easily in Irfanview, surely we should be able to do it in Designer. What am I missing?
  7. I have an icon in raster format. Icon is stored as .png or .jpg file. Icon is drawn with black or gray color on white background. HOW CAN I CHANGE THE ICON COLOR AND KEEP THE IMAGE QUALITY AS IT IS AND KEEP THE BACKGROUND WHITE AS IT IS ? I have installed Affinity Photo and Affinity Designer so solution can be in both of this software. Please see attached file - I would like to change the icon from dark gray to red - how can I do that ? Thank you !
  8. Hello, recently I was extracting a logo from a white background in Affinity Photo 1.8.6 and imported it into the latest version of Final Cut Pro and noticed some noise around the edges. I thought at first I just didn't look close enough when I masked it, but when I exported with black in the background it looked clean. I attached an image that was blowup so the overall quality is not great, however I placed the keyed version on top and cropped it so you can see a side by comparison of what I'm talking about. The left side has the image with the background included in the PNG, the right side is keyed over the left image. As you can see, there is noise all around on the right side. I created the same masking in photoshop and it was clean. Has anyone had this issue?
  9. If you export an image with 96 DPI as PNG, the PNG file has a wrong resolution, namely 96.01 DPI. This makes all my images unusable because I am a software developer and use the images in my software to display them in the GUI. I am dependent on the correct resolution. As long as the error is not fixed, I have to correct the resolution in a different program every time afterwards. This is very annoying.
  10. Hi, I'm using 1.8.3. When I export my slices and select PNG, no matter if in Document Setup I unchecked the transparent background, I still get Transparent backgrounds both in the Sections preview panel, both as a result. I want my slices to have a white background.
  11. I started this thread a while back , but no answers, still doing this on new version. Thanks Gary
  12. Hey Getting are really weird output on PNG slices. Something is a miss with the slice module. Never used to get these issues, including and still unanswered naming of slices and artboards. When I ouput the file to PNG, it saves in a odd format. Hard to explain, see pics below. They are even wrong when posted to INSTAGRAM and FACEBOOK. Any thoughts. I have now been outputting in JPG , no issues there. But something is miss in PNG. so the last image shows you how it is in DESIGNER, but how it shows when uploaded. Background is all dark, and top HD logo not show MULTIPLY layer style correctly. Gary
  13. Hi there, is there any plan to introduce more options for compressing PNG image exports? I've noticed I can add my transparent PNGs created in Affinity to an online image compressor like Optimizilla and it will compress the image considerably, whilst retaining the quality and the alpha transparency. It uses something called "Indexed RGB" colours to do this, reducing file sizes by between 40% and 60% for most PNGs with alpha transparency. In Affinity, there is just the option of 16 Bit or 8 Bit (dithered). When exporting logos for the web, this helps improve Pagespeed Insights scores, in addition to reducing load times.
  14. HI, I have artwork in my print project. The client also wants it as an image in the same size but 150ppi. After exporting to tiff, I have a 300ppi image (because the project was for printing) and I have to reshape it! Maybe add a checkbox for the resolution of the exported image, please.
  15. Hi, So i tried exporting a illustration into figma, but the layers just don't align, i will share my original view and the export view, can anybody help me out i am running on a time frame here PS. the PNG comes out A-OK Regards -Noobie37-letter.svg the PNG view SVG view
  16. I am a newbie for affinity photo. I am trying out how to make a photo or an image background transparent. I have tried the above method and I still get the white background as saved file. Can someone show me a YouTube link if there is any? (I have found one link and I also tried what it says but still I get a white background instead).
  17. Hi, I've having issues when exporting transparent PNG files. I've had a look at previous posts and I can't seem to find anything that fixes this. I have the resampler set to bilinear when exporting and performance to bilinear too. I also have the settings as 300dpi. PalmTree.afdesign
  18. A recent video about removing backgrounds points out a web-based technology that would be outstanding if it could be licensed by and incorporated into Affinity Photo or available as a plug-in. The video link is below (screen shot is from the video). It would be very, very useful for images with complex foregrounds. https://youtu.be/_N5EIn90bWw
  19. Hi First, may you pardon me for my approximative english, it is not my native language ;-) I am a happy user of Affinity Designer/Publisher/Photo since a couple of years. I have switched from Adobe, and I have been earlier a heavy user of PhotoShop/Illustrator/InDesign (20 years) until the monthly fee. My question is about the presets of png/gif export on an image in Designer : in my webdesign workflow, I use a vector program to create tables or charts and I export them in jpg/png/gif ; I need to keep little weights. I have noticed that such images generated from Designer are often heavier than from PhotoShop ... My question: is it possible to access fine parameters like in PhotoShop? In PhotoShop it is possible to choose a color reduction method (perception, selective, adaptative, ...), and the dithering method (without, diffusion, pattern, ...). In Designer, the only choice for png is png-24 or png-8 (with diffusion)... and the expert window don't have these parameters I join screen captures of PS : under the "1." the export parameters of PS ; under the "2.", you can see that when exporting an image with and without dithering, there is a significant difference : in my example, setting the dithering to "none" gets an image from 310,1K to 165,4K (all other settings are unchanged). I would like to know if it is possible to do that with the Affinity Suite? Or maybe make this suggestion to the development team ;-) Best regards, Patrick
  20. How does one get a png file into Affinity Designer please? I am trying to use one of the twenty png paper designs in the DAUB® Watercolours & Washes package. The files are png format. William
  21. Yo, I´m currently using Affinity Photo Version 1.8.3.641 and I encountered an error when exporting in PNG format, the photos are incompletely exported, some areas disappear as if they were badly cropped, save the same work in different files and it was still present the error. In other documents if I manipulate the transparency of the image for example from 100% to 50% the elements disappear when exported in PNG. I tried to put other elements on top of that layer and try again but the layer that was manipulated with its transparency disappears. does anyone else have that problem? I attached three images to, one as shown in my work area, one with the export settings and the third with the final result
  22. Good morning I have a jpeg photo which I would like to save as png with a transparent background.Would someone kindly let me know how this is done please. Many thanks
  23. I placed an image into a Publisher document page and added text within the image area. After grouping all of the elements, with the group selected I exported to JPEG ("Selection with background"). The resulting JPEG file contained a thin white border that was not in the original file. Then I tried exporting using the "without background" setting. Same result. Then I tried it as a PNG ("selection with background"). Same result. Next I tried it as a PNG without background and finally the thing was exported without the thin white rule. This has happened several times when I've exported a selection to JPEG. (The quality setting is always 85 or higher.) So it doesn't appear to be some peculiarity of a particular image. I don't want to have to export first to PNG, then open the PNG file in some other program and re-save as JPEG. Is there some way to save from Publisher to JPEG without the unwanted rule around the image?
  24. I am trying to create a digital design from one of my drawings. I autotraced it in Inkscape, cleaned it up in Designer and now have to export it as a png file. The image now looks a bit pixelated. How can I fix this? The end result has to be a png file. Is there an easier way to convert my drawings to png? Please help!
  25. As a test with this program i have decided to make a small project to understand the basics of how to handle it. So far so good, until i export the final result into an 8-colour indexed PNG file to save space. The project has nothing but two colours, white and the background colour, so the remainder of the palette just exists for antialiasing, however, i am finding that on the exported image, all the solid white areas have dithering on them, the edges are correctly antialiased as expected, but the white areas have an irregular pattern on them. I have provided the project file to someone i know who runs Designer on macOS and on their end, and they seem to have ran into the same problem as i did. The project settings used are: Preset: None, Palletized: Yes, Pallette: Automatic, Colours: 8, and "Don't export layers hidden by export persona" checked. This is being done in Designer 1.8.3.641 The problem does not exist while exporting as PNG without any additional parameters. Although, SOMETIMES, setting PNG-8 as a render preset will give an image with banding, instead of dithering. Attatched is a render at the highest resolution and the project file on my PC, also the renders from my friend's Mac for comparison's sake. Windows 10 Classic Wallpaper.afdesign
