Nothing too important but: The help window is behaving a bit unusual if using the windows shortcuts to move the window to a different screen. Two things to reproduce with 2 Screens. The first is: Open the Help-Window Press Windows-Key + Shift + Arrow Up Nothing happens, expected: scale window to full screen hight (Designer-Window does it if not maximized and with arrow down the opposit) The second: Open the Help-Window Maximize the Help-Window Press Windows-Key + Shift + Arrow Right 4 times (or 3 or 2 to see the difference) Disable maximize Window is out of visible area, expected: window should only move between the 2 displays -

Hello, I've download the version 1.5.0.12 of affininity designer on Widows 10. Then I made a design and I would export it but I don't found the "export" button. So if smb. can explain me how to export on this version I would be very happy. Thanks for reding this Felix -
Hi everyone. Absolutely loving Affinity Photo (recently moved from PS). I am currently trying to create artificial light on a portrait, I am not a fan of the lighting filter, so I am trying to use a paint brush to create the effect, I usually get the general idea and then toy around with the colour, however, it will not allow me to change the colour once I have added the effect.. Any ideas? Thanks! -
I am not very into vector and AD was like a magic wand to me. All of a sudden I knew how to create vectorised artwork on the fly, so to speak. I thought. Then I was asked to work on a project which would have to be vector. I imported a logo I had made earlier and exported as an eps-file. All vector. I made an elegant brush which I thought was vector. And when it all looked as I wanted it to in AD, I exported it as .eps and sent it to the print shop - and was asked why I sent them a bitmap when they wanted vector. After lots of tearing my hair out accompanied by swearing in multiple languages, I finally learnt what was wrong. If you import an image into your artwork, using the tool for that, it is being transformed into a bitmap image, no matter what it was earlier. You need to open up the vector-file in AD as an individual file and then copy it and then paste it into your artwork. Then it remains a vector-file with all layers and info intact. And the brushes you create in AD are not vector, not even when you create it in Vector Persona. It is bitmap. The solution here was to export it and having it traced, something a very kind user helped me out with, since I don't have programmes with such a feature - a feature I hope will be added to AD soon. So, my question is whether it shouldn't come up a warning to us vector-dummies? I know, it might be annoying for the true pros to see pop ups notifying about such as they consider self-evident, but there are solutions to that. Either being able to turn that off or on in the preferences or having an option in the message: Don't show this message again. Just a thought. It would have saved me for a lot of frustration. And probably helped a lot of others as well.

Very good for the help of many who are testing this software is in English at the moment there are several who are Latin Americans which to facilitate support forum would not be bad to open a category in Spanish -
Unfortunately the Help in menu "Help" is only linked to the English version. But there is already a German help. In Win 7 you can find it here: C:\Program Files\Serif\Affinity Designer Public Beta\DesignerHelp\Contents\Resources\de.lproj\index.html German: Die Hilfe im Menü "Hilfe" ist leider nur mit der englischen Variante verknüpft. Aber es gibt bereits eine Deutsche Hilfe. Man findet sie unter Win 7 hier: C:\Program Files\Serif\Affinity Designer Public Beta\DesignerHelp\Contents\Resources\de.lproj\index.html

In my Affinity (Windows Beta), it worked fine the first time, but now, after I have exited the app, It will not allow me back in. It reaches the end of the "Affinity Designer" screen with the V shapes, but then it just closes! I have tried going into Affinity every way I know of, but I can't get in! Please help! :unsure:

I chose English as my Affinity Photo UI preferred language. My main OS chosen language, however, is Canadian-French. When I want to access Help from its menu, I get the Canadian-French version, which is not ...helping. Now, I can switch the OS language to English but then the keyboard mapping is all messed up. Any ideas? -
I'm new to affinity, trying it out to see if I like it. But I'm struggling here.... How do you delete or erase part of a line segment in a shape? I have two overlapping shapes, and I want to make them into one and delete the overlap. I rasterized the shape, but is there a way to un-rasterize it in its new form? Or is there a way to get a cleaner cut from a line segment with out it being pixelated in the first place? -
When a help topic is opened, it always opens in the middle of the Window. It should remember its last used size and position. The Help window can be resized and moved to the side to keep it in view while learning the application. However, it cannot be minimized. The menu button is in the white area of the help topic, but the search button is in the black toolbar area. The menu button should be moved up, perhaps to the top left corner? The blue back and forward buttons have poor contrast against the black toolbar The search field also suffers from poor contrast. The search field background should be light grey with black text. F1 does not open help. This is a must for a Windows application. The user can assign it, but it should be the default. Searching for "Frame" or "Text" doesn't find the Frame Text topic. Multiple help windows can be opened simultaneously. Is it possible to have them dock together as a tabbed dialogue? No doubt your graphic designers could do better, but here's a quick mockup.

I have just received the beta copy of Affinity for windows 10. :Like many others - I was looking forward to upgrading from PPX9 and getting something great. BUT my initial experiences are only annoying which has dampened my whole feeling. 1. My login was not remembered on this forum yet I have used it for a long time (12 years) with PagePlus, from X3 to X9. I had to create a new login as mine was obviously there and so I could use it again. 2. I opened a page and started to play around. Let's open a square and give it rounded corners, and fill it. Very basic but I am just starting and learning. (I thought the commands used in PP would work but they seem to have been thrown away). I could make a square and round the corners but only one at a time, not all together. But I could not fill it with color. Stupid me, I thought. Oh well, look in the help. Fill color = nothing. I click on the 'fill' next to the 'rectangle' nothing changes. So I thought I'd try a tutorial, nothing either. There seems to be nothing much to help people who are not full-time illustrators or similar. Is Affinity for them and not for people like me who would use it to make printed brochures and online graphics???? Why does it take sooo long to open a new document?? I draw a line and want to widen it, nothing works. My joy and anticipation at getting Affinity has evaporated. I read in one tutorial that I may need to buy and download another program to make Affinity work, is this true? You may as well say good bye to me and most of those others I talk to, we don't have funds nor the will to buy to make work. I even now doubt you will reply to me. Good thoughts intended only here. Hello! My names Matt and I work for retail company that designs fashion products. ( I work in It please excuse my poor design lingo) We have recently been looking at Affinity designer as an alternative to Photoshop. It looks like a great product and we are hoping to roll it out to about 20 users. Background info: We currently use Photoshop an Illustrator CS5 We do not use much of the adobe suite Some users do very basic tasks - changing colours, resizing minor editing. During testing we had a few of the designers come down to try out the trial. The more experienced users got to grips with most of the basics but they had some issues with the following: Creating brushes was very difficult for them - Before they would make a small drawing using the brush tool in illustrator (a stitch pattern for instance) and then they would turn that into a brush.I have attached an example of the pages that they would use as brushes. The issue is when opened Affinity creates layers of every single little line (or stitch) this makes it very difficult to select them as a whole - is there an easy way in affinity to take these patterns and turn them into a brush? I tried basic dragging and dropping into the brush window but that didn't work very well! Another issue that the users faced was filling an area with colour, They would select a line by clicking on it or selecting a few lines that create a whole shape - how would they fill this? in Photoshop they found this a lot easier - is there a particular way in affinity to fill an area that has been outlined by lines? I do apologies in advance for anything that's unclear and please let me know if you'd like some more information and I will explain it as best I can. on some of the photos I have inserted into my document there is a pink outline around them, but on others there is not.... what's the significance of this outline? example: the pink outline is around the photo of the pumpkins, but not around the photos of the ducks or the horse.

I formerly suggested this to the Affinity Team via FB. They told me to post this feature request on the forum, so all other users can vote/comment on this idea. What is it about? Simple: I suggested that Affinity/Serif should found an IRC-Channel for a simple User2User-Support like one would have via twitter or FB. Buddy2Buddy live. Q&A, Exchange of ideas etc.....(maybe separate) One would be able to link to results by posting pastie urls. (pastebin, imagebin, etc.) and so on. I just think this kind of guidance through other users is much more live and to the heart... And in conversations that you have alongside manipulating your pix you might be able to stroke out "errors in reasoning", that may be immanent because you misunderstood things in first or since you did not know something important for your scheme in first place. And there are so many IRC-Applications that would offer much usability(features) for such an user2user support channel. An official channel would be cool, if someone already opened an unofficial "Affinitiy Photo" channel on IRC let me, and the other users know and comment on this post. Thank you!

Need to create a composite image and need to know how to extract a subject from one image and put into a background image. I've tried using the selection brush, but had no luck. So to sum it up Copy a subject out of one in image and paste into the background. Any help much appreciated.

When I use Illustrator on mac, I like to use the shortcut (I think): cmd + shift + ? It jumps to the program search bar and allows me to quickly find a feature that would otherwise have taken several seconds to find. In Affinity I have to click "help" to achieve the same result. It's a bit of a fag and I was wondering if there was a quick fix to achieve the same thing in Affinity. Best.

Hi, I downloaded the trial version of Affinity Designer on December 10. I did not have a chance to check out many features between work and holiday visitors. When I viewed a video, I didn't quite understand what I was trying to accomplish and only last night (12/26) did I actually have a chance to move forward with the purchase. I received an email that the trial had ended just I purchased the app. Somehow I purchased Affinity Photo, which was not my intention. I now see there is an app for Affinity Designer and a different app for Affinity Photo. Also, when I downloaded the trial of the Affinity Design app, the price was clearly $39.99. There was no mention of a cut-off (December 24th) on that page. Last night when I accidentally purchased Affinity Photo, the price was still $39.99, I thought. When I opened the app is when I realized that this was not the app that I thought I purchased. Can you please assist me with what I intended to purchase. Sorry for the mix-up, I just didn't realize there were two different apps. When I saw $39.99, I did not distinguish the difference, I just paid for the app. It was the same price that I saw on 12/10 when I originally downloaded the trial. Again, there was no mention of a cut-off date. Can you please send me an email and tell me what I should do, I do not want the Affinity Photo app. After reading, I don't think I was the only one confused by the information displayed. I almost felt deceived by one offer, that actually represented a different offer. Thanks for your immediate assistance! There is no specific link available to get help with this matter. I am reaching out to Affinity Support which appears to be anyone with knowledge of the program. I need the person that can help me with this particular issue. When you buy affinity besides tutorial is there some info on how to get started and what all the tools mean. I have used some of the tools on photoshop elements but thus software has more. Thanks ron -
I could use some help. I have some typed some phrases with glyphs and I want to export them as SVG for use with vinyl cutters. When I export the file as SVG and open it in my other software the phrase is all wonky. I have read that I would need to pull it into inkscape and trace it there but I don't seem to be able to do that either. I even downloaded an app "super vectorizer" with no luck. Can anyone give me some ideas here of what I am doing wrong? I have attached the file Kiss Me Now.afdesign -
