  1. Hi, 1. I think it is crucial to have the possibility to align node handles in 45 degree steps AFTER they are created. Preferably with a keystroke like alt-shift or something like that, of course. So far it is only possible to so WHILE creating the nodes. 2. I would love to to be able to change both node handles of a curve at the same time in order to keep them equal. So far I just can make them equally one after the other. Thanks and best
  2. Hello all, I'm using then new update ( v1.5 ) but I can't seem to find the custom spacing option. I've added the spacing buttons to my toolbar and I've checked the layers menu under "alignment" but I can't find where I can set that all my selected objects are spaced 32px from each other. I used to be able to do that no problem and It's important for me to build custom artboard templates for my team. Did it move, or was it removed? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Jimmy Xander
  3. It would be great for a UI designer to define margins and paddings for objects' bounding boxes and then add an option for enabling margin/padding alignment.
  4. Hello Affinity Team, I've been waiting for this feature forever but I still don't see it in Affinity Designer Beta 1.5. So here it is. Would it be possible to add Vertical Alignment for Text inside Textboxes? Like this: - Top - Middle - Bottom That would be great. :) Thank you very much, Philippe Côté
  5. Forgive me if this has already been addressed. I did some looking, but couldn't find anything. In AD, is there a way to make tools such as align (object), text tool, and nudge respect the current rotation of the canvas with regard to creation and manipulation? I'm sure it's no easy task, and understand why the program would behave this way—respecting the object's coord/origin according to the artboard—but it just seems counterintuitive at times. Don't get me wrong, the ability to rotate the canvas is fantastic, especially when it comes to packaging work, but not being able to manipulate objects in an intuitive way when the canvas is rotated counteracts the benefit a little. Thanks! :)
  6. Hello, I am working professionally on many projects with AI every day, but I am really missing the relative alignment feature of aligning a object or more objects relatively to another object. On AI when I select multiple objects (like squares), then keep the "Alt" Key pressed and click on one of the objects then i can start aligning relatively to it (the clicked object will be the "main object", every other object gets aligned to this one). I haven't found this feature anywhere in AD. Is this feature on your roadmap or is it already implemented in a different way? It's one of the features that i am really missing, at the moment I have to stick to AI (sadly).
  7. The system crashes when you click on the small arrow next to the text alignment options in the toolbar. See attached gif.
  8. Hi, I very often use the "align to object" feature in Illustrator. Would love to see a similar feature in Designer.
  9. Hi, Firstly can I just say that I love the tool, it feels so great to use! One feature that I would love to see implemented is an 'align to last selected' or 'align to first selected' option. So basically whenever you use the align buttons they would always snap to whichever object the user selected last, or first, depending on the user's preference. Inkscape has a great option menu which allows you to select which you would like to align to based on your preferences. In my opinion this is even more useful than the 'align to key object' system which Illustrator uses, as the key object system requires an extra click which slows things down. Anyway keep up the good work!
  10. While working with vector nodes, have holding +control snap handles to major degrees, i.e. 0, 90, 45, etc. Currently, +shift just locks the angle (and making handles lock equal distances from the main node), but it’s harder to find exact alignments. You could go as far as say +control to snap to major degrees document wide, and even adding +control +alt to adjust the degree snapping according to the angle of the node. But, I'd love at least document wide to quickly lay out points with a little more control.
  11. I'm a veteran Illustrator user who recently purchased AD. I am now comparing "Stroke" features between the two apps. Here are my questions: 1) Sketch a rectangle and give it an opaque color, then sketch a second rectangle above it and give your second rectangle X% Opacity. Now tick / Enable "Stroke" in the Effects. Slowly move the Radius to the right and you will then suddenly see your X% Opacity become complete Opaque. Why? 2) In Illustrator I can put a Stroke on a rectangle and then make that stroke to be Centered or Inside or Outside. But AD is very different. When I sketch a rectangle in AD and then when I add a "Line" to it, I am presented with a large number of options, but the ability to move that Line to the Outside or Inside is mysteriously absent. So I was thinking to myself, well, maybe the developers of AD want me to use the "Stroke" Effect instead. And truly, when I apply a Stroke, I have the 3 options available (Center, Inside, Outside). But the disadvantage to using Stroke is that the corners are always curved. Why is that? 3) Stroke does not seem to be a replacement for Line. Try this. Sketch a rectangle but set Fill and Line to NONE. Now tick/Enable Stroke and expand the Radius. Nothing appears on screen at all! But as soon as I give it a fill color, then the Stroke magically appears. It seems a bit strange. If Line would give me the option to have Center or Inside or Outside, this wouldn't matter as I could then use Line instead. 4) Illustrator empowers me to add multiple strokes to the same object, and when I set those strokes behind the fill, I can then do some pretty interesting things. I cannot seem to find a way to do this in AD. 5) It seems that AD only allows me to add a gradient to a Stroke but not to a Line. This is unfortunate because I cannot seem to create a Stroke WITHOUT rounded corners. 6) Illustrator CC has some powerful new Corner features for Strokes. For example, I can sketch a rectangle and then give it a 5pt stroke and then I can grab any one of the 4 round tabs and drag inward to give all 4 corners the same roundness. Furthermore, I can use Illustrator's Direct Selection tool to draw a selection rec around only on of the corners, which will enable me to round that one corner independently of the others. How can I accomplish the same in AD? 7) Dashed lines and Arrowheads are very common in my work but such features appear to be absent in the current version of AD? 8) In Illustrator, I can sketch a line or Stroke a box and then have "Width Profile" that I can choose in the Stroke panel. This can be very useful at times. For example, in Illustrator, if I sketch a line that is 26pt thickness and then give it Width Profile 4, the 26pt thickness decreases linearly to zero, giving it the shape of a spike. Can such be done in AD? 9) Another tool I always use in Illustrator when dealing with Strokes and Objects is the CUT tool. I can't seem to find it in AD. How do I sketch a rectangle and then cut pieces out of it? Sorry for all the questions, but Strokes and Corners and Cutting are the biggest part of what I do in Illustrator, and such is what I intend to do in AD as well. Thanks.
  12. Hi, I have worked during one day to test or to evaluate the possibilities of Affinity Designer. First : no crash during this (very long) session : Good job ! But, I have some difficulties : - I don't found the posiibility to copy/paste a color (and only the color) or to copy/paste an effect. It's... laborious. :-) - Some bahavior are strange : when I resize on object, I use the Shift key to respect the ratio. When I resize a text, I use the Shift key NOT TO respect the ratio. - I don't find the possibility to align an object to an other one without moving the second one. I don't success what I want to do. - when I type a precise value in an input field (for sizing an object for example), if touch the top of my mouse : the value is changed !!! It's very very boring ;-) Well done, it's sorme ergonomic details. Of course, I appreciate that coulod be solve... yesterday ;-) Thank you for this very powerful product. Thank's for your help Fabrice - From Bordeaux (France) PS : An other suggestion : translate it in french !!!! PS 2 : http://www.plannning-medical.com ( The logo was created with Affinity Designer, the previous version and the other graphics elements was created with Illustrator).
  13. A) I laid out a 978 grid last night with guides, and it took me a while, and thought how cool it would be if I could save this and load it from the guide manager (which is a very cool thing you have, btw). I see grid and guide improvements on the roadmap, but nothing specific so I just want to throw this out there: 1. Automatic guide creation based on 3 fields: "number of columns", "column width", "gutter width" 2. Saving guide layouts as presets. 3. Centering the guides. 4. Click the ruler to bring up the guide manager, or just a button/hotkey (bonus request). Now, I saved the file, and can open the file and do a save as, but I am stuck at the width of the canvas. If I want to widen the page, I need to recalculate everything and move all the guides around. But, if I could widen the page, and hit a guide centering button, oh my...that would be beyond fantastic. I could be dreaming, so feel free to pinch me if I have asked for the impossible. B) Alignment/Smart guides 1. Hot key to press that will show the space between either objects or guides 2. Lines that show up while dragging objects to show how they align in relation to other objects, For example, if I layout a box and put a logo in it and move the logo around, when I hit the center a small line could pop up to show I have hit the center. Obviously, I am coming from the perspective of a web designer and not an illustrator. But I can see myself using Affinity for my layouts, with just a few additions. There's something really refreshing about your product and the way you guys are doing things. Looking forward to watching you expand.
  14. While dragging one layer, it should stuck for a while at the edge of the other layer. Is that a feature which I can enable from anywhere?
