  1. From looking around it sounds like once you buy Affinity Designer you can install it on as many computers as you wish, just you can only use it on a single computer at a time. This is great because I have multiple computers that I work on. Where there might be a problem is I work both on Windows and on Mac. So Ideally an license would also be cross-platform. From what I can tell though this is not the case, I would have to buy a license for Windows and a separate license for Mac. Is this correct?
  2. Hi Affinity – I have a new laptop and would like to download my Affinity Photo and Designer apps to it. All Mac platforms I read how to do that via the Mac App Store in one of your threads but unfortunately I had to change my Apple ID so I cannot access it through the Purchased Tab. Can you help me find another way? Regards Carole Havercroft (GryphonArt)
  3. Hello, I was wondering if within Affinity Designer is there a "Free transform tool" to allow perspective distort with shapes, this is something that can be done within illustrator where you can take two points and can move them together or further apart with equal distance like the example below. You can kinda do this with the "Corner" tool set to straight but this is set to only one angle when perspective distort can change the angle. Thank you for your time and I hope you have a great day.
  4. I am working on a Mac and when I import a PDF file into Affinity Designer the fonts disappear. I have attached screenshots of the problem. Any help would be great thanks!
  5. Bonjour, Je désire acheter Affinity Photo et Designer pour mon iMac et mon PC portable. Faut-il que j'achète deux fois la licence ? Bien cordialement, Sebastien
  6. I created a new document using Affinity Photo on my ipad and saved to my Dropbox. When I tried to open it on my iMac (Affinity Photo 1.5.2 and I also tried it in Affinity Design 1.5.5) I got an error message that it was created in a "newer version" and couldn't be opened.
  7. Hello, Do you think you could tell me what "Soft Proof" is? I click on it and the default preset looks quite nice on the photo. Should I use it for just getting a certain look or is "Soft Proof" something else that I shouldn't touch? Thanks!
  8. I've read in several places that I'd need to buy a separate license for Mac and Windows. Personally I think this is a poor business practice. In my particular case, I work on a Mac in my office and Windows at home. If I wanted Designer, Photo and the upcoming layout program, I'd essentially have to buy SIX programs to get three. Sure, I'm getting the shaft with Adobe, but at least I'm able to use the same license on more than one computer and more than one operating system. Please consider working on a way for potential customers to have the ability to work cross platform without having to spend money unnecessarily. Thank you.
  9. Hi how does affinity photo perform while editing raw files using a 2017 Imac I5 8GB Memory Imac? I head photoshop and lightroom is very slow, I just wondered if anybody used affinity with this spec mac? Darren
  10. Hello, Wouldn't it be easier if we could rotate an object using trackpad gesture?. Current implemented feature is rotating view using trackpad gesture. So, to rotate object it could be like; click the object we wanted to rotate, then hold shift and do the rotation gesture accordingly. In addition, you could do the same with object resizing with zoom gesture. Background issue: sometime it's little "annoying" pointing the cursor to the right spot to get rotation control on. To sum up, we all know that Mac's magic trackpad is one thing that make it standout from other hardware interfaces available on the market. And every Mac's user loves it. So why we wouldn't take it to its true potential? Thanks, Regards
  11. So, I am an old Fireworks user, considering the High Sierra upgrade... But I have serious doubts about FW continuing to work, and Adobe will prob not update... So I an trying Affinity Designer... Will it work in 10.13?
  12. Hi. First post where I have a question about licensing but first want to say how awesome Affinity Designer is. I'm a Photoshop convert (not a pro) but Affinity Designer gets everything done that I need to do and more. Onto the question - I purchased Affinity Designer through the Mac app store for my Macbook. I wondered will I also have to purchase a separate license for Affinity Designer to use it on Windows? I've read through the licensing documentation that I could find and couldn't get a definitive answer but presumably I need to purchase another license for my Windows machine. I'm not a business - I'd just like to use it on both Windows and Mac because I am located across different locations where the Windows machine is a desktop that doesn't move with me.
  13. I would like to begin a design project on iPad (Pro 12.9, iOS 11), save it to iCloud Drive, and continue work on it in either Designer or Photo on my Mac (macOS 10.13). My first attempt at this shows this to be finicky, so my guess is that I'm not doing something right. How I finally got my first attempt to work was: In Photo on iPad, save as PSD to iCloud drive Open in Photo on Mac Save as afphoto file Open in Designer on Mac Does anybody have a better workflow that will work better than this? Is it best to create the initial file on iOS as a document or a project? Yes, I am an extreme noob to this.
  14. Hello, in separated mode Affinity Photo and Designer don't take in consideration the "save dialogue window" that comes from top below every palette you have active in that moment. The result is that when anyone is trying to save files, you have to move and relocate the floating palettes and the main toolbar (see the attachment). Would be desirable to have another interaction with the save window, maybe hiding temporarily the palettes (now I do by myself pressing TAB) or pushing on the foreground the dialog window. Other feedback, that could be considered, is to allow more workspaces and the possibility to save them. There are many reasons, useless to explain, in which you need to save two or three workspaces with the disposition of palettes and toolbar you need.
  15. Hi, I am trying Affinity 1.5.5 on macOS 10.12.6 (16G29). I can use a Pixel layer and fill it ok, but in tutorials it implies it is easier to use a Fill Layer but the option to create that type of layer is not present in my menu. Any ideas would be appreciated. A.
  16. Okay Affinity, you just teased me into thinking a registered user could just "download" the free macro pack. When I tried to retrieve the free macros I got a page asking for my name email etc. I got a message that said my email was registered. That's nice but why am I being blocked from getting a macro pack? I am running Affinity Photo 1.5.2. and I have OS Sierra running
  17. Hello All. Long time lurker, now trying to get a bit more serious with the current production version of Affinity Photo on my Mac. Apple's Aperture has a "Show hot and cold areas in your photos" viewing mode. It's a convenient way to highlight areas at the extremes of exposure, allowing you to pull back adjustments just enough, for example. Is there a similar viewing mode available in Affinity Photo? I've had a look and I don't think there is anything close to this - but I'd love to be proven wrong! Here's a quick with/without example. On the right, the red indicates areas which are blown out and the blue shows areas of near total darkness. Cheers, Gary
  18. Hello, I bought both, photo and designer for windows. Now I will get this week a iMac. Can I only install on 1 pc with the licence, or on two??? Kind regards Olaf Hunck
  19. So I bought my Mac version through the app store from Apple and I read online that the license lets you install on both platforms but how does that work? I do not have a logon like you get when you buy direct. Am I stuffed?
  20. On the Mac, I opened an image in Apple Photos, then used the extensions to open in Affinity Photo. I did a whole bunch of stuff making layers and adjustments and masks. I knew I could save back to Apple Photos as a flattened image, but after I was working on it I realized that I'd like to keep the .afphoto file. I couldn't figure out how to do that. Is it not possible (if approached in the order I describe) or did I miss a button? Save As was greyed out. I know that if I opened Affinity Photo first, and then pointed to my media library I could have done it, but curious if the workflow I describe could have worked. It's easier for me to find an image (64K photos) inside Apple Photos first than it is to start the other way around. And while I'm yapping about this, I recreated my workflow using the iPad and the end effect was WAY better than the one I did on the Mac!
  21. Hello, good morning. I have bought Affinity for Windows because I have Windows on my computer at home. But i will buy a Mac soon, is there an option to download Affinity for Mac also, if I already have a product code? If not it's really a shame that I have to pay for a Windows version, and pay also for a Mac version. Regards.
  22. I've been using Affinity Designer since its inception. Sometimes it really does help with illustration-based tasks, making it faster to work with than Adobe Illustrator. However, the "Expand Stroke" function is still terrible even after several years of development. Has this feature been entirely ignored? This is an example of what I'm talking about: After creating a stroke with the Stroke Pressure modified, I attempted to use "Expand Stroke." As you can see, the nicely rounded stroke converts into something pointy like a dagger. I searched through the forum for help, but all I found was a trail of complaints regarding "Expand Stroke" going back to 2014. With 2017 almost finished, it would be GREAT if this got fixed. Looks like my "timesaving" approach by using Affinity Designer rather than Adobe Illustrator is actually going to cost me a bit of time.
  23. The Save History with Document is a brilliant function, that allows to screencast and build clean making-ofs. I noticed though that there's a cap around the hundreds or so; the first steps in the list disappear progressively. On purpose?
  24. this example is from the latest AD beta but is the same for AP when you click "preferences" (having the hand tool selected), the dialog does not open until you "release" the "click" therefore it takes longer to "klick" the dialog than to hit "cmd + ;" in constrast: the adjustments layer dialog (the circle down in the layers panel) pops up immediately upon the "key press down" which makes it feel more snappy can this be enabled for other popups/ dialog/ persona switching/ switching tools as well? cheers PS this may be related https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/44673-toggle-off-layers-lag/#comment-222876
