  1. I am trying to use Lens blur on Affinity Photo. After opening the Lens Blur Adjustment, as soon as I click on Radius Affinity Photo crashes. I tried using Depth of Field and Gaussian and they work fine. Let me know if there is any issue with the same?
  2. Can I draw rounded rectangle on ipad and scale it with fixed corner radius? I cannot find even corner radius input box like desktop version. Please help me, thanks.
  3. I'm trying to stitch a few raw files, and the program starts to prepare the stitch but then stops. There is plenty of overlap in each photo, so I don't believe that's the issue. Is there a limit on the file size or is this a bug ?
  4. I am fairly new using affinity designer but the upgrade makes me feel as if I have lost some features that were in the previous version. 1) I can’t seem to “add” anymore. See the video. It subtracts the two lines instead of uniting the layers 2) select all is not selecting all layers 3) joining nodes is creating separate lines. is it me or affinity designer? Again, I used these techniques in the previous version successfully, but am new enough to doubt myself. Please see the attached video for clarification. Thank you. FullSizeRender.mov
  5. Hello, My wife and I are new to Affinity Designer, so please bear with me as I certainly haven't learned the "correct" terminology, or the names of the menu items, their locations or their options! Some background: We are attempting to take my wife's pencil and paper drawings and convert them into closed-shapes in Fusion 360 (an Autodesk CAD program). Those shapes will then be extruded into bodies and used to "engrave" or develop 3D models that can be either 3D printed or more recently CNC carved into wood. We purchased Designer, because it can export into SVG, which Fusion will accept (but not always very elegantly!). We've done some test drawings, and if I draw with the pencil, pen or ellipse tool, I only get a single line in the SVG when imported into Fusion (what I would call a pure path, and NOT a stroke--but that may be terminology from other programs). After several experiments, it appears that the best workflow is to scan the paper image into PNG, do a bit of cleanup/brightness/contrast modification in a photo editor, and then bring the resulting cleaner PNG into Designer as a reference layer. We then tried tracing out the main features from the drawing using an Apple Pencil on an iPad Pro, and can only get reasonbly good results using the pencil or the pen. Unfortunately, when these are imported into fusion, they can't be extruded or used as cut bodies, as they are a single line, and not a closed path-as-if-it were a line. (I hope that makes some sense!). I'd really like to find a clean workflow that isn't too time consuming. My wife is a traditional fine artist, so working on the iPad for her is a challenge. I'm an engineer and certainly no artist! Is there an easy way to convert the pencil/pen paths into brush strokes on iPad? I saw that a similar question to this was answsered on the Windows forum, but it's solution doesn't seem to work on iPad. I've tried a LOT of different software packages to make this a reasonable process, but haven't found one yet (I don't have Adobe Illustrator, which might be a way, but I was hoping Designer would be a better solution)--things I've played with: Photoshop, Inkscape, various environments in Fusion 360. I'd even take a completely better workflow if someone has already solved this in a different way. Thanks! -- Phil
  6. The problem just happens as it titles, I want to install fonts on Affinity Designer for iPad as the Affinity page tutorial follows, going to settings, pressing the cloud icon, locating the fonts I want to install, select each weight (file) such as bold, light, etc, and then tapping on "Open" but after that nothing happens, the fonts don't show on the list, tried this several times, also checked the font file extension and it is .ttf and .otf and none of them show, also checked on the text studio to see if them were just not showing up on the list but were available to use and nope, the fonts weren't installed, and I don't know what to do anymore! I've tried several times with different files and nothing happens, every time I repeat the profes of the cloud, select and open is like if I just did nothing, the list keeps empty and that's it, what could be happening?
  7. When I try to import a .CR3 file from my Canon 90D to Affinity Photo for iPad, I get the following error ... "Failed to open file .... The file type is not supported". Any ideas on the solution and/or work around until this is supported?? Cheers
  8. Hello, I've been using Designer on My iPad Pro since it became available and I dig it. However, I've run into a problem whereby the app is using massive amounts of storage which makes no sense. I have very few documents stored, fewer than a hundred, the vast majority of them are purely vector and no more than 5 or 6 include bitmap images, yet Designer is using 352 GB of disk space! looking at the info available it says that the app is using 922 MB and that documents & data are 351 GB. This is crazy! There is no conceivable way that the files I have in the app could be anywhere close to 351 GB. At first I thought it might be related to the fact that I maxed out the available undos in settings, however, today I changed that to 500 and went through each file individually and erased all available history, this however did nothing to decrease the storage. I have also added a number of items to my assets, but they are also purely vector and I can't see them taking up this much storage either. Surely this must be an issue with Designer itself? If Someone at Serif could reach out to me and help me sort this out or explain what is goin on here, it would be very much appreciated as I have been unable to backup my iPad now for over a month due to the massive amount of date required to do so — since I need the iPad daily I haven't been able to allow the 2 or 3 days required to make an iCloud backup. If any forum members have had this issue or know what causes this I would also be happy to hear any advice or suggestions. thanks for reading
  9. My latest work is Affinity Designer and Procreate. I hope you will like it. If you want to watch the entire production process, you can visit my youtube channel.
  10. Howdy, Apologies if this is addressed elsewhere on this forum already, but I wasn't able to find anything. My issue is this: I purchased the "Grave Etcher Brush Pack" from the Affinity Store to use with Affinity Designer for the iPad, but I can't figure out how to install it (using the published instructions for how to install brushes). From within the app I click on the Vector Persona and then from the Brushes Studio I choose "Import Brushes..." from the hamburger button. From what I can tell, Designer opens up a version of Apple's "Files" application, from which I navigate to where I have the .afbrushes file stored (I've tried storing in various locations in Files, including Google Drive and "On My iPad). The file appears but without any "afbrushes" extension. The icon and listing for the file appears grey/gray-colo(u)red, as if Affinity doesn't recognize the file as a legitimate brushes file. I can poke, pinch, and swipe at the brushes file as much as I want, but Affinity Designer + the Files dialog refuse to consume the file. I've tried with other community-created .afbrushes files and get exactly the same behavior. So... how can I import an .afbrushes file into Affinity Designer for the iPad? Any information that I can provide to provide clues as to what is happening? Thanks! Regards, Jim
  11. This image of an oak tree amongst cider apple trees at sunset was used to illustrate some writing at matthewslater.org.uk. It worked quite well, though I had no idea how the finished image would look. My iPad struggled hugely with the complexity of the trees and I had to expand and merge elements to reduce the number of paths and points. In the end it still became painfully slow to edit which was a pity as I could have tightened it up more. I tend to work in cmyk so this might look a little odd when posted as rgb.

  21. Hey there! When switching between Affinity Designer on iPad and macOS, the font sizes change, and it's quite ugly! I'm using the Damascus font. Screenshots attached. Am I doing something wrong here?

OK guys I’m new and I have a few questions I keep trying to save for web the problem I’m having is when the file is saved and I go to upload it on Facebook for customers to view a possible proof it looks somewhat blurry. I have tried to save it as PNG and also JPEG and they’re both still blurry how can I get the highest resolution and not lose picture quality
  24. Hey. I study Affinity designer. Tell me, please, how to configure the export to PDF or EPS so that the layers and groups remain in place? I grouped the elements into groups and layers in the iPad app, but they ungrouped when exported to EPS or PDF
  25. I have been using AP for quite awhile Now. It is a great alternative to PS on the iPad. I use it more than PS on my Mac. I have my graphics that I create things with in my iPad in File Explorer. The last iOS 12 messed that up a bit, would not stay connected to iCloud. So a bit ago, I tried to drag in a file from Files into Affinity Photo, it would not work. So I tried using place from files and most of my files are no longer available to use from either my iPad or iCloud. Any ideas???
