Hi, I recently bought the Affinity Designer Workbook and have really been enjoying the practical examples and working my way through it. Just a minor error that I'm not sure has been reported or not (I don't have Facebook or Twitter to contact directly so posting on here) but I noticed a formatting error on page 109 - half of the words at the start of each line seems to be cut off a bit. I included a screenshot below. I have to say that the book is excellent so far, I've always found most design software to be quite intimidating and time consuming to learn but the workbook is getting me to grips with the software really quick and it's been surprisingly intuitive to use. If I notice anything else as I work through the book, I'll use this thread to continue posting.

Dragging an image to AP (.png format - to place it inside document) is mistaken as an "abr brush import"; and it leads to an error. While some might appreciate how easy it is to import brushes that way, I think its not a great way, as it leads to conflicts with image placing. LE: Forgot to add this is AP CB 1.5.2.63 i'm talking about.

Related: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/37597-ad-export-persona-item-has-duplicate-paths/ Change the message of the error icon to the specific error: If the artboard was named twice the same, say e.g. "The Artboard/Path-Name is used multiple times". The actual message ("The Item has duplicate Paths") indicates Paths that are exactly the same (not only the name) and do overlap or such thing. Greetings, Johannes

Hello I am having this new issue where i am trying to export some icons. And the resulted icons are half the sizes. I have selected anything that should result in half the size. I used single png-24 for export. I have actually used this settings before. It was good. I exported icons of 80 x 80 px size. It was fine. Now when i export it's 40 px. Can any tell me what might be the issue?

Hello I recently bought the affinity designer, I had to export a PDF. file after finishing with the illustration... No matter on default or altered settings within the export properties, I was unable to succeed in exporting any form of PDF available in Affinity. Can anyone shed some light on whether its a bug or anything I might be doing wrong? N.B. First I tried to export my resume/Portfolio that maid me doubt if it because it contains some files such as JPEG, Text, Tiff, from previous Illustrator program, But I redrew some other vector art from scratch on Affinity, same Problem. Thank you for your time. Cheers

Hi all, I am trying to purchase a Windows version of Affinity Designer, but everytime I complete this process, it ends with "Error: Payment Card Declined". I meet all of the payment requirements (accepted cards/funds/etc.). Any help would be much appreciated, I am very eager to get my hands on a copy.

I'm making my letter on Twitter and Facebook "open" because I'd really like to see this addressed. I believe the issue at hand is also more relevant to a "bug", since the correct term is PPI and not DPI. You've responded to this issue in the forums, but I'm considering this topic an error that I feel many users would like corrected. Please consider making this change. Thank you. "Respectfully, I believe ignoring the significant difference between PPI and DPI is a huge mistake, and an irresponsible choice for a company that does what yours does. I understand you feel this is addressed. However, if the vibe I'm getting is correct, then you feel that so many people misuse the term DPI, it's not worth the effort to address questions and concerns if you change it. I think that's lazy. It seems like a couple lines in an FAQ that you could link to would take care of it. As far as professional work and the factor these properties have on the final outcome of your project, I think these differences are way too significant to ignore. If I create a document at 300 PPI, and then print it at 300 DPI and 1200 DPI, the difference is immediately obvious. With the exact same pixel data, the document printed at 1200 DPI is significantly higher quality. If I create a document at 1200 PPI, with 4 times the pixel data, the quality difference between a 300 DPI and 1200 DPI print is also immediately apparent. Again, the 1200 DPI print is far higher in quality, contrast, clarity of detail, color accuracy, and intensity. However, if I look at two images printed at 1200 DPI, one from a 300 PPI file and one from a 1200 PPI file, then the difference is almost completely indiscernible. This is also true printed at 300 DPI. In spite of having 4 times the pixel data in the same amount of space, the difference between the two printed images is almost impossible to discern. However, two images printed at a different DPI from the exact same digital file are *easily* distinguishable from each other. I'm an artist and designer, and I don't personally deal with printing images very often. That said, after 8 years doing this stuff, the difference between DPI and PPI has always been simple and clear, and I don't think there's a legitimate reason to use them interchangeably. Especially given the impact they have on the final outcome is weighted so differently. I've waited a long time for you guys to come to Windows so I could be done with Adobe, and seeing DPI every day instead of PPI won't change that. I just think the responsible thing to do is set an example, use the correct term, and help clarify that there is a difference between the terms. From what I've seen in the forums, a lot of your users also understand the difference, and it also frustrates them. It's a small change, but it could have a big, positive impact. The users frustrated by it no longer have to be frustrated, and all the people that don't understand the difference can start to. Please consider this. Thank you for your time."

Hello, I am a 3D artist looking to ditch Photoshop and am very happy to have found Photo. Part of my workflow has me baking out various textures from Marmoset's Toolbag 3. Within this package is the ability to bake all of the textures into a multi-layer PSD. I've hit my first hurdle working with Photo though as I am unable to open up these exported PSD files in Photo. The error message looks like this: I've also attached a low resolution bake of a multi-layered PSD exported from Toolbag if it helps give your team any insight into its file structure. bake.psd

Hello, I'm a huge fan of Affinity Designer, and I'm using this program at my iMac 5k but I have an issue after updating the program. Exporting Jpeg or Png -> My original photo color is desaturated, the tone is down like a pale face.I was comparing many times on my photoshop and my old iMac (not 4k) as well, but I feel it seems that Affinity Designer's bug. Do you have any solution for this, regarding color tone is down? Thanks in advance, DJ.

Hello all, Just recently I was creating line art for a request from one of my commissioners (in affinity of course), I completed a fair amount, and saved regularly during creating it, until my laptop completely crashed that is. I was forced to turn it off by holding the power button until it had completely shut down. I wasn't too worried about losing my work because I'd just saved about one minute or so prior to it crashing. However, when I turned my laptop on again, and then tried to access the file, apparently affinity didn't support the file type? I checked in the properties and it was correct, named "optrix.afdesign", and here I also noticed that the size (and the size on the disk) was 0 bytes, currently I don't know if this is just an error showing the size or it is literally 0 bytes and I've lost all of my work. I definitely wasn't putting my laptop under any stress, the afd. file only contained my line art and 3 other images I was using as references. And yes, it's only this file that can't open, I believe all of my previously created files can. I've attached the file itself just in case, and I can show you screenshots of anything you need. Since this time I've downloaded and reinstalled the release candidate affinity again. Even if no one can help, could you please respond if you've had the same; or a similar issue (my laptop is a Surface Book and I solely used a Bluetooth mouse, not the pen). Thank you for your time. P.S Just when trying to attach the file apparently no file was selected. I've lost it haven't I.

Windows 7 Professional Dell 8900 16GB 64 bit I have been checking the plug-ins which I added. (I copied the contents of the Adobe plug-in folder to the Affinity plug-in folder). Program crashed twice - I'm assuming crash reports are being sent automatically, if not, let me know what you need. Alien Skin Exposure X Message "This filter requires editable transparency. Please turn off Lock Transparent Pixels in the Layers Palette." Before I could do that - a crash message appeared. POSITIVE - there is a great feature when the program is restarted to recover the file you were working on. This is fantastic. In Photoshop, the file is gone. Will be back with more details on the plug-ins I am checking. Luv luv luv this program!

Greetings Affinity Designer Users, I'm hopping someone can point me into the right direction. When placing and using a graphic individually on to the canvas, Usually, anything that spills or leaks out from the canvas has always stayed within the canvas "margin" and or does not leak out. That is until you select the Artboard Tool and then you can have as many Art boards (Canvases or aka as the projects pages) in your project as you want, and all the graphics are perfectly visible outside of the actual canvas size (with no clipboard mode being used) as it normally should. (Please see image attached) But then, WHY is it then, that a glitch happens out of nowhere sometimes when your graphics start leaking out of the ClipArt board Canvas, when clearly I DID NOT want to create an ClipArt? nor did i select it the Art board Tool. How can I fix this ? It used to be not long ago where it would automatically fix itself after restarting the software but its coming back up with the file itself and those same settings are now being saved with that same setting for when i open up a new graphic art file. In Other words, How can I turn OFF that "Art board" feature (where graphics don't stay within the chosen margins and never really disappear after it leaks out the confined dimensions of the page as it usually would when in Artboard mode) I don't want that feature ON when I'M NOT using a Art board mode nor the Art Board Tool in my project. I just want the regular mode with its margined canvas without the Artboard tool, and without my graphics leaking out of my main comp. (For an example of Please see attached image) Again, this is me NOT using the Artboard Tool here, and the graphics still leak. Thanks guys! I really appreciate it if anyone can get back to me! Best always, PJ

I'm an AD newbie (and loving it so far) but I had my first beta crash today :) I had closed Designer with the help page open and when I tried to run Designer again, it crashed with this message: An Unhandled Exception has occurred. Code: 0x80070079 It happened a couple of times before I spotted the help window was still open and closed it. It loaded fine after I closed help and then started Designer. I'm not having trouble making it crash if I do the above, so hopefully it's an easy bug to squish.

Hello there, I've seen the v1.5.0.6 update bug mentioned here and there on the forums but not explicitly reported, so thought I'd mention it, just in case it hasn't been noted. When AD v1.5.0.6 notified me of the new version, it produces an 'Unhandled Exception' error which prevents interacting with the download button (screenshot below, update-bug.png). I downloaded the updated .exe via the original link in my email and v1.5.0.7 runs as expected.
