  1. Hi NathanC, When I make a preset with jpg and webp in the slices export panel and close and open Affinity Photo, then load the preset Affinity Photo crashes still. First I had the idea that it was because of older version presets, but when creating new presets it is still crashing. This bug was reported by me months ago. I attached the export_config.dat again as well as the bug report from my iMac when the crash happens! Back to version 1 again! David affinity-photo-crash.pdf export_config.dat
  2. Hi, I'm experiencing a repeatable Publisher crash when pressing the Mac "Command" key after setting up links between text frames. I've attached a Publisher file that can reproduce (for me, anyway) the crash. The following are steps to reproduce the crash: Click in the rightmost text frame on Page 1 to select it. Click on the "node" on the right edge of the selected text frame to highlight the frame and enter the mode for text frame linking Move the mouse pointer to the leftmost text frame of Page 2, which will highlight it. Click in the leftmost text frame of Page 2, which will create a link between the rightmost frame on Page 1 and the leftmost frame of Page 2. Press the "Command" key on the Mac keyboard, which will crash Publisher with no warning. I'm running Publisher 2.04 on macOS Ventura 13.3. A copy of the crash log is also attached. Since I encountered this issue while doing production work, I'm now going to look for a workaround. I'll post any successful workarounds here as I find them. Thanks, Ken AddingColumnLinksCrash_14May23.afpub AddingColumnLinksCrashLog_14May23
  3. Designer REGULARLY crashes when Exporting to PNG & JPEG. These crashes are not new; they have been occurring for years. Does Affinity receive Crash Reports from Apple? Does anybody actually analyse them? Are they of any use? I must have submitted hundreds of them to Apple, but the crashes have never been fixed. It is extremely frustrating and a huge waste of my work time. How can a Product Critical Error go uncorrected for so long (YEARS)? Obviously you guys don't have tests for this in your Release Test Suites.
  4. This is a super annoying issue I already reported several times since AP V 1.x and it is still not solved in 2.0.4. Watch the video.
  5. JPEG XL export consistently crashes with transparent background exports in the latest release 2.0.4 and on the beta 2.1.0.1742 on Windows 10.0.19045. Steps to reproduce 1. Create a new document with a transparent background 2. Add a rectangle 3. Go to File > Export ... 4. Use these settings: 5. Using high Quality settings you'll see the export fail or the file crash with the export dialog loading 6. Best quality apparently immediately hard crashes the app as well from the export dialog, since that was the version I last used, I can't show my settings for export.
  6. Hi all, Hoping that someone can help me with this, although I see that recurrent crashing of the software is a wide problem. I am experiencing constant crashes when working with Affinity Designer 2. This often happens right after I have opened a new file and pasted an image that I use to start tracing the illustration. Yet, the moment I start working with it, it crashes. I have a fairly new computer, 11th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-1165G7 @ 2.80GHz, Windows 11 Home, 22H2 Version, Intel Iris Xe Graphics. I have disabled the OpenCL Hardware Acceleration feature. The crashing continues. The actions with which it has crashed range from using the brush, renderising the image, tracing a vector curve, etc. Nothing too complex. I have the crash dump file, if that helps. Looking forward to reading your responses and potential solutions!
  7. Not sure if this is a bug, but Designer 2 (2.0.4) shouldn't crash trying to open a simple SVG. I wanted to see if ChatGPT 4 can generate SVG graphics, and it can. They're not correct, but it does generate SVG code. I asked ChatGPT to generate an SVG of US flag and this is what I got: <svg xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg" viewBox="0 0 7410 3900"> <rect width="7410" height="3900" fill="#bd3d44"/> <path d="M0,450H7410m0,600H0m0,600H7410m0,600H0m0,600H7410m0,600H0" stroke="#fff" stroke-width="300"/> <rect width="2964" height="2100" fill="#192f5d"/> <g fill="#fff"> <g id="s18"> <g id="s9"> <g id="s5"> <g id="s"> <path d="M247,90 317,307 132,172h229L161,307z" id="s"/> <use href="#s" y="420"/> </g> <use href="#s" y="840"/> </g> <use href="#s" y="1680"/> </g> <use href="#s" y="3360"/> </g> <use href="#s" y="6720"/> </g> <g fill="#fff"> <use href="#s18" x="247"/> <use href="#s9" x="494"/> <use href="#s5" x="741"/> <use href="#s" x="988"/> </g> <path d="M0,0h7410v450H0zm0,600h7410v450H0zm0,1200h7410v450H0zm0,1200h7410v450H0zm0,1200h7410v450H0zm0,1200h7410v450H0z" fill="#fff"/> </svg> After saving it as an SVG file, when I try to open it in Designer 2 it crashes without opening. I can view SVG file in the browser and even Windows file preview. Can someone else confirm?
  8. Affinity Designer V2 Crashes - When I click on the Recent Files button in the startup window. It works fine if I go to File > Open Recent Is it a common issue/known bug? I noticed that it's happening in Affinity Photo also, haven't tried it with Publisher yet. I am on Windows 10 and Using the MSIX installer for all.
  9. I've attached a screenshot. The plugin worked in Version 1 but no longer works in Version 2. Plugin Launch Crash.mov
  10. Here's the error report. It's happened 4 times today when selecting a layer in the Layers Panel. Thought it might help the Affinity developers to see Apple's crash report. 181801-erratic-crash-when-selecting-a-layer.txt
  11. Hoping someone can assist I have 2 machines both running Windows version of Affinity Photo version 1.10.6. When I do an export of macros from the library panel it successfully creates the .afmacros file. When I try and load this to the second machine using import on the library panel Affinity Panel shuts down/crashes. I have attached the exported file as I hope this will help someone help me with this. VPSP_Macros.afmacros
  12. Hi, I bought recently AFP 2.0. I am still using Monterey OS (I will install it when it is more stable). I have problems when trying to export any publisher document to PDF. I have never gone beyond a 10 spread document, as I need to test how it looks (the file size has ranged between 150 and 400 MB). I started using embedded files and then I swapped to linked files. I converted all my psd or jpg files to Affinity Photo 2 format, in case that was the problem. It makes no difference if it is RGB or CMYK, they both crash. It doesn't matter if I try to make a copy of the file and rename it, it won't stay open (the problem persists even if I close the program and restart the computer). Through the different releases I keep having the same problem. I am not sure what is happening. I manage to export to a PDF, but it is impossible to keep working on my original publisher file, crash, after crash, not even the time to save to a different file. Could you please help me to figure out how to solve the problem? I attach the beginning of the latest problem report. Thank you. Clemencia
  13. I attach a file. Each time I try to touch the WB controls in the Develop persona (with the image layer selected), Photo 2.0.3 crashes. System: iMac Pro running macOS 13.2 (22D49) 202301_M1A1717-1600.afphoto
  14. Hi, I recently transferred a file as psd from Lightroom 6.14 into Affinity Photo and opend it in the Develop Persona. First I ticked off all sections. Then I enabled White Balance (Weißabgleich ) Moving the Slider shows no change in the picture (the numberfield stays at 0%) After disabling and enabling the White Balance the change is visible, but the numberfield still has 0%. Resetting the White Balance causes a crash of Affinity Photo. Viele Grüße roland
  15. Hi guys, today I've worked on a new Designer file (file created today, 1 artboard, 2 linked images, some icons etc.). After exporting the file to a PDF I've quit the application. 2 hours later I tried to open the file again, but unfortunately Designer crashed immediately. I've tried it several times, no success (immediate crash when opening the file, not even a flicker of a preview). I've tried to open the file in Photo, but it also crashes. I *could* open the file in Publisher and it looks ok (although it complains that I have to convert artboards into pages, of course). Unfortunately I could not fix the file by saving it again from Publisher and trying to reopen it with Designer (still crashes). Any help in fixing the file would be greatly appreciated! If you are interested in the file (~15MB), I can send it to you. Also if you need more information, I'll gladly help. Thanks and all the best, Ole Ah before I forget: Designer/Photo/Publisher 2.0.3, Mac OS X 12.6.2, Macbook Pro 15" Retina 2015
  16. I am experiencing a crash immediately after trying to start the application. Splash screen goes away and process hangs. 17. I was trying Shape Builder and wanted to invoke the x-ray mode that I’ve seen on various tutorials. When I tap the Navigator icon and then tap on either Main View Mode or Split View Mode, Designer crashes instantly. I’ve tried with both the beta and mainstream app, getting the same result. I have also tried it with other files and it seems to work a little better. I have found that if I use the Designer module within Affinity Publisher for iPad, with the same file, there is absolutely no problem. I am attaching the file. You’ll see that it is not particularly large or complicated particular shapes. I was trying to combine using Shake Builder were the little houses (I was trying to replicate what the original artist had made, for practice). I realise there is probably something weird about the file, but this crash shouldn’t really happen, I think. cardch4.afdesign
  18. Publisher 2.0.0.1604 is crashing a lot. I understand how a crash works. What I wanna know is how I give you as much information as you need to understand where my crashes are coming from and how to stop them in Publisher 2.0.1 or 2.1. Dassit. I'm on Mac Ventura 13.1.0
  19. When i try to import from photo library my app crashes.
  20. Hey there, Affinity Publisher Crashes everytime I try to copy and paste a Headline. The headline is part of a Table Of Content via activating "headline" in the table of content option panel. It has an endnote as well. If I try top copy and paste this element, Publisher crashes. Same goes for a whole field of text, which contains Table Of Content headlines. My guess is: it crashes, because the copied headline or any part containing an element of table of content, creates a conflict when about to be pasted so Publisher can't handle it. In that particular file, it its 100% reproducable. I hope you can fix it. Cheers
  21. The new update brings really annoying bug – when I try to open a file modified in Windows Designer V2, saved on iCloud, I press Open -> Choose the file and Designer crashes.
  22. Are you using the latest release version? Yes. Can you reproduce it? Sadly, I can't reliably cause the issue. It's frustratingly frequent and intermittent. Does it happen for a new document? Yes. If you cannot provide a sample document then please give an accurate description of the problem for example it should include most of the following: What is your operating system and version: iPad Air 4th Gen running iOS 16.1.1 (20B101) using Apple Pencil 2 Is hardware acceleration (in Preferences > Performance) ON or OFF ? No such setting What happened for you (and what you expected to happen) I create intricate interwoven geometric patterns using the ShapeBuilder. Starting with the pencil tool, I draw lines which I then "expand stroke", make copies, rotate, and then use the ShapeBuilder to combine them. There are "left over" pieces after I use the Shape Builder, which I delete by hitting the trash bin icon in the Layer manager. Every so often, the app crashes when I delete one of these layers. Any unusual hardware: Nothing, other than Appel Pencil. Did this same thing used to work and if so have you changed anything recently? It works most of the time.
  23. Double clicking on the primary or secondary colors crashes, exiting to desktop (like it does when clicking on the Daub "bristle" brush category, reported in other thread). It happens in the two places you could do that, as shown in the screenshots. I have just installed a 3060, with nvidia studio drivers, before installing Affinity suite v2. Other apps are not crashing while doing this, though (it appears it is when it calls the color dialog box). Tested disabling OpenCL, but it also crashes. Affinity Photo 2.0.0. Attaching screenshots to clarify.
  24. Hi, this bug happens constantly with the following file and new blank documents. IMG_5523.afdesign 1) I open a JPG in Designer -> save as .afdesign 2) Use measurement tool and measure a distance A/B in pixels 3) Open "set scale" dialog -> enter "4.5m" and click "Anwenden" The dialog closes -> the widget now shows the computed distance in Meters -> Designer freezes The app does not recover. If i try to close the app via taskbar -> "Fenster schließen" i get the Save dialog but can't click any of the three buttons. The dialog is also freezed - can't click or move it. Have to force shutdown via the taskmanager: This error happens in 100% of all tests. Regardless of hardware acceleration on or off. EDIT I found this weird context 1) If i try this workflow with a fresh blank DIN A4 document (file -> new -> preset print, DIN A4 document unit Millimeter) there is no crash. Can use the tool after setting the scale to "4.5m" and continue work. Tool now shows distances in calculated scale and Meters. Document and Scale units are both metric blank-test-a4-print.afdesign 2) Now in the existing document I change the document unit settings from Millimeter to Pixel After that i do the above workflow again: measurement tool, measure A/B, set scale -> OK -> Designer freezes Have to force shutdown Designer via windows task manager. 3) The same crash appears even without changing the document units to pixel. It's enough to set the the scale units to Pixel when the document units differ (Millimeters): Conclusion: the whole scale units conversion (Pixel to Meters or vice versa) breaks the app.
  25. Today I was doing a composition and had made a selection and clicked "Command > J" to duplicate and Photo 2 froze with the spinning beach ball and after about 30 seconds it stopped and made the duplicate and with any other move it would do the same thing until I saved, closed and restarted Photo 2 and it must hold memory because it still did it. Yesterday it did the same thing with a different composition but it did it when I used the rectangle tool and I had to "Force Close" Photo 2. I am using a 2020 MacBook Pro M1 and it's up to date and I have Automatic Brightness disable per James Ritson video. Please help its very annoying.
