  1. Inspired by the most popular street foods in my Country and by various dance poses and yoga poses I admire. This is the coconut seller ninja chopping a coconut. The entire series is on socials. Behance | Instagram
  2. Hey so I'm pretty new to this software since I switched from Adobe. But knowing how well this software claims to sell on its latest update, I was and still am having problem with logging in to Affinity account in desktop version. It's either stating that the server is having a problem with some 0x000000001 code or it will pop a loading window but ended up stuck in a loop forever, be it in Designer or Publisher, having me resorting to Force Quit. I have some urgent tasks to be completed and all I have to focus on right now is to adapt to the software. Hope there's a way out on this.
  3. I'm curious if anyone is using AD to output cut vinyl for stencils on a Mac? If so, what machines are you using?
  4. After updating Affinity Designer 1.10.0, the program ignores Wacom pen pressure. When drawing over image, it creates errors on the screen as if the pen had failed.
  5. I am experiencing an issue where I am unable to save new files to a specific drive on my system. This issue did not arise with 1.9.1 and was definitely present in 1.9.0. I'm unsure exactly when it started but it persists in 1.9.1 so I figured this was appropriate. Whenever I attempt to save a new file it results in the "Failed to save document: <Untitled>" "Save failed because access to the file was lost" dialogue. A file is subsequently created on the drive, but with size 0kb. I did find similar issues reported in the forum, but these all seemed to deal with external storage or network drives. In this case, the hard drive in question is neither. It is a standard internal hard drive Seagate ST250DM000-1BD141. Saving to any of the other five drives installed in my system ( one of which is an identical model ) works perfectly fine. I am able to open files which already exist on the drive in question. I am able to save to another drive, move the file to the offending drive, and subsequent saving works as expected. Only new files saved directly cause this issue. The issue is of course infinitely replicable as it happens even with a fresh install of Affinity Designer. I have attempted a full reinstall. Wiping preferences followed by a full reinstall. I've checked permissions to the drive in question multiple times. I monitored the windows event log for any hints. I attempted disabling all anti-virus software. I tried disabling my font manager. I even disabled google drive sync ( which I am not trying to save to ) just in case it was somehow interfering. It's possible, even likely, the issue is still unique to my system but I've run out of leads to chase. OS: Microsoft Windows 10 Pro N Version: 10.0.019041 Build 19041 Affinity Version: 1.9.1.979
  6. iPads do not have any UI that is used to surface features of the tools you’re using, unlike the bottom bar that surfaces commands on desktop. AD is powerful but many users could miss features without better surfacing by the UI. For example, I know I can do shear transforms on objects with my iPad but it is incredibly difficult to figure out how. In contrast, shear transforms are very easy to figure out on desktop largely because there are tooltips which tell you how. Additionally, holding the ? does nothing to help clarify what the small buttons on the bottom toolbars do. A different but related topic, concerning the lack of tool descriptions on iPad: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/62451-ipad-description-of-all-tools/&do=findComment&comment=602824
  7. There are instances when you want to have better control over the tools that you have at your disposal. e.g. Colour selection, sliders, stroke weight, typography, history, layer properties. I suggest a button to extend the panel into a larger and/or wider interface for more precise control. Just for consistency's sake, both images are of the HSL Slider UI in the colour selection tool – but this can be applied to more UIs like stroke weight. Ideally, hitting some button would expand the panel from: Into something like:
  8. The Apple Pencil is the default precise input tool for iPad. However, Affinity Designer implements a deadzone for the Pencil that acts almost like a finger. While this helps with finger input, trying to use a precise input device (Pencil) in a manner that is less precise (Finger) is frustrating. This comes up as a hindrance when trying to select nodes on the canvas amongst other nodes while zoomed out, adjusting handles when transforming objects, using sliders, or doing precise work with stroke input tool. Yes, you can zoom in to mitigate but the precision of the Pencil should not require this.
  9. I think this is better in an own thread. All the best, Chris
  10. While I am using Affinity Designer I wanted to try photo manipulation I said may be it will work perfectly. But when I started working on it I noticed three main features that are missing and they are easy to implement in Affinity Designer pixel persona. Those features are "Merging selected layers", "Pentool" and " invert mask". For merging selected layers it seems complicated you have to groupe the layers that you want to merge then rasterize them and that's is a waste of time you can replace just with one click making a "Merging selected layers" button. For the pentool I don't know why you excluded it from pixel persona even it is the important tool there especially in perfect selection in photos. I hope you can fix that or if you have a solution for this issue please refer us to it. Finally, for the "invert mask" feature I don't know why it is missing in Affinity Designer ?! People suffer when they apply an adjustment layer to a photo especialy if it is very detailed it will be harder and waste of time to erase the maske in all the photo wherase if you apply "invert mask" you will easily get rid of this issue. I hope that you got my point considering "invert mask". Finally, I hope that you will take my suggestions and notes into consideration because they will make Affinity Designer more suitable and likable for the Affinity community. Thank you in advance.
  11. Hi all, Lately I have been making my own oil and beeswax mixes for my woodworking projects, and wanted to make some small containers to send with my cutting boards. I made a round label mostly because I could get them here in town. They came in a 2 in size that fit my tins pretty well. I used the template that Avery provided and used snapping to align my stickers to the sheet. Once the basic design was worked out I duplicated the sheet and changed each one to the other oil. What I liked: Making it all black and white was very simple and easy to LaserJet print. Using a premade font kept the thing simple and easy to alter. Trimming with Masks kept everything fitting in the circles very easy. Where I would change: My wife pointed out that I could of just duplicated the template layer and used them to get a better fit. I would potentially use the embedded object feature to update the sticker for changing the oil type or jar size when I make more. Leaving all of the shapes to not be trimmed by the mask would help with the bleed but make it harder to align. Thickening the stroke a bit more to cover any misalignment in the sheet. Print the pages separately so as to align each better. Anywho, thanks for reading if you did and looking. I would love any suggestions, critiques or techniques. Thanks all,
  12. So, another realistic one from me (this time non-alcoholic) πŸ˜€ I've included the outline view and the reference image used for comparison. It's not the best I've done but not the worst either and once again a little more knowledge gained as it's the first time I think I've done a Plastic bottle. About a Gazillion layers and 10 Gazillion objects in this one but it was fun to do. Its all vector done in AD with the exception of a few vector brushes for texture (I never refer to Vector Brushes as pure vector).
  13. Using symbols for symmetry but how put these symmbols symetric shape like circle? like hand draw "splats" in this example. they are different angle but fixed disantace from same point. i know how i can roate these symbosl but place where i put rotated is another thing. And i use Windows if does matter.
  14. I am having trouble editing text once it's created. I've tried everything. I can easily do this on the iPad app but on the desktop whenever I selet the text tool (Either artistic or frame) it only opens a new text option and refuses to select the previous text. File was created in Affinity designer. It is the default file type. Text layer isn't rasterised. Is this a feature that isn't yet available on desktp? I am editing a recipe post and I definitely need editable text.
  15. There's one thing preventing me from updating to 1.10 Affinity Designer, and that is the new emoji support. Things are going in the right direction but it needs some tweeks. I have some emoji fonts that I use regularly. One being Segoe UI Emoji. However after 1.10 Affinity designer always uses the default emoji with color. This is a problem because I want the black only glyphs. Repro 1. In Affinity 1.10.x make a new document on a Windows computer 2. Create a new text object with the font set to Segoe UI Emoji (or other font with emoji support). Paste in a πŸ˜€ into that object Expected: The black only Segoe UI Emoji version of πŸ˜€ appears Actual: The default san-serif πŸ˜€ appears complete with color.
  16. I am getting an immediate crash on trying to open the applications after updating to the most recent 1.10.1 version. The previous version installed was 1.9 and everything worked fine. Currently, no program starts after updating. I have no idea where to look for a solution. Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Chris

  18. I have a file that many music symbols that come from the Bravura font (Google it if need be, it's free under SIL). I put some symbols together in that font. Press "Convert to curves" and Designer crashes. Has happened now, 6 times in a row. Crash log below. Using 1.10 Robby Designer Crash Aug 9 2021.rtf
  19. Pen tool, feedback: not clear which short cut I could use.... Styles, feedback: not clear if it can be possible to change the color of a style and if there are other styles' choices Now I would like to turn an object into swirls... Is that possible
  20. There doesn't seem to be anything in the Help file about autosave. Typing autosave or auto save gets no results. I've tracked down an autosave folder in the following location... C:\Users\........\AppData\Roaming\Affinity\Designer\1.0 (Beta)\autosave How do I open one of the files in there?
  21. I type out text using the Artistic Text or Text Frame tools, then double (or triple) click and proceed to highlight the text that I want to make adjustments to. The only problem is, I can't see what I've selected because the text doesn't become highlighted! I could still make edits, but it takes alot more time if I am moving quickly and don't put my cursor where I think it should be. Any help? Affinity Designer 1.6.1, Mac 10.13.3

  24. Hello everyone. I've bought Huion H1161 pen tablet and started to use it yesterday but I'm experiencing some kind of incompatibility with all the Affinity softwares. I've set the lower button to be used as mouse middle button to move my artboards/pages but it doesn't work. I tried to change the stylus button as "space" but still having the same result. Is there anyone else with the same problem? Huion Client Support sent me a software to test the button and it is totally functional what makes me think the Affinity softwares have an incompatibility problem with Huion Stylus.
  25. Is there a way in Designer iPad to β€˜pin’ layers to the top of the layers stack, so that any layers created as you draw sit below them? Locking the layers does not do it. β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”- Background: Why I need this. I’ve scanned a sketch. I now want to draw vector shapes based on the sketch. I’m using the image layer with a 20% opacity setting as a guide. I draw objects (at 100% opacity) below this top image layer. It saves me having to mess about with the opacity of umpteen layers rather than one. Some would call these reference layers. β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”- . @Jowday’s post starts talking about reference layers in the Desktop app (I’ve not read it all).
