  1. A HUGE thanks to the team for this upgrade. Have been wrestling with my first large Affinity Publisher book project – since moving from InDesign – for a couple of months. The file is north of 400 MB with hundreds of illustrations across 317 pages. Just moving through the file by scrolling in the Pages panel took several minutes, and threw up more beach balls than a record attempt in Florida. Updated to 1.10 this morning. Completed an author's correction that would have taken several frustrating minutes in less than half-a-minute. This update is a game changer for those of us working with large files. Ten times faster – seems an understatement. So well done. And now we know where all that developer effort has been directed for the last several months. With that work done, can I put my hand up for some developer attention to supporting variable fonts? An increasing number of new fonts, such as through vendors like MyFonts, include a variable option as matter of course. In the works?
  2. THIS is the update i´ve been waiting for. It is absolutly stunning. from a heavy stutter mess to fluid scrolling through my document. Even better as in InDesign before my change to Affinty. Thank you! Now i am not regret my change anymore and can work much more efficient and without inner hate against the stutters^^ Love you!
  3. Just tested a few things in Photo and WOW, what an update! The performance is incredible, everywhere!
  4. I thought 1.9.3 was fast with the M1 chip. V. 1.10 leaves 1.9.3 at the starting gate! The paint brush almost paints before I start painting!! (Hyperbole but descriptive). I know it will be the same thing with Designer and Publisher (also successfully downloaded) but won't waste forum space with the same comment. Thank you everybody! This is a wonderful update.
  5. Note that the auto-update occurs only if in System Preferences > Software Update > Advanced the option "Install app updates from the App Store" is enabled. If this is set up like the above, the Mac App Store app "Updates" section should show the updates with an install button for each of them.
  6. We are pleased to announce an update for the Windows release of Affinity Designer, version 1.10.0 The detailed changes in Affinity Designer for Windows 1.10.0 (over the last release Affinity Designer for Windows 1.9.2) are as follows: Fixes & Improvements: Improved performance with: Heavily layered documents (faster rendering during panning and text reflow). Placed images. Text. Embedded documents. Low-memory conditions. New Selection options Parent, Top, & Bottom Improved IME text editing for Japanese and Simplified Chinese languages. Improved SVG import/export. Fixed issues with documents that have large numbers of embedded documents failing to load. (The maximum number of allowed open file handles was being exceeded leading to erroneous 'Future Version Error') Added support for most emoji. Added ‘Limit Initial Zoom to 100%’ preferences option. Resource Manager: New "Relink" option for missing resources. Added "File Type" column. EPS files can be linked. Assorted other small fixes. Help & localisation improvements. UPDATING TO THIS VERSION (free for existing customers) The software version can be seen on the splash screen and the About dialog (in Help > About Affinity Designer). If you’ve purchased from the Affinity Store— each time you start the Affinity Store software it will check for updates and offer any available update. The latest update will install over the top of any earlier version, with no need to uninstall. You can download the latest installer by logging into the affinity store here and find the order in your account and use the "Download" button in there. Alternatively, this new release (and previous versions of Affinity Designer for Windows) can be downloaded from this link (that installer is NOT for Windows Store purchases and needs a product key). If you’ve purchased from the Microsoft Store— Microsoft Store updates are done automatically by the operating system (each time you start the application). If this does not happen for you, open the Windows Store app and click the three dots in the top right corner of the app and then go to Downloads and Updates. Click Get Updates. This should hopefully force the update to show.

  14. The speed of the update download is very slow, fyi. For Photo and Designer.
  15. @Kristin verumsolum Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums Yes that will happen for a short time due to the steps in the release procedure, the update link uses a redirect which pointed to the last release notes but now points to 1.9.3 (here). Thanks for telling us.
  16. I'm in early, but the new update popup that showed up in Publisher had a link to the 1.9.2 release notes instead of this thread.

  20. Downloaded first day of release, but wanted to say thanks for the update! The unexpected unsplash changes which caused the crashes are thankfully working properly again in a production version!
  21. If you're having problems making the purchase you can email affinity@serif.com for assistance. However, it might be something as simple as needing to update or use a different browser, or needing to disable an extension like NoScript.
  22. Hi, I wanted to check before updating my 3 Affinity apps to version 1.9.2 (currently all are on 1.9.1 on my MacBook Pro and working). When I open any of the 3 Affinity apps, a message appears suggesting to update to Mac OS 10.12 is that mandatory to be able to run 1.9.2 or a suggestion for improved performance? (due to legacy programs on my Macbook Pro I'm on OS 10.9.5 , but will be getting a new additional MBP (with the Apple Silicon processor) later this year that will run on latest OS. (I can't find anything on the website referring to the Mac OS requirements for 1.9.2) Thanks :)
  23. In the past couple of weeks I've noticed that I'm finally using Affinity more than Adobe First impressions of this update are really good. Thanks
