  1. I keep having a problem where one node I want to move will not let me select it to move it. Gets frustrating. I can select the other nodes just fine, but not the particular one I want to move. I end up having to change out of Nodes tool to something else and then come back into Nodes tool and then I can usually select that node and move it. This has happened to me quite a few times.

  2. This has happened to me on every project I have done in Affinity 2 Designer and Photo. I am finding myself afraid to draw a new shape as it may crash. I have lost work numerous times now and I am really fed up with doing work over gain. If I have a shape I already created, I try to copy and paste or duplicate the shape, then reuse the new copy as I am afraid to try to draw a new shape and crash the app. Ot doesn’t seem to matter which shape it is.
I’m about ready to give up and go back to Adobe. I can’t keep losing work and redoing it. I have reduced the time for auto-saving to lose less work, but still it is very, very frustrating. I was cursing up a storm last night as it crashed in middle of working on something. Had to apologize to my wife for my outburst.
Crash also happens after deleting many layers one at a time. I never know when it will happen and how many deletes before it crashes. So, I get afraid to keep deleting items. Some projects have hundreds or even more layers and I sometimes need to delete layers to try to clean some things up and organize layers better.

  3. I took a photo of this particular homestead in Cades Cove at Great Smoky Mountains National Park in Tennessee, USA. My photo looked very dark and dull as it was quite foggy and misty. I created this scene as a vector drawing, then added brush work in Pixel layers.
I took a couple of liberties to make it brighter and less foggy. My wife wanted smoke from chimney of building on far right and so I added some. These homesteads here are not active and would not have any smoke.

  4. Thanks @dannyg9 for the comments. Yes, I did this a while ago and since I took the photo at an angle and I used that as my reference, I got stuck trying to get perspective of things correct. I tried my best with the rotation and skew transformation settings, but just couldn’t get things exactly right. I think if I did it again in v2 with the warp perspective, it could be easier and better. I put a lot of hours into these projects. I did it for fun and another step in learning.

  5. Wife and I went to a 50’s style diner (Bel Air) and they had a wall jukebox (brought back old memories of playing music on jukeboxes) at our booth. I took a photo of it and their logo signs. I thought I would try creating vector images of their logo and the wall jukebox. I put all the song text inside the jukebox. The letter and number keys really were not perfectly the same. The cards inside the jukebox with the song titles were in rough shape (I didn’t try to duplicate that). I then created a counter with stools and root beer floats and a neon style Diner sign to add something extra.

    Hope somebody likes it.

  6. Ha, ha! I don’t mind the critique, @Giovanni Pietri. I had no say in the design at all. I just created what was already designed by someone else as they provided. It is also very difficult to change if the menu changes much at all. Could cause a major do-over and headache for sure. I just posted this to show some of what Publisher can do along with photo and designer. Something I haven’t seen from anyone else. It actually doesn’t look too bad when printed and folded. Many other pizza/sub style businesses in the area here, have menus that look very similar in design.

    Hey stojames,

I saw this once in the months and months of beta testing and we could not reproduce or work out what happened. However, it has just occured to me that this may be a fault with V1 and V2 sharing a common folder.

My advise would be to open V1, save everything manually from the Home screen to safe location and remove it and also V2 and try a fresh install of V2. Simply resetting V2 or removing it won't bring those brushes back.

Well, I bit the bullet and removed my v1 apps. This caused the v2 apps to redownload and reinstall the brushes again, but they still did not show up. So, I deactivated my license and removed the v2 apps again. I downloaded and installed just the v2 apps (not the v1 apps for now), I reinstalled some of the brush sets and they are now showing up and working. I then imported my Frankentoon brushes and they appeared okay now too. I imported then a couple of other brush sets I use and they also work fine right now. I am kind of concerned about reinstalling the v1 apps and causing a problem all over again. I will hold off and see if I can just use the new v2 versions.

Bottom line was removing the v1 apps and the v2 apps, then reinstall the v2 apps only and reinstall brushes. So far, okay. Raster brushes appearing and working in both Photo and Designer now.

  8. I took a photo restoration class a while ago. Class used photoshop, but I did all my work with Affinity Photo v1. I have a damaged image provided in the class here. I did my restoration work on it and then I tried colorizing it on my own (not an assignment for this image). I have been restoring quite a few old family photos. Some are too damaged for me to do anything with.
