Is it possible to add Fuji Film Simulations as a plugin to AF Photo?
My online research says yes, but I cannot follow the suggested method and it comes from a blog rather than a known company website.
I recognise this mayn't be the first time this has been asked but a search has not revealed it.

I'm having the same issue. Its unusable if I cant easy control the last line or even better every single line without the need to create several layers. Any smart tricks I'm not aware of?

AffinityNewbie7 reacted to coranda in Affinity Photo: stroke a selection
I don't think there's a way to do that in AP, but perhaps someone can correct me.  A workaround is to make your selection, from the Select menu choose Outline and you'll be able to create a selection of variable thickness that runs along the boundary of the original selection.  To stroke it, create a new pixel layer and use the flood fill tool in the selection.

It's not ideal but it's a workaround until a better way becomes available.

When saving a file in Export mode I am faced with resampling options. I have never before seen resampling options for saving a file, only when scaling a file. Can someone please elaborate?

AffinityNewbie7 reacted to Frink in Why is Aero Design on WIN7 reqired?
Hey & thx for the Link! Finally I found a simple solution there....

It is possible to run Affinity without the Win AERO-Dsign you just have to start it with an Option:
    "C:\Program Files\Affinity\Affinity Photo\Photo.exe" "--no-dwm-warning"

BTW: From my viewpoint it is stupid not to give users this option in a Dialog when installing.
Many users will just give up and thats a pitty...
With a fast mashine Affinity is runing fine - even without the AERO Crap...
    Best!

AffinityNewbie7 reacted to James Ritson in Best Resampling Method
Hi Phil, the resampling methods are ordered by sharpness. For photographic purposes you can safely ignore Nearest Neighbour. Bilinear will produce the softest result, whereas Lanczos 3 non-separable will produce the sharpest (the difference between separable and non-separable is very slight). Bicubic is somewhere in the middle and will probably suffice for the majority of your images.

One reason to use a softer resampling method might be if your image has lots of high frequency content - from excessive noise to very fine detail like chainlink fences and difficult patterning in architecture. Using a sharper resampling method may exacerbate these parts of the image, and may even produce resampling artefacts (though they are more noticeable in video content to be honest - stills, not so much).

As always, experiment! But for a good safe bet with most of your images, try Bicubic. Hope that helps!

AffinityNewbie7 reacted to Adrian_M in LaTeX typesetting plugin in Designer
OK, I'm very aware that maybe most of the designers and users of the awesome Affinity Designer are not into scientific posters, books or documents, but I'm a mathematician and I love the app myself, as much as I understand and use it. :)

Hence, I got a small, but important feature request: a plugin/native support which would allow one to use the power of "local" LaTeX typesetting for symbols, fonts and other scientific notations.

I am aware I could use the great LaTeXiT + drag & drop, but still, I envision my workflow as follows:

When I have a complicated figure to draw, I fire up Affinity Designer and I draw, but for annotations and everything font or math symbol related, I'm not quite covered. I have installed some versions of the native LaTeX fonts (CMU) to use system-wide, but some are missing and still doesn't feel the same. So for symbols, equations etc. I would like to be able to input a LaTeX formula (delimited by the well-known dollar-signs) and Affinity would typeset it locally, using the fonts included in the LaTeX distribution installed on my Mac.

What do you think? Honestly, I think that such a feature would be useful for all kinds of technical drawers, although they may use CAD-style apps. But you'll never know when you need a formula on your piece of art, right? :)

Moreover, in perspective, I'm sure this would provide immensely useful for the future Publisher app, with inter-operability.

Thank you for the support and the awesome apps!

What I had in mind was that you draw your rectangle directly on top of the existing scale bar. No need to measure anything then.
