  1. This is on every font. What's strange is that when I click on the text again, it shows the actual font name that is being displayed (not the one that I had clicked on)
  2. I also reset the fonts, and have the same issue still.
  3. I am having the same issue on Mavericks. Using the text panel will change the font as I scroll through, but when I click on the one I chose, only the name changes in the panel, the font returns to the one before I began changing it. If I use the font setting in the context toolbar, then it works as expected.
  4. Are any of your Command shortcuts working? I'm on Yosemite and at first I had trouble with the Command shortcuts in the latest beta. Now they are working. I have no idea what caused / fixed the issue.
  5. Not sure if I'm doing something wrong, or what.... trying to set up custom shortcuts in AD and this is what I get (one of two windows) I'm not seeing where options are to input my own shortcut. On an iMac with Mavericks
  6. Again, just want to say, I am VERY happy with AD. I'm looking forward to the day when I can honestly say I NEVER miss my CorelDRAW. :-) You're getting closer all the time!!!!!
  7. Wow, those are huge improvements in character and paragraph panels. Thanks! I do have one question / possibly suggestion. I do a lot of typography, (word art stuff) but I'm also coming from CorelDRAW instead of AI. If I wanted to do a phrase in 3 lines, what I did before was type out the phrase in 3 lines, then choose the leading. (which I'm puzzled why I'm limited at 0, as I usually want the letters closer together than for text) and then I would be able to highlight just the one line of the phrase and tweak it if the ascenders or descenders are overlapping. I know I could do basically the same thing in AD by creating 3 separate artistic text, but the other seems easier, possibly because I'm used to it? The other way also seems easier if you're working on two different kernings in the same word. Maybe I'm just stuck in my old ways... wondering what others (especially those coming from AI) think?
  8. CorelDRAW will actually do a transparency from a JPG (no transparency.) Having said that, as much as I do really miss several things from CD & Paintshop Pro - I also really love AD and AP. I was not a dissatisfied user of Corel, on the contrary, my Corel software is what kept me from moving to Mac sooner. After too many of Windows' Blue Screens of Death, I made the switch thinking I was going to lose a lot of my crafting abilities (for quilting, card making, scrapbooking, vinyl wall art, etc., etc.) So I was thrilled to hear of AD's beta launch shortly after my switch. I do want to balance all my "WANTS" with much appreciation!
  9. this is something I really miss from CorelDRAW. It could be easily achieved through a bitmap transparency.
  10. Thank you SO MUCH, Superhaschi. I'm somewhat embarrassed to admit that after using SSDE for several years, I didn't catch on that you can import PDFs. Thought I had to work through the SVG option. This is WONDERFUL!
  11. Would love it if I could set the default export (SVG or PNG with transparent background) to only save the non-transparent items. I am often creating PNGs with a transparent background and it seems cumbersome to have to always select the visible items, then go through the menu to choose to not save the whole document. In CorelDRAW, the default is that it saved the non-transparent items with a transparent background in between, and cut off the transparent margins. I really miss this and wish there was a way to make that be the default if I wish.
  12. I am uploading a sample afdesign file, as well as the svg created from AD. I also copied the items from AD into iDraw and created an SVG from iDraw. I'm also uploading two screenshots of my cutting software. One has the iDraw SVG imported and the red shows the cut lines. The other shows the SVG created in AD. Thanks again for any help! The cutting software is ok for basic design, and iDraw is better, but AD would be hands down to be able to use for design!affinity.svg iDraw.svg <Large file removed>
  13. I have a Silhouette Cameo digital cutter and though their software is "nice" I would much prefer to do my designing in AD and then be able to transfer the design to the Silhouette Studio software. I am able to import SVGs, but I'm having problems, and since this is new to me, I'm probably doing something wrong. If I make a design in iDraw and export it to svg, it will import to Silhouette Studio fine. But if I make the same design in AD, it imports without the bitmap fill, and is only a fraction of the original size. Any help would be appreciated, except PLEASE don't tell me to use iDraw just because it works. LOL I LOVE AD, just want to be able to do more with it. I'm uploading screenshots of both iDraw and AD, plus the exported SVGs, and screenshots of both SVGs imported into Silhouette Studio. Again, thanks in advance, I'm guessing it is some setting I'm using while exporting, which I haven't figured out. AD.svg iDraw.svg
  14. I'm used to making stripes in CorelDRAW. I miss the option to choose the exact offset rather than dragging the new object, or doing the math to position it. For example, if I wanted 1/8th inch stripes 1/4 inch apart, it would be very easy to do with the settings. Unless I am missing something, in Affinity Designer I would have to set the size of the rectangle as in CD, but then do the math to figure out where to place the second stripe before doing the power duplicate.
  15. I believe this is a Mac issue. Apps that are not downloaded from the App Store do not have the X to delete from the Launch pad. Most will disappear if you drag them from the App Folder to the Trash, but some remain. I've done some googling, and the best I've come up with is a work around that I have a folder with all the icons from deleted apps. Could be wrong, but I think this is NOT an Affinity issue.
  16. I'm familiar with Corel and "Remove Holes" and I think I understand what you want, but if so, the photos are not showing it. In Photopaint and Paintshop Pro, when you are working on extracting an item, the selection sometimes will leave holes or gaps. (In the dog example, as if the circles on the collar were NOT included in the selection) In Corel Products there is an option under SELECTION to Remove Holes, and the circles would be included in the greater selection. If that is what you are wanting, I have not found that option in Affinity Photo. (Am I missing it?) Hopefully that clarifies things, instead of confusing more.
  17. Being over 50, I'm not a fan of the new minimalistic icons that are today's rage. 1 - They remind me too much of Windows 3.1 to look professional to me, and 2 - having four blue and white two colored circular icons just complicates my dock. But no matter why the icon looks like, I agree that it's the software that counts, and I'm loving AD / APh. Having said that, I strongly prefer the old icons, or even most of the examples submitted by other users over the current icons. And back to the whole concept of icons don't count, it's the software, I would state that IMHO the icon for a graphics program probably matters more than an icon for a financial program.
  18. Single tool - Are you wanting vector or raster? Vector = Affinity Designer / iDraw, Raster = Affinity Photo / Pixelmator.
  19. Ok, I know I am being picky about this, but it seems to me to make more sense that the tab order of the Transform Panel would be X, Y, W, H. Currently, if you type in the Width, then tab, you are at the Y position. Possibly this bothers me due to OLD HABITS, but it seems that one tab from Width should be Height. Also, one tab from X should be Y, not the Width.
  20. Ok, I probably didn't notice those problems, but most likely would have.... and then asked you to fix that too. :-) thanks so much for the explanation I appreciate the communication, and listening ear of Affinity people!
  21. Would it be possible for the insert target and rotation options to "be sticky" - remember what you used last?
  22. Thanks again, and in the meantime, I REALLY am trying to be patient. :-)
