  1. Yesterday I’ve got a new iPad Pro 12” and today I started Affinity Photo and made a drawing. I saved the file as a psd as I always do. Put it in the Cloud at al the other psd files. So far so good. I searched for an other psd file I made at the older iPad and wanted to download this file in Affinity Photo but all the psd files are “dark” and are not downloadable. Also the file I made today is dark. I’ve checked the preferences and they are the same as at my other, old, iPad 12”. At that old device I can download and use  the psd files as usual. Please, please help me!!!!!

i’ve just checked at Affinity Designer and also here these psd files are not downloadable. I’ve tryed ProCreate and I can download the psd files as usual.

Will there ever be a Dutch version?

If Affinity gets the same unlogical translation as in Photoshop.... don’t!!! It is just a matter of time (and watching video’s!) to understand what a tool does. And if you can’t find something, just ask and reed the forum, the are very helpful!

  3. All the  brushes I have are in the Cloud. The only brushes that doesn’t work in AP are the .csh files, they are special for Photoshop. When I want a brush I import it from the Cloud and if I know I don’t need it I delete the brush from the brushtool. Because they are in the Cloud I can use them whenever needed. As long as the brush is an .abr it works fine in AP. I use them at the iPad Pro and on my iMac.

  4. Pffff.... glad to read that more people have issues with AP. I’m working at the iPad Pro with AP 1.7.0135 and I’m very pleased with this programm but today is was a desaster. I wasn’t able to upload my work to the Cloud, the upload wheel kept turning and the only thing I could do was to close AP. After restarting AP I lost the changes I made. After a few try outs at last the file was in the Cloud. At resizing an item the layer freezes while the rectangle is at the new place but the resized item is still at the old place.

Hope you understand what I’m trying to say. I’m sure AP will fix this and than I’m happy  again with this wonderful programm. Thank you!

At the moment, the way file management works if you are using any other storage than On my iPad or iCloud is a little complicated.  There have been several threads about this I have read.

So, this is just my suggestion about how it could work.

It involves the addition of a "Save to" command both within the edit interface and within projects.

So, for instance, you create a new document within a project and it opens up in the editor as normal.  Everything is the same.

However, you now have Save To on the menu. Rather than save a copy, this will effectively move the file. So, I could choose to press Save To and then select somewhere on my OneDrive or pCloud.

Two things happen. To start with, the file is saved to that location as an affinity photo file, and secondly, the project record is updated to now be as if you had imported from the cloud.

Now, each time you save from the project, it saves to this new location.

Likewise, you can achieve the same from the project. You can click on the hamburger and click on "save to." This will allow you to choose any legitimate location and it will move the file and update the project entry for the file to reflect the change of location and how the file is updated.

This reduces the complication of working with cloud locations considerably and allows moving files around while not changing the entries in a project or having to move them in the Files app and then re-import them or using Save a Copy and having to re-import them.

    Anyway, just a thought. :)

Maybe I misunderstand you but all my work I save it by “export” and choose where I want to locate the file. (Mostly in the Cloud.) When I want to change the file I’ll choose at de screen New Document the button “From iCloud” and download it. I never use “save”.  Working with Affinity Photo at the iPad Pro 12”.

Can you just use the undo gesture (two finger tap), or do you mean if you have to drag it up again at a later point. :-)

Yes, the two finger tap lift it up, so the layer is at his old place again,  but when I want to drag it again to right the place below it will not move.

  7. Hi, I have a little problem and maybe one of you can give me the solution, I work with the iPod Pro, with iOS 12.

I work with layers and sometimes I need to replace a layer. I activate the layer and drag it down to the right place. So far so good. But if I drag the layer and accidentely put it at a wrong place (down) and need to put it back (above) I cann’t drag it up. So the layers stucks at the wrong place. Anybody????

  8. Still learning AP at the iPad and I discover a lot! But there are so many questions......

Anyway, sometimes a question solves itself by working and playing and if not, I'll search at this forum or I'll ask you guys. This fractal was a study to see what is possible with AP. I did figured out how to work with rectangle tools and the layers but not how to rotate and resize my layer in % so I did every layer with assessment. (At the iMac it is cntr/alt/cmd + T and set the % of height and rotation.)

    The result:

  9. Thanks jer for your comment! Sorry about the delay with my answer.

About the gradient: is isn't really a gradient but two colors with a blur. I still have to figure out about the gradients.

I did some retouching as you can see, the ripple at the sun glow into the water and coloured the tips of the wing.

Now I'm satisfied and leave it as it is. So much more to explore!
