In ADesigner, you can use Artboards for which the background color can be set directly.

You make it look too easy! What if when returning to Designer you no longer find it???

If it is not about "New File", as the title of your post says, but about Opening, then the option to set default units has been requested many times.

Alternatively, you can make your own Template/Preset, and insert the photo using Place.

I've seen a lot of "oracles" here like - Canva/Affinity won't keep their promise, and in a year/two/five we have a subscription! Personally, I'm rather worried - what will the graphic industry as such look like in this time horizon? The point is that the rocket rise of AI (its quality), which will still to continue, may completely shatter the existing principles and needs of designers and quality/professional tools.

In a year, and probably much longer (if your OS allows it), the current V2 will still work - no need to buy anything else if you don't want to.

- Optimization of curves, reduction of redundant nodes.
- Support for plugins with which applications can be extended.
- Support for macros/scripts that can be used to perform frequently performed actions.

Very good point! I never thought about it since I never use it, but for Affinity's new market expansion goals it should be crucial to implement it!

I'll just add that on Windows it's entirely a matter of OS settings, so Affinity has nothing to do with it. Simply, if you want to use it, set it up in the OS.

And that's exactly why Canva made a deal with Serif. With Serif's expertise, Canva also wants to win over professional designers.
If you have little experience in an area, it's easiest to buy this experience rather than spend a lot of time developing it yourself.
