  1. The 1.9.1 updates of photo, designer and publisher have all corrupted my embedded file backgrounds. They used to fill the entire artboard. They don't now, either on the edit screen or the exported file. This is on PC, not mac. I posted in the wrong place, sorry
  2. Never mind, I answered my own question. Edit in Affinity Designer (not affinity photo) and then you can just click on a stroke.
  3. Hi I'm trying to apply a vector brush to curves that already exist. I am using a Swiss German keyboard layout, so I'm a little confused how to achieve what is stated in this help doc (see image) since for me that would be Alt with the left hand, shift with the left hand (/ is above the 7) and I don't have a third hand to click and drag anything! Also, I'm assuming that the brushes that came in a bundle on purchase of affinity photo or affinity designer years ago are actually vector brushes... Any help would be much appreciated.
  4. I regularly import pdfs from libreoffice into Affinity. Libreoffice is required for the data entry and statistics side of things. I then move over to affinity to beautify the result... mainly adding drop shadows and outlines to the text to make it easy to read and I do this because Affinity Photo has way more granular control of drop shadows than a spreadsheet program (no surprises there). I then want to select all text but not any rectangles that have been added, so that I can apply the drop shadow and outline. After that I want to select all rectangles and apply an outline and rounded corners to them Having a way to select all objects of the same type would help me out and save me a lot of time clicking the first piece of text in the document and then scrolling and scrolling and scrolling and scrolling ...... and scrolling until I click the last piece of text in the document. I do not want all the text to be in one frame (I may have to move a few words slightly) and even if I do group lines of text Affinity doesn't group them as I'd expect them to be grouped, so grouping text doesn't work for me. It's possible to select everything that's a specific colour, so why not all text or all rectangles (or simply all objects as opposed to text?) This would be a big bonus for me.
  5. Affinity Photo has this great feature that allows us to create colour palettes. I'd like to take this one step further and to be able to stipulate which colour palette I want to be my default colour palette (it keeps defaulting to Greys. I have a main document with loads of embedded documents. Every time I open an embedded document it defaults to the Greys colour palette. Most of the time I'm only opening up that embedded document to change 1 word and the colour of 1 rectangle. And the rectangle is to be one of the colours in the colour palette I would like to set as default....
  6. In most computer programs I use (if not all of them), if I want to select odd objects here and there I need to use the control key and click them but if I want to select a contiguous set of objects I use the shift key and select the first and last object of the set I want to select. In Affinity Photo, this is true for the layers panel, but in the editor window it is not true, I need to press shift and click the various objects I want to select. Having two different shortcuts that mean "select the objects I click and only the objects I click" in the same program, makes things very confusing and having the shortcut be shift and not control (command on mac) has had me clicking the wrong button hundreds of times.
  7. Hi, I'm importing pdf files exported from libreoffice on a regular basis (once or twice a week). I'm using Affinity Photo on a Mac. Every time I import I have to go to affinity designer in the MacOS dock, whether I'm already in Affinity Photo or not, just to get that popup, which often does have the correct settings, just to click import. That's several more clicks and mouse movements than I'd like. I'd love to have those settings set as default and to skip that window entirely set via preferences, so I can go and change them if I want to, but only when I want to. Also I have the dpi set to 700, but since the text is a light colour which is highlighted in a light colour its basically hidden and illegible, so I can't actually see that it has remembered my import settings from last time.
  8. I'm definitely interested in the default tool either being the move tool or me being able to choose the default tool. I have a lot of documents that have embedded documents and every time I open an embedded document I then have to remember to change from the move tool, i.e. the tool I was using 2 seconds before I entered the embedded document.
  9. Thanks. That solves the problem for me too. imac high sierra.
  10. Not a problem for me since I'm talking vector objects and alignment or reduction in size because I'm adding lines
  11. +1 for this idea, and extend the idea to any object. Yes, I'd definitely like to be able to put everything and anything inside a table cell... image, object, group, text layer (with style, outline and drop shadow) and even embedded documents). In answer to etageneuf, yes that is a workaround, but when we're creating fancy tables that are likely to change quite often the ability to just add rows or tweak the table and not have to manually change the alignment and position and size etc of the images/objects/embedded documents would be great.
  12. I have odd things happening with cell sizes in tables too
  13. That looks great, IF you have a lovely clear photo with well-defined edges. I'm taking photos on almost full zoom without a flash from a distance of 15-20m. The people in the pictures are under spotlights, so the photo is clear, but not as clear as it probably needs to be for that to work. I need an undelete function and a way to change brush shape and rotation at speed.... having to move to the brush window and slide a slider to rotate the delete brush, but having to guess if I've rotated it enough because I'm in another window and so the brush shape isn't showing on the image is a little bit frustrating and not a particularly efficient workflow.
  14. Yep, went and found it after I asked for it :D Thanks
