CreateSean, if you download the SVG, you can expand the document dimensions (File>>Document Setup) and then copy/paste the curve as needed until you have the size you need. Then combine the curves to create one background image. The attached file was created this way. It's 720px square, but it can be as large as you want with that method. To size it as a rectangle shape,  create a rectangle that size and then in your layer's menu, drag the rectangle over the curve to make the curve constrain to the rectangle. See file attached. I hope this helps.

Thank you, I think I understand.

  2. Hello,

I have figured out how to use a pattern fill with a jpg/png but what I want to do is use an SVG pattern to fill and have it repeat and be scalable.

What I'm doing is grabbing a pattern from here (web ready) http://www.heropatterns.com/ and placing it into my new web design. However I can't do that with Designer without converting to a png. Is it possible to do what i want? If not, I can convert to png, but I am unable to scale the pattern down. See screenshot where the cogs are oversized compared to the container. In the screenshot I converted the svg to a png and used that as the pattern fill, but it doesn't scale and kind of feels like a hack doing it this way.

FWIW, I am new to Designer and design in general.

Not sure how to describe this but here goes..

If you set the ratio to 6:2 where the 6 part equals the full width of the image then if you set snapping on and have Snap to spread selected in the snapping then you can quite easily move the crop up and down whilst the vertical edges remain snapped to the spread and still retaining the 6:2 ratio.

PS The crop will also snap to vertical guides but not much use when in crop as you would have to have added them before activating the crop function

Where do you turn on snapping?

I believe createsean wants to reposition the actual crop box, constraining it's movement to vertical only. Like shift dragging a rectangle.

    Yes that exactly.

Ah, i see. Thanks toltec :)

Currently it's not possible to constrain the movement of the crop frame.

Well that's unfortunate. Consider this a feature request. Hope to see it in the next build.

  5. I have a photo that I'm cropping to a 6:2 ratio which is fine. However when I move the crop tool vertically I can't figure out how to constrain it so it only moves vertically and not horizontally. I would expect holding shift while dragging would restrict movement to one direction only.

What happens is that I move it vertically to where I want but inevitably I have shifted 1-2 pixels to the side and now have an white bar on the side after cropping.

How can I do what I want?

  6. Is it possible to have a global layer or layer group that could be applied to all artboards in one file?

use case: I'm doing a website design and have a header, navigation, and/or footer in use on all artboards, but make a revision to content/copy/dimenions/whatever I'd like it to update across all artboards in the same way that changing a global color does.

Is this currently possible? If not where do I make a feature request?
