  1. Would make my life (and I think many others, too) just easier :)
  2. Cause it's much more comfortable to just use a tool then do a real subtraction ;) +1 from me
  3. I think it comes very handy in when I toggle the UI and have the pure workspace also the guidelines should be hidden. If I made extensive use of them for construction it would be handy to toggle the ui and the guides with that tab key (maybe as a preference -> hide guides with toggle ui)?!
  4. Interesting video, good to understand the creation process - but it would be nice to see how the prototype comes alive in the web -> which software is used for coding, howto from AD to X ... :)
  5. I think at this point of developing AD Betas are quite important cause they add new features and correct come glitches. But if a certain level will be reached that works for most of the people, most of us will use the stable version for production :)
  7. Hell-Yeah - absolutly great! :D Ph’nglui mglw’nafh Cthulhu R’lyeh wgah’nagl fhtagn.
  8. Crosby, looks very good to me :) I think all stands and falls with the needs you really have. :)
  9. Also there is Super Vectorizer as an cost effective Alternative in the App Store and got some good reviews. But I don't know if the results are good enough for your needs. https://itunes.apple.com/de/app/super-vectorizer/id704139979?mt=12
  10. How about to give Autotracer a try? It's free, it's online - but it might be not as good as Vector Magic, but a try is it still worth, as long as AD doesn't give us an automatic trace ;) http://www.autotracer.org/
  11. Wenn Du die Beta verwendest kannst Du in den Voreinstellungen auf Deutsch umstellen :)
  12. I think that was not the last time someone asks for it ... as I'm looking forward, I think for myself I also have more demand for the Publisher than for Photo cause of media production for print and online ;) But only patience my here help...
  13. The lines are definitly version depending. Many agencies and printing companies refer to the default standarf of Acrobat 4 (PDF version 1.3). The effect is that in this version all transparencies, shadows, ... will be converted into bitmaps with a default and the splitting occurs. If you use the Acrobat 5 settings (PDF version 1.4 and obove) the transparencies will be true transparencies, shadows and so on. If an older RIP ist used (Postscript based) you must use the 1.3 setting which is preffered by many companies for avoiding errors. If the company/agency uses a newer interpreter like the APPE (Adobe PDF Print Engine) you can use the newer format. There will be no lines in the true modern PDF format. As I am right AD uses the Aplle Quartz Engine for creating PDF files. I have Yosemite installed and here the PDF version is 1.4 (Acrobat 5). Maybe this is helpfull for understanding. If you are unsure ask the agency/company if they are able to use the newer version, it is very usefull :)
  14. I have used the Create Palette From Document command to fill my own palette with the allready used colors. Now I played around and added some more colors, but I don't need all of them at last. Is there a way to delete the unused colors of the palette automatically? It should be cause of automatic creation is possible :) Also, I can't edit a saved palette color. I can rename it and delete the fill but I can't change the color. Is this correct or does the beta jokes on me? I think it is important to change an existing color -> which also changes the color of all objects that used this fill.
  15. It is possible to import EPS files, but there still some glitches. I have some strange effects with CMYK-colors and with very old files. Still testing ... If you can't upload it directly, try to compress it as a ZIP file, then it should work - or mail it to the friendly staff here, they are always have a helping hand for us :) Oh, and if you're not using the beta version - try downloading it for free and test it again :)
  16. *smiles* I'm really curios if the baked corners survive how it will be translated to german, ... :)
  17. I testet CMYK colors, cause of export problems. I made a simple rectangle filled with the color 100M100Y15K and saved it. All is ok. Exportet it to PDF and importet into AD, all is ok. If I export to EPS (whatever option I use) and import it into AD the colors went totally wrong in CMYK. If I open the EPS in Illustrator all is correct. So I think the export is ok but the interpreting on the import is something wrong. Mmh, thought about posting in the bug thread, but on the new beta is also ok?! Colortest.afdesign
  18. The display of (CMYK) colors in the swatch palette is still not fine enough. In the screenshot you can see two green tones with: 1) 55C + 100Y 2) 100C + 100Y and they look nearly the same but with 45% more Cyan the lower one should look more darker, same thing to many other color combinations/nuances. And for CMYK they look very, very bright. I don't need to see the last percent difference, but with more colors of the same base t's getting confusing.
  19. Tony, due it's a project for a company and still not approved by it I'd like to send it to you via email and not via public download. Hope that's ok for you?! Where should I send it? I checked again for blend modes and found nothing like it which could cause a rasterization. I also made a new doc with a red rectangle and only some white text on it (as a test) and it's 1.4 mb - much to big for the data. Any help will be appreciated :)
  20. Right now the Serif Windows products will be a very good alternative to the top dogs out there :) Just give them a try, there are free versions for download to try them out available.
  21. I have a very small Logo - a colored rectangle with some white letters on it. So far so good. Filesizes: Designer = 1.5 mb PDF = 1.4 mb (text in curves or as font, doesn't matter) EPS = 45 kb (smallest size is the same) Same thing as I do a new doc with a simple colored area an some text on it. I think the EPS-size is worth the true estimated filesize here. But the AD and PDF filesize is so much more, is it overhead, just not compressed, or ...? And can I do something about this? Or will we gain more controll over PDF specific adjustments with the prepress overhaul? I tried also to open the exportet PDF in Illustrator and save it as standrd .ai format = 3.1 mb filesize - wow! Then I tried the EPS in Illustrator and saved it as standraf .ai format file = 95 kb. Bigger as the original but also ok. Same thing with all files I do. It seems that AD provides larger PDF files than others. This is difficult for me caus size always matters ;) See screenshot for difference.
  22. Is this specific to RGB? If I try it for the CMYK sliders I got always the correct values. Just wondering ...
  23. Windows users already have a good alternative to other products. Try PagePlus, DrawPlus and PhotoPlus also from Serif. Check for them and you will find some things in Designer und Photo very similar ;) http://www.serif.com/#
  24. Tabs aren't very comfortable this time in AD, but they work in textframes as they should. Just draw a textframe and open the paragraph window. There you can find the dafault tab setting - here it is 12.7mm. You can change this if you need equal tabs, but you are free to insert your own tabs on the left - it works just as the guideline menu. Not perfect but working.
