Thanks for letting us know and I'm certainly sorry to hear this @bellyanalytical.
I have 'bumped' the development report with a copy of your file now - to bring it to our teams attention once again.
    I hope this helps

    Hi @5c11,
Welcome to the Affinity Forums & thanks for your report!
I can confirm that our team are aware of an issue whereby strokes with pressure applied are expanded to incorrect widths when using Expand Stroke, and this is logged with our developers as a bug.
I've 'bumped' this development log for you now, to bring it to our teams attention once again.
In the meantime, I may be able to improve the results in your expanded file in order to more closely match the 'before' document.
Can you please upload a copy of your .afdesign file to the below link before you have expanded these Curves:

Once uploaded, please reply here to let me know. Many thanks in advance

    Hi Dan,
Thanks for your response! I've uploaded the design above to Dropbox.
After playing around with it some more over the weekend it seems like the strokes expand as expected if I use the Pencil tool rather the Brush tool? If that's the case then I'm fairly relieved - I like Designer and was really digging my new workflow with the Apple Pencil. If I couldn't use it for print work I was going to be pretty disappointed. But Pencil  tool vs Brush tool doesn't really make too much difference for my designs so I'll try using that going forward.
Kind of a gnarly bug though - hope they manage to get it sorted sooner rather than later.

No problem at all, thanks for providing that for me!
I've included this within the development report to assist our team in resolving this issue - it's possible that this will occur less when using the Pencil Tool depending on the specific brush/tool settings, so it's certainly an option to use this tool whilst our team works to fix this bug
Edit - Apologies, I forgot to confirm that I'm returning a document to you via Dropbox where this should no occur when exporting to PDF. Essentially I have expanded the Strokes with Pressure applied and then used the Contour Tool to match the previous visual size.
    I hope this helps!

You need to have the Move tool selected and have no layers selected for that to work.

Having this problem out of the blue, i've tried deleting and reinstalling designer, no luck. any time i make a selection with the marquee tool, or select sample color, the selection jumps up and to the left. i've attached a video of the issue

    Hi,

I am using https://imageoptim.com/macto further compress images for the web without loss of quality. It would be nice to have the options of the tools used in this program in Affinity Designer, too - they are open source - I hope their license would allow this. ...

Otherwise I'd have to wait for scripting capabilities of AD ;)

    cheers

Custom hotkeys (keyboard shortcurts) are already available for text styles in Designer, so I think it is a safe bet that they will be available in Publisher as well …

(I’d be also interested in the use of multiple cursors in a layout application … hmm …)

    Ah,
    aha -

ok - i only found the popup when you click on the button in the red circle: "path component" in english. the screenshot above refers to the popup related to the button in the green circle - that one is new to me.

well, basically i understand what you can do there - for example:

i was putting a path description into the path component " ./subfolder/" which automatically exported that slice in that "subfolder" in the export folder.
then you can also add "variables" which modify that path - or filename. for example the "slicename" variable will output the name of the slice. you could do:

"/weirdexports/[slicename]/" - and your exports will be put in a subfolder "weirdexports/slice1" ...

in the other popup you can modify the filename in the same manner.

    (@mattb5906)

and I just found out that you just have to click or doubleclick right below "name" in the list to be able to add your own variable. there you can enter a name - and on the right side a value.
you are able to reuse snippets then ... (i guess in all documents)

    but ---- !

I'd like to see more variables.
For example, I don't like it to navigate to the correct export folder every single time again when I am editing another document. There could be a variable "document root" which will contain the path to the document.
so you can setup a neat export  ..... setup ...

bellyanalytical reacted to JT_Allen in Including AppleScript Functionality in Apps
How many of you would be interested in including AppleScript functionality for Batch processing in Photo, Basic Template Creation is Designer and automated Catalogue/Book Creation in Publisher?

The key is to automate repetitive tasks and let you focus more on the finer details on creative work?

I am a bit of an AppleScript fanatic and like to automate certain things to free up my mind for the refining process of creative work.

Adobe used to have AppleScript functionality built-in to their design apps (Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign) before, but now I am not so sure since they went and made Creative Cloud (I don't like subscription software).

The intention of this proposed feature is only to automate the basic repetitive tasks for batch work and creating ready-made template designs in fewer steps and free up the creative mind for higher level work such as refinement of a project; in a smaller phrase to be more efficient with your time.

    Hej,

I'm used to double click on the magnifier in Adobes programs to switch to the 100% view - would be cool to have it also in Photo and Designer. Tiny but nice.

    :)
