  1. I expected the Stroke panel align buttons to control this ... & they do, but unfortunately only for closed curves. For open ones, they have no effect, which I guess in a way makes sense: open curves do not have an inside or outside. So the only thing I can suggest is to use the "Draw behind fill" option, but that is going to hide part of the brush stroke, so it won't really do what you want.
  2. You may be able to mitigate this by reducing the "Tracking speed" setting, either in Logitech Options or in System Preferences > Mouse. I am not sure if changing it in System Preferences will affect your Logitech mouse, one or the other should have the effect of making the pointer a bit less sensitive to movement.
  3. Except that there is nothing simple about how Inkscape has vectorized it. Consider for instance the wreath, part of the path3764 [Curves] layer (note the plural). This is what it looks like with the Node Tool selected: As @toltec mentioned, auto-tracing it produced hundreds of nodes in dozens of individual curves (one for each red node). path3764 also includes two sets of the books, pie, candles, notes, etc. groups, each with many nodes & curves. For example, this shows the nodes for just one of the candle groups: It is actually 5 different curves, two for the outlines of the flame & candle, & three others for the interior parts subtracted from it. As you discovered, dividing path3764 into individual curves will just for this one part will produce 5 stacked black curves, so to 'unfill' it you will have to subtract each interior curve from its outline one, for example like in this one candle.afdesign file where I used compounds so you can see each shape's contribution to the object. It still has all those nodes, but at least each compound layer can be moved, resized, or whatever as an individual object.
  4. Are you asking for the release dates of the 1.6 versions of the Affinity apps, or of the AP workbook? As Patrick said, they are hoping to release the 1.6 app versions in the next few weeks, & the workbook after that.
  5. As I understand it, plans to develop an Affinity DAM have not been abandoned, but the project has been put on hold indefinitely until sometime after Publisher has been released. I suspect this may have something to do with the native Affinity file format that both Photo & Designer share & presumably Publisher will as well.
  6. On Macs, the equivalents for forward one & back one are CMD+] & CMD+[ respectively. Also pressing the shift key moves to the front or back of the layers stack. (These commands are on the Arrange menu & also can be accessed in the main toolbar "Order" buttons.) Right clicking on any layer on the canvas pops opens a contextual menu. The last item on it is "Find in Layers Panel" which will scroll to that layer in the Layers panel, expanding a [Group] or [Layer] layer if needed. At least on Macs, dragging a layer to near the top or bottom of the Layers panel window will scroll the list if not all of its items are visible. However, there is a slight delay before scrolling starts & if the layer is dragged too far above or below the ends of the list scrolling won't begin or will stop, so it can be a bit tricky to get it to work.
  7. If you tell us which Affinity app you are using (Photo or Designer) it will be easier to tell you what specifically you should do, but in general you will need to begin by setting the document to have a transparent background. From there it depends on the kind of layers (pixel, vector, image, etc.) your document has. I am not sure what you mean by "SVG layers" in the title. Are you referring to importing an svg file?
  8. I don't think it is as simple as that. To begin with, there are not that many companies that have decided to go subscription only. Even companies with a small or shrinking user base can remain profitable for a variety of reasons & ones with a large base can fail due to mismanagement or simply investing too much in developing the wrong things. There is also the ever true business axiom that it is hard to win customer loyalty & easy to lose it.
  9. You should get an email invoice for anything you purchase from the MAS. You can change your payment method through the "Account" quick link on the Featured, Top Charts, or Categories sections.
  10. I think you are quite mistaken about what the majority of users expect. If anything, it is that they expect to pay for upgrades every few years if they want to get the new features marketing departments tout as "must haves." However, more than anything else, I believe most want the choice to upgrade or not, if or when they think it is worth it to them. Basically, it is that Adobe's CC subscription model puts strict & extensive restrictions on the use of their products, & that Adobe even reserves the right to disable the software remotely at any time if they think users are or are about to (!!) violate any of the TOS. Most CC users don't even seem to know what the TOS include, or that they need to read three or more densely worded legal documents very carefully just to know what they have agreed to.
  11. What does the popularity of apps have to do with the sustainability of the subscription model? I don't see any obvious correlation between the two. You might want to review Adobe's Terms of Use carefully to make sure you understand exactly what you have agreed to. Please note this from the second paragraph (emphasis added): It also might be a good idea to study the Software included as part of the Services terms as well, including but not limited to the restrictions on how many devices you most likely can activate the software on at any one time (two) & how many you can use the software on simultaneously (one).
  12. Where on that chart do you see mauve mentioned??? Click the chart for a slightly larger & clearer view ... or maybe clean your glasses
  13. All I can say for sure is that on Macs, there is a liblibtiff dynamic library at path /Applications/Affinity Photo.app/Contents/Frameworks & one of slightly different size at the same path for Designer. I assume the extra 'lib' in the name means something but I have no idea how that relates to the info at libtiff.com.
  14. Which list? Using https://www.pantone.com/color-finder returns 100 colors each for purple & pink ... & 72 for Mauve.
  15. I don't have any experience with either app but there are several topics that include replies from people who do. Searching the forum on either app name should help you find some of them but hopefully you will get some replies here from others that will save you the hassle of doing that.
  16. I am not so sure it is that simple. I took a quick look at the documentation at http://www.libtiff.org & noticed there are many references to machine-specific routines & a lot of different ways image data can be exchanged between the library & an app. There is also mention of an interface that can be used to override the default compression scheme, but there seems to be more to it than just setting a flag. But then, what do I know?
  17. I have to ask why you would want to do this. You can't edit a layer unless it is selected -- otherwise how would this or any other app know what you want to edit?
  18. I am not sure what you mean about "100% black/white" -- are these items imported as vector shape or pixel layers?
  19. I agree, but at the same time the list of requested features is huge. Many of them have been deemed "essential" or "must haves" by a few users, including many that most users would never use. So this is also about which ones would benefit the most users, as well as how much work it would take to add & debug them without destabilizing or otherwise compromising the features we already have. I suspect if everyone compiled a list of their most wanted features & improvements, there would be very little agreement about which ones are the most important.
  20. Unfortunately, you can't save different workspace configurations & recall them. This has been requested by several users. The developers have said this may be added to some future update or upgrade, but there is no guarantee that will ever happen. However, you can configure panels in many different ways, including 'undocking' any of them so they 'float' in the display, grouping them differently in the left or right Studios, & enabling/disabling individual ones from the View > Studio menu flyout (& assigning custom keyboard shortcuts to them so you don't have to go to the menu to do that). You can also double-click on a panel's or panel group's name to minimize it to just the title bar & single click on that to expand it back to its previous size. The main toolbar & the Tools panel can also be customized to include, exclude, or rearrange its items, & you can also assign custom keyboard shortcuts to activate the tools. All these configurations are 'sticky' between app launches, so while there is just the one workspace configuration, at least you don't have to keep setting it up repeatedly.
  21. You did not say if you were using Affinity Designer or Affinity Photo but for both there are "Lock" & "Unlock" items in the Layer menu & a Lock icon at the top of the Layers panel. You must have a layer selected to lock it.
  22. You should be able to get similar effects using Affinity Photo's Channel Mixer adjustment, for example with settings like this: I suggest experimenting with different Blend Modes & Opacity settings to see what works best. Average seems to work fairly well at 100% opacity on the images I tested with; while Screen, Add, Glow, etc. were much too strong & artificial looking unless I reduced the opacity considerably.
