  1. Hi Deborah, and welcome to the forums. While I don't believe there is an alternative way to break the paths the way already mentioned, Designer does have plenty of shortcuts. You can learn about them here. I understand you find the scissors useful, but you can also break multiple segments at once instead of individually. Hold Shift, and make all the points at once, then break the path.
  2. I attached the most recent one. I hope you can figure out what's wrong. And thank you for your support. Also, the edited information in my other post, why might that be? (Using the download link of an earlier version installs the latest version) ec5669e4-6129-45e4-9a9e-509c6091e846.dmp
  3. Oh man I still can't use it. i'm still getting that dialogue of an Unhandled Extension on the launch. Edit: Is it actually possible to download and install a previous version until this issue is fixed? I picked up on something strange. I tried installing version 1.5.0.12, but when I launched the program and faced the usual problem, the loading screen said this version.
  4. I don't fully understand the artboard tool in Designer compared to Illustrator. I'm used to using it similarly as changing the canvas size manually in a bitmap program. When I find the document size I'm happy with in Designer, I click "Delete" to remove the artboard from the Layers panel and remove the gray background. I then have the document size I want to work with, but I'm not sure if that's the proper thing to do. As for the second issue, I can relate. I love having the ability to create various sublayers, but the overall Layers panel is a bit slow and the indicators are not too clear. Not a big issue though.
  5. I recently watched one actually because I too struggle with some drawing principles. On YouTube, Art ala Carte and Christopher Hart have tutorials on drawing cartoon styled drawings. For hair, here are two from Art ala Carte. Link 1 Link 2
  6. I misread MikeW's post. When he said AD PDFs, I was thinking AI PDFs. So yes, it sounds like there might be something up with AD's PDF exporter.
  7. Well that's awfully silly for how long CorelDraw has been around. Those are well known file types for the standard graphic designer.
  8. Actually, taking another look at it, it actually is pretty accurate. I always avoided it since tight areas can be a problem, but overall I'm finally finding that it is precise. https://sendvid.com/qngndtc5#
  9. Aint I clever? Haha. Yeah the scissors and knife are two separate tools. The reason I don't like the knife in Illustrator is because the drawn cutouts will curve depending on how the cursor drags, whereas DrawPlus' knife tool will cut only what is performed on the drag, and the cut will not curve. I think it's important to be more precise in an operation like that, especially if there's a specific shape I want to tackle. Thank God this isn't surgery.
  10. I can't test it out since I'm currently unable to launch the program, but I thought holding Shift while clicking allowed multiple paths to be selected in Affinity. Is that what you're trying to do? If so, Ctrl is the wrong option. That will duplicate or select a path in a group.
  11. I agree with Oval, and it looks like Alfred does too for obvious reasons. The scissors tools seems pretty pointless too me in Illustrator for the reason Oval mentioned. Just break the path with the node tool. If there was such thing called a strokefinder, now that would come handy. I do look forward to the knife tool, and I like how it functions in DrawPlus more than Illustrator.
  12. I wouldn't say the new icons look bland. It's a pretty clever approach in making different designs out of As'. Plus, I think I see why they chose to update the icons. Affinity is a POWERFUL alternative to the Adobe suite. They probably wanted to give their icons that more potential look to indicate a battle. I, personally, think it would be a neat idea to have Designer's icon as the main logo of all of Affinity's products (silver), and use the old icons for the applications. I do still feel that Designer has an awesome logo that screams power. And added. Thank you, sir.
  13. I guess it couldn't hurt, though I could do without to give my honest feedback. I always just pull up the Stroke tab and double click the field if I want a precise size.
  14. I haven't used Affinity Photo yet, but I know you can export different slices in the Export persona, and those objects, along with layers, can be batched, but you can't batch the files within the tabs. Sorry. I noticed that feature has been requested.
  15. So you want to have the width field already highlighted and ready for typing for when you pull down the stroke flyout menu. Is that what you mean?
  16. Whoa! Lots of feedback since my last visit. Well I did, and I still do, but assuming that any future applications after Publisher will use the same style as the new icons, I will create ones to match the old. Really? I'm a bit shocked but satisfied that I'm not the only one who feels that way. The icons are always important to me. I didn't realize there was software other than ViPad that was similar to Fences. Truthfully, I've been thinking about switching to a Mac for about 6 months, and I still can't make up my mind. It's such a big change. The Fences alternative, Desktop Groups, looks interesting. Even though I'm currently a Windows user, I thought Finder > Applications in Mac is just where the applications are. I didn't think there were further locations.
  17. I assumed he meant within the program's actual settings. If there is no licensing issue, I guess I too could come up with icons; along with any other future Affinity applications - only if it's allowed.
  18. Eh that's a bummer. Well I just wanted to check. Those are interesting icons though. Thank you for the suggestion.
  19. I just want to know if it's possible to revert the Affinity icons to how they looked before. They certainly don't look bad now. They look very neat and professional. It's just that something I do is sort all of my programs in their own categories. All office applications together, all security applications together, and so on. I want to make a category called Multimedia and have the Affinity programs in there, and I like how there was a picture inside each triangle indicating what they're for. They quickly jump out at you telling you what they can do. So I just want to know if there is an option revert the look for the icons like in the second screenshot here and possibly any future apps. If not, it's no problem. I just love organizing my own computer workspace.
  20. I got that same error message, though for, I couldn't even launch the program. I'm so glad to see I'm not the only one who got that dialogue. Mark Ingram said he'll take a look at what caused the crash report.
  21. What? But I read it all. He changed his post. I want my money back!
  22. True on that, but he wasn't actually talking about combining the indicators. He was talking about combining the colors, as shown in Figure A. So I'm afraid you are disqualified. Just thought I'd "fill" you in (for another pun).
  23. Well the various problems I've been having with Windows over the years, I find that their older operating systems are ironically better and more secure, and it's not always necessary to upgrade to the latest and greatest. I won't get into all the details of why I left, but I basically just feel they are pushing way too much, and my system was practically hacked with an update I had previously set off. I think more people need to be alert in just how dangerous Window is today. It's all about tracking.
