  1. Thank you very much for your responses. In regards to #1, I do plan on using the program for commercial use. It's my goal to start my own business by making readable comics for kids online. In the exception of #3, you're saying that as long as I take full responsibility in making sure that family does not take advantage of the product key or use the program for commercial use, it would be okay?
  2. That looks fantastic. You have a lot going on there.
  3. Instead of creating a new topic, maybe I can ask about my concerns here. I am thinking of switching to a Mac; not that there is anything wrong with the Windows version, but more so with the Windows machines. As much as I want to purchase the Windows license, I might purchase the Mac one instead. 1. If needed, how does one deactivate a license? Five activations is grand, but let's say for a very improbable instance that I running into problems with five machines. How would I deactivate the licenses so I can install the program later. 2. There was a discussion in another topic that there are still bugs in the finalized Mac version. Aside from the betas of the next version, will new patches still be made to the previous version if needed? (I thought I understood how the updates worked, but I guess not.) 3. Similar to what Alfred asked, does a user actually need to own the computer? Would it be acceptable to lend an activation to a friend as long as I am the primary holder?
  4. Hello Alfred, I'm aware of the rotation difference, but by seamless, I just meant continuous duplicates. What you mentioned is a great feature, and it's what I think is best for the job too, but I just wanted to make sure that Andi knows that there is also a faster way than copying and pasting vectors. Knowing all techniques makes the user experience all worth while. Andi, Something also good to know in Alfred's technique is checking off that lock icon on the fill tool's context toolbar. It will maintain the proportion. If you resize the shape constraining it's size, you can then use the handles to constrain the pattern. Hold Shift to keep the rotation degree steady.
  5. I didn't know this. As one of the staff members explained it to me, I understood that the betas of the next version are what counted as the free updates (until they reach completion). What updates are users entitled to after a purchase of a previous version? And how will Windows users install them since Windows has a different app store?
  6. Another method for creating a seamless tile is the replicate option. First, hold Ctrl/Cmd while dragging the tile to create a duplicate. Then press Ctrl/Cmd J dozens of times to make dozens of duplicates. The replicate option can also create a scale difference. See my example. Video
  7. The way it works is this. After a purchase is made, the buyer has the advantage to run the beta of the next release. The betas are accessible here on the forum. Previous buyers can experiment with each next beta until they reach the final stages.
  8. Interesting idea. I would also like something similar in matching stroke properties.
  9. Yes, I did all of that. I clicked in the field next to the option I wanted, and then I tried putting in an arrow key. Since the mouse wheel can't be integrated, the arrow keys will work fine for me as soon as I can plug them in. And yes, I am running Windows.
  10. It seems that nothing happens when I use the arrow keys. Also, I do use Ctrl and the mouse wheel to zoom currently; even though Ctrl + = and Ctrl + - can be used for the same thing. Are you sure the mouse wheel can't be added?
  11. May I ask if you reported this bug? While it's unfair on your part since it seems you purchased the Mac version that wasn't fully ready, at least they can address these bugs in future builds. As Alfred's post is news to me, no deadlines means more corrections. I think that is the wise thing to do. Being under the pressure with a release date can easily make room for mistakes. Agreed, though I do love their choice of features normally found in photo editors; the pixel tools and layer adjustments.
  12. You sound like you have a well thought out plan. I can't argue with that. ^_^
  13. I do understand your frustration, MikeW. There are dozens of software, appliances, movies, and practically everything that is made very cheaply today, and we're the ones who pay the price. Items are not worked on hard enough before being released to the consumers. From what I've seen of Affinity from the few months I've experimented with it, I have to say I really like the way the team addresses their products compared to how other products are dealt with. Members get a fair warning that the betas are not suitable for commercial use, and the team works on the betas over and over until they feel everything is top notch. I was messaged by a staff member asking about a problem I was facing, and they were able to fix the issue when I told them in the next version. So for me anyway, I find the management is in great hands. Sure, there will always be bugs in complicated scripts, but it's great to know how determined the staff is in fixing them. That doesn't come easy today.
  14. To give my input, I have to say that I enjoy having both these options available. I wouldn't be able to tell what the font looks like without the previews, and the live on-page preview is a quick way to see if the choice works.
  15. In the View menu of Affinity Designer, there is a way to rotate the canvas. I want to add shortcut keys for rotating left and right. When I'm in the preferences, it doesn't seem like I'm allowed to apply an arrow key or mouse wheel command for a shortcut. Either of those two keys would be most useful for me. I just want to check if there is a way to do this and perhaps if there is something I'm missing.
  16. I haven't used Photo for myself, but you can accomplish a fade effect by having a gradient on a shape with 0% opacity on one node and 100% opacity on the other. After that, drag the shape beside the picture's thumbnail. It will create a gradient mask.
  17. Hello Kiaora58, Welcome to the forums. If you are using Designer, then use the transparency tool instead. It's the one directly below the gradient tool.
  18. When merging multiple shapes (adding), the stroke takes a large leap in size. The shapes I added all had the same stroke size to begin with. And subtracting makes the size smaller.
  19. I understand, but it's not always the case though. When undoing and redoing, I just use the keyboard shortcuts and no other action. A lot of the times, when I redo, I get that wireframe effect.
