  1. jrkay: in the export dialogue you can choose between pages or spread in a drop down menu. Somehow spreads is the default.
  2. Thank you mac_heibu for the details. Agreed on that the printing adjustments needed for multipage publications, doesn't make imposed pages (could not find that word) the optimal output. Would still be nice you to able to do that for shorter publications. However, currently, exporting a 4 page flyer (one folded) as spread, you still get page 1 and 4 on different pages in the pdf. How do you tweak that to 4+1 and 2+3?
  3. When exporting to pdf, you can choose to export as spreads or as pages. This is great, because printers may have different preferences in that matter. However: when exporting as spreads, the pages are exported in straight page order. I'm not sure when this makes sense. For example with a 8 page folder, from a printing point of view, one would expect the following 4 spreads order: 8+1, 2+7, 6+3 and 4+5 in order to have pages that can be assembled into a functional 8 page folder. Any suggestions on how handle that best?
  4. It looks like that the Frame Tool resets to its initial settings as soon as you resize the box, independently of prior adjustments. If the settings are to scale to max fit, it will do so, even if you just had zoomed in the picture. I would expect the "None" settings to be the one to use in that situation, but then it always reset the picture to its size at 72 dpi as soon as you resize the box. I agree that this is a little annoying. I hope it gets some attention.
  5. Thanks AdamW. I removed my master pages, selected all pages and changed the bleeds settings in the document settings to something else, applied, and then back to the initial value. All pages have now correct bleeds on the pdf output. Yes, it is a little unintuitive, so I hope it gets some attention in future updates.
  6. Hi Steveporter. Do you have enabled bleeds in the export dialogue ("more" button at the bottom of the dialogue)? The crossed box is a smart placeholder for a picture. The cross will disappear if you add a picture. If you actually want a coloured rectangle, you should add a rectangle object instead.
  7. I confirm this bug. I have tried with different master pages with bleeds defined, in a document. Only the first page of the documents gets bleeds on the pdf output.
  8. While I do not think animation capabilities is especially on-spot for a DTP, data merging definitively is. I understand that this is not an easy task and that it might not be a priority pick for the initial push of the software, but I do hope Serif consider it for future updates.
  9. While waiting for A Publisher, I have started to use AD to create folders of typically 4 - 12 pages for the last couple of years. When multiple artboards got available, that was made possible. Although, I would not want to move further than 12 pages with AD, because page management is basic at most (no page numbering, no spreads...). As you said, text formatting is lacking some basic functions like lists. But still, the ability to easely export the whole thing into a print-ready pdf with bleeds and adequate color management has been the big incitement to do the work in AD anyway.
  10. I can confirm I see the same glitches as G.M.1986 when using a secondary display (non-retina) on my MBP 2013 (retina), macOS 10.12.6. It happens most often when reconnecting the display while AD is running. It is a little annoying, but closing and reopening the misbehaving document usually resolves the issue. Another, probably related glitch, is the content of the document being suddenly rescaled to 1/4 of its size (1/2 height, 1/2 width) on the external display, and being impossible to rescale to any other size. The solution is, here also, to close and reopen the document.
  11. Previously, we were told that the beta program should start by the end of 2017. Since it usually takes quite a few month before the sharp version is released, that makes it still possible, doesn't it?
  12. Thank you Patrick for your explanation. It does make sense. So we'll have to wait for the 1.6.6 update on the iPad for a light UI, I guess. (Although, I have been quite comfortable with the dark UI so far. Not sure if I will switch)
  13. Where did Affinity Photo 1.6.0 go? I must have missed something, but I can't find any comment on this in this thread nor in the beta forum. Both Affinity Designer and Affinity Photo are moving from 1.5.x to 1.6 versions, and, while AD starts at the logical 1.6.0, AP jumps to 1.6.6. This is of very little importance, but still tickles my OCD somewhat.
  14. Except the fact that the beta actually stops working, this is sort of default behaviour in macOS and nothing specific to AD and ADB. Each single file can be tied a specific application even when several apps that can open them, are present. You could view the Get info window to any AD file and set AD as the "open with" application and be sure to "Change All..". Alternatively you could just throw away ADB until next working version is made available.
  15. Hi Jens, This is a known bug for at least quite some time. Until this is fixed, there is a work-around, if you do not have too much text involved: duplicate and convert the text to curves before exporting (unselect the text object - good to have if edits are needed). Remove then the bad nodes from the text curves that are causing the problem. (see picture in my post linked above) Otherwise, you might want to try to tweek with the eps export settings ("more"-button in export dialogue ) to find a combination where the bug does not quick in. (rasterising options might help but maybe not what you were looking for when choosing eps format). /Miro
  16. I believe all pdfs are opened in points. If you provide the file resolution or let AD guess (that usually works quite well), then you can go in the Document Setup and switch the document unit to mm. Converted size should be as expected. I can imagine situations when points for imported documents make sense, but the vast majority of my documents are also sized in mm. Having the option to set that in the pdf import dialogue would be nice.
  17. One very common scenario is to double-click a file in Finder. Then the behaviour that p_mac describes can occur.
  18. Hopefully, future betas will offer an updated message that makes it clearer why the current beta version is expired. Something for 1.6 betas?
  19. I would suggest you restart your computer. If that does not help by itself, let Disk Utility check and repair any permission issues that may have arisen.
  20. No. I'm seeing this when connecting a non-retina display to my MBP with retina display. I cannot recall seeing this just after a regular wake up without external screen connected.
  21. I believe compatibility of svg between different graphic design apps is not as straight forward as one would expect. What does it look like in a browser? Have you tried different svg-presets? (the "flatten" serves a rasterised version and might not be the one you are looking for if you want editable vector).
