  1. Is there a way to copy a color value of an object to the clipboard for pasting in an CSS file, for example? I need to apply various RGBA values (RGB with alpha/transparency) and am tired of manually typing them for every object. OK, I just found the dropdown in the color panel where you can copy the currently selected color value as HEX. That might be useful sometimes but doesn’t help me in this case. Firstly, I need RGB(A), and secondly the color is applied as color overlay effect, not as standard background color. So, I wish I could just open any color panel and there would be a similar menu as in the color panel to copy a value in different variants.
  2. Fireworks has a “select behind” tool coupled with the regular select tool (which is confusingly called “Move” tool in AD) which is similar in nature. You click on an object repeatingly and it selects the object behind the currently selected one. Very useful.
  3. How do you know how/whether people use(d) that feature? I, for one, would very much like such functionality that it skips to and shows the object selected in the layers panel. It’s just a useless additional step in user interaction having to context-click and click another time to find the object in the panel. Perhaps make it an option in the general preferences for people to decide whether they want to use it (may even be disabled by default)?
  4. Not sure what’s exactly happening but you can attach text to a curve in Affinity Designer, too. If you open the AI, is the text not editable anymore, or just the stroke on the text? If so, you could delete the strokes and apply new Affinity strokes to the text, no? But I would warmly recommend to continue with Affinity Designer. It can already do most things Adobe Illustrator can do (and at a fraction of the price) and it just gets better and better over time.
  5. Also, that talk about how you would only be considered by employers if you put “Photoshop” in your résumé is kinda bullshit in my opinion. Besides, if you know one (PS or AP) you probably won’t have much of a problem getting into the other if necessary. And the more people/companies adopt AP the more it will be accepted. That’s how Adobe got where it is now, too. I hate such stupid comparisons that end up telling people to just stick to the well-traveled paths.
  6. I suppose you are talking about an auto-tracing function? If you followed the discussions on this forum you would notice that this is already planned.
  7. I’m probably annoying by always bringing Fireworks into play but in Fireworks whenever you paste a graphic/object into another document with a different resolution it asks whether I would like to resample the image or keep the original resolution. Eh? Eh? ;)
  8. I think by buying through Apple’s app store you purchase a licence for up to five computers. So, if you work together and use the same Apple ID you can both use the software.
  9. Are you using the latest version of the software? It should be version 1.4, at least.
  10. For a website PNG (“portable network graphics”) or SVG (“scalable vector graphics”) are the best choice for images with few colors while JPEG is best for images with millions of colors. Nowadays, with touch devices being increasingly popular and good browser support I would recommend SVG for your logo as it’s indefinitely scalable without loss of quality – and it can therefore also be used in other media, not just for websites.
  11. In another thread I read just now it was said that the discount was until 15 December.
  12. Yeah, there has been a popular request for a light UI in the feature requests forum already. You can add your vote to that so that the devs will be encouraged to implement that sooner rather than later.
  13. Nonononono, no. I’m not going to let this excuse count. That’s only if you don’t know how to use it to its fullest potential. But I can understand that given that you people are probably professional software developers but not professional web developers. Just guessing but to me that looks like a simple JavaScript issue that when the blog item is the “current page”, clicking on it will prevent the item from reloading the page. The only thing that’s needed it a modification of that particular part of the script. That doesn’t even have anything to do with Wordpress itself. Edit: There, I’m doing the work for you. It’s in /static/js/script.min.js – the script is minified so I can’t give a specific line number but with a simple search for “data-active-page” you’ll find the offending part: l.on("click",function(t){e(this).is("[data-active-page]")&&(u.close(),t.preventDefault())}) The simplest solution would be to just remove the t.preventDefault() function. This will cause the link to reload the current page on click but that’s a very minor annoyance, if any, in my opinion. It will make the blog link work properly, though.
  14. People, stop asking the same stupid questions over and over again. It won’t happen any quicker that way.
  15. Will you also exclude people that are not members of Facebook and/or Twitter for that?
  16. Coming from Fireworks exporting lots of photos for use on websites I’m also used to such a workflow and would very much love this in Affinity Designer.
  17. No, you don’t. You can create artboards with the artboard tool that is hidden under the move tool, as stokerg explained. The placement of this tool (and the fact that it’s a “tool” in the first place) is still being subject of heated debate.
  18. The beach ball is typically a sign that the system itself is very busy with an application, i. e. that the application can’t respond to anything at that moment. So if you see the beach ball there is nothing the application (or the developers) can do to tell you what it’s doing since it means it’s just too busy dealing with itself, i. e. it has no resources left to tell what it’s doing. See also: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spinning_pinwheel#System_usage That means it’s not an issue of the application but you probably need more RAM.
  19. And not that it tells anything about Serif’s software but I’m currently still running Fireworks CS 5 (released in 2010) on El Capitan. Yes, it starts feeling old (especially with the new OS UI introduced in Yosemite) and has a minor bug in the image exporting workflow but it’s still working alright. I think we can assume similar longevity for Affinity.
  20. I think I’ve requested this a while ago already. And if not then consider me in for that feature. I’m using AD for website designs and nowadays browsers support hypenation so it would be useful to have that in AD, too. This way I can show clients a design that reflects the eventual look in the browser more realistically.
