mmuller reacted to AdamW in Affinity Publisher Public Beta - 1.7.0.384 (RC1)
Status: Release Candidate
Purpose: Improvements and Fixes
Requirements: 64 Bit Win 7 SP1 / Win 8.1 / Win 10 (>=1607)
Download: No longer available
Auto-update: Available
Hi,
We are pleased to announce that Affinity Publisher build 384 (RC1) is now available as a download from the link above. To be notified of further updates please press follow on this announcement thread
We are very happy with Affinity Publisher 1.7 and are moving towards the final stages for launch, but would still urge some caution with respect to using this version for critical work as it is still possible we may have missed something that may cause you issues.
That said, please note that we aren’t done yet - we are still working through reported bugs and hope to fix as many as possible before launch. After launch we will start a new Customer Beta for those who wish to have early access to on-going updates and fixes.
We hope you enjoy the product, and as always, if you've got any problems installing or running up, please don't hesitate to post in this thread.
Any problems actually using this version please make a new topic in this forum and we'll get back to you as soon as we can. Please feel free to leave general suggestions and comments in the Discussion Forum.
Many thanks for your continued feedback.

mmuller got a reaction from A_B_C in fonts don't import into Adobe Acrobat DC
@pdh you might want to try turning off the live spelling checker on a document that size - I'm no expert but if it's checking 365pp continuously it may be a drain on your system to perform that all the time...

mmuller got a reaction from PaulAffinity in Workflow, and again workflow
Having used Affinity Designer/Photo and now Publisher in a full time design and photo editing capacity since their introduction and having raised a few issues myself both for Mac and PC versions I feel that this thread could almost be the opposite of Timo's suggested paid for by serif and more of a paid for rant by Adobe.
I ditched Adobe CS as soon as Designer and Photo became stable releases after their beta versions and haven't looked back since. Sure there have been annoying work arounds at times, but nothing deal breaking. Sure there are features I would like to see ( mesh distortion of vectors for example, or mesh gradients in designer and one day maybe some rudimentary 3D positioning, rather than just rotate and shear in Photo) but in general for day to day print and web layout deisgn and image work both packages have been more than equal to the challenge. Even producing 36pp magazines for clients in designer was acheivable...
Publisher, the missing link, is coming along at a rate of knots and bringing with it welcome updates and additions to both the other applications as they progress through the 1.7 beta - lets also not forget that apart from the initial purchase - not one of us, not one - has had to purchase again for any of the features we have all been clambering for.
Personally, if I were Serif/Affinity I would bump 1.7 to 2.0 and charge everyone again for an upgrade, they definitely deserve the financial incentive to keep improving this software, through bonuses and salary increases - which is hard to do without continual investment from us.
Not a fanboy, even though it sounds like one, but want to balance the argument above. No puppies were harmed during the typing of this post.

mmuller got a reaction from Patrick Connor in Affinity Publisher Public Beta - 1.7.0.133 (mac)
Thanks Adam, something to play with over the weekend. Nice to see inner/outer bleed on facing pages.

mmuller got a reaction from Uncle Mez in Affinity Publisher Public Beta - 1.7.0.58
Happy to see PDF Export now has bleed fixed too, I'd say this is almost usable.
One small bug/issue - if I place an image and change its size/position or move it within its frame, if I then change the shape/size of the frame then it resets the image placement fill. Maybe the 'image properties' couldbe removed somehow if the image has been manually altered within the frame?

Sure, but have you seen our Facebook feed? "When Publisher" is the most common comment on every post. (It used to be a mixture of "When Publisher" and "When iPad"). I also appreciate why everyone is interested and wouldn't have it any other way

mmuller got a reaction from Alfred in Missing Font List?
Hi All,
Just wondering if like the 'notification' we could somehow get a menu item to display all fonts used and those that are currently unavailable to the document. Pretty much all illustration/layout programs have a feature except Designer.
Apologies if this has already been asked for, but I would think it's quite an easy 'win' for the roadmap?
Regards,
M

mmuller got a reaction from A_B_C in Scroll window when cropping - Affinity Photo
Any chance of getting the viewport to scroll when using the crop tool at a high zoom level. Currently in Photo it requires zooming out to get close and then zooming back in to finalise the crop corners.
In Designer the crop tool scrolls the viewport when you reach the edges - this is the same as Illustrator and Photoshop's functionality.
