  1. I wouldn't mind the ability to change the size of the layer thumbnails like you can in Adobe apps. There are times that the content isn't large enough to see it with a small thumbnail
  2. If you try to do anything to the layer, ever other layer becomes visible. Sorry if I wasn't more specific. We need a true isolation mode.
  3. You don't mask either layer. You correct any color or tone flaws in the low frequency layer and you correct any detail flaws in the high frequency layer. It is possible for some flaw to exist on both layers, in which case, you have to retouch both.
  4. There is Merge Visible and then apply the live filter for Unsharp Mask or High Pass (there is also one for Clarity)
  5. +1. While there is something to be said for the intuitive nature of click and drag, numerical entry is still very important
  6. Well that certainly sucks big time. The developer should have the right to know who is buying his application and who he is supporting
  7. When you start boosting the darks to compensate for underexposure, you are going to get more noise and blotchiness. At this point, I am still going to use ACR/LR for RAW processing as it seems a bit more "controllable".
  8. Separating the forums up by application has been suggested before and so far, it hasn't changed :(
  9. I'm on a 2009 Mac Pro, dual 2.93, 16gb RAM, ATI Radeon 4870 w/512mb VRAM running OSX 10.9.5 and while it's no speed demon, I am not seeing a real lag problem. Have been thinking of updating to a new Mac Pro so I am watching for Serif's response to this.
  10. You can Option Click the layer and it will hide the other layers and to make them appear again just click on a different layer. Unfortunately, when you show only one layer, it is not editable :(
  11. As far as I know, from what I have read on the forum, the profile popup is disabled at this time.
  12. Geez, with all these cats, maybe they should have named the software Felinity instead
  13. OK, my bad. I tried to make a quick experiment thinking black and white were only important on the overlay layer. This time I used an image for the bottom layer and everything worked as expected. I'm not generally a shortcut person and this reminded me why :P
  14. Hi Miguel, I'm curious why you would use a group. Couldn't the same thing be accomplished using a single curve layer as the mask?
  15. Draw the path over the image you wish to mask (make sure the path has a fill). This will create a curve layer above the image layer. Now drag the curve layer over the thumbnail for the image layer and drop it.
  16. Hi Alan, Yes, they do have some holes in their color management. Leaving Convert Files To Working Space unchecked does leave the embedded profile alone but there should definitely be user preference notifications like Photoshop has. I always want to see any mismatch conditions.
  17. Hopefully as things get added, we can transition to Affinity apps but as they stand now, they can't replace Adobe's apps.
  18. OK, I must be doing something wrong. I painted a black rectangle on the lower layer. Painted medium gray on the upper layer set to Overlay. I then tried painting white on the overlay layer and just like before, the rectangle remained the same and white areas surrounded it.
  19. I tried suggesting that but so far it hasn't gained traction: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/10847-photoshop-apply-image-functionality-needed/ Hopefully, if we can get enough people interested it might make the cut.
  20. Apparently not. I just tried experimenting with the defaults setting and it remembers stroke and fill but not mode.
  21. Easiest way to start learning is by reading manuals or using help files. Do things step by step, practice what you read and if you have questions post them. Having never used a digital camera, computer or the software involved, it is going to seem very intimidating. Just be patient and keep working at it and remember that we have all been where you are at one time.
  22. If you are referring to a clipping mask, draw a path over the area you want to clip. In the layers panel take the path layer you just created and drag it over the thumbnail of the layer you wish to clip and drop it.
  23. If you change the red node's type, it doesn't change the fact that it is a start/end point so it stays red
