So far, I'm very happy with Affinity Designer as an alternative to Ai.  However, one thing that I would request is that the addition of a persistent real time x,y coordinate for the cursor position be available as at least an option.

The ruler bars and Transform tab coordinates don't provide the real time cursor position feedback I need for my workflow.
Something in the statusbar of the application, or dock-able panel would be nice.

    Thank you for the consideration.

@Matt : thanks, I won't have to ask the same question regarding the Info Panel in Affinity Photo, you were faster than me ;-)

@MEB : ok with the Transform Panel, however the cursor coordinates in real time would be more than a "nice to have" in your next release ;-)

Thanks to all of you guys!

    Cheers

Hi iDUN and Welcome to the Forums,
I'll move this post over to Feature Requests so it's seen by the Dev team.  This has been requested a few times before and this is a link  to one of the many threads on the subject which mentions some 3rd party solutions to autotracing.

Please can we get the feature of Auto Trace of Monochrome images into vector? Just as we have on CorelDraw and Adobe Illustrator?

That's true but Inkscape is a full program. I may be silly but I don't really want to install another full program. Are there other options that are free or cheap that work JUST for tracing images?
    Thanks!

PS yes, I would love it is AD could have it added!

    @AffinityMakesMeSmile
This post by rt-it (and it's subsequent replies) are in the Feedback section. The users here are asking for a new feature to be added or expressing surprise at the current feature set or functionality. That is the exact purpose of this forum section.
Your earlier post was hidden as you effectively told a user off for asking for a feature using the mechanism we have provided for users to do that, and was out of order. Your more recent post is much better as it explains why they may be disappointed when features are compared side by side, but I would suggest users can request whatever they like irrespective of how much Serif chooses to charge. Just because the Affinity Suite is "more than enough" for you does not mean that it is finished, or we would not have the feedback section.
Please do not post into the feedback section telling others that they are wrong to ask or expect changes. That is not what other customers should do.

I don't understand why dimensional tools aren't provided. Any drawing usually starts with dimensional requirements and then as the project progresses it is often necessary to make measurements or re-scale ensure that key features are within bounds.  Please Please Please add a full set of dimension tools.

    Yep. Need it!!
AND a way to adjust the drawing to scale. So that I can measure meters on an A4 page.

This is about the only thing that still prevents me from ditching Corel Draw in favor of Affinity Designer.
The ability to add configurable snapped dimension lines ( that auto-dimension as needed) is essential to my use case...

Because some are waiting tooooooooo long for better rulers including a “change origin point” feature,
we made a flexible ruler for dm, Berthold points, Pica points, Didot points, DTP Cicero and other units that you can change easily for your own needs just in seconds. Even if you need furlong, light-nanoseconds, Fournier point … no problem.

Now you can have many rulers with different units at the same time. And they even can measure curves. Some backgrounds can be found somewhere.

Have fun and help to improve Affinity apps.

I think that Pica need to be a ruler unit in Designer and Publisher.

    @Oval
Please can you clarify one thing about this attachment (currently intelligent_rulers_upd2.afdesign)?  The line called "DTP Cicero" is surely "DTP Pica", being 6 units per (English) Inch. [This is standard "Postscript Pica" not American Pica or French Pica .] "Cicero" is, as far as I know, always defined in terms of the larger french Royal inch, or is "DTP Cicero" a term I have not come across meaning the same as "Pica"?

Furthermore, Do people still use use the [French Royal ] 'Cicero' and Didot ? That customer in the other thread seems to want to claim something back for France, but is it common?
Indeed, should we adopt other ruler units like the CSS standard Q point 1/4 of a millimetre? Cicero and Didot (or Didot point) are in my opinion less useful than Picas, but could be included, if so what else.
I understand these are the values
     - French Royal Inch is 375,000/13853 mm (approx 27.07 mm or 1.066 English inch)
     - Cicero  [cd] is 62500/13853 mm (approx 4.511658 mm or 0.1776 English inch)
-- which is 1/6 of a French Royal Inch (and 12 Didot Points).
     - Didot Point [d] is 62500/(12*1979*7) mm =  15625/41559 mm (approx 0.376 mm or 0.0148 English inch)
-- which is 1/72 of a French Royal.
Does anyone disagree or have an opinion on rulers they themselves want?

I don’t know if you’ve made enough posts to be permitted to amend your thread title, but if you have then you should be able to do so by editing your original post.

I am posting a third set of custom Textured brushes for Affinity Designer:
Textured pack 03 Intensity brushes (zip file - big - 30+mb)

These are more remakes of custom brushes I created for Expression3 back in 2004-2007. Plus quite a few new custom brushes and variants.
This set is also a continuation of the previous sets posted. Strokes developed with a moderately organic, mostly (un)natural media, water or oil based pigment like art approach in mind. There is a big variety of brush "looks" included. None of these are strict emulations of traditional media effects. Each is a little "digital" in its own way. There are quite a few wash stroke variations in this set and a few wild cards.
There are quite a few additional rugged drawing/wet inking brushes as well.
There are also several brushes with raged, dashed or random textures.

Example images of the strokes are attached here.
Hope the user base here finds this third set interesting and useful.

Once the digital copy is out there is also creates instant pirating these days unfortunatly.
With the layout of the Photo and Designer books, I haven't found #4 to be an actual issue and all the other points really just revolve around environmental concerns and honestly there are far more wasteful things we all consume everyday that could be cut down on than a book that should last a very long time.
The only point I'd see some validity on would be a digital book could be purchased and updated without additional cost or loss to the end user.  Affinity seems to continue development, which is fantastic but eventually have to imagine that some of the tools can change (ex.  HSL adjustment tool in the more recent versions).
