  1. @get in shape Did you try doing a quick print yourself to see if the lines show up when printed? I've had the same thing happen to me time & again- I'd see a line but then when I zoomed in on it; it would disappear. So far it hasn't affected the printed material though. Like- once it was printed there was no evidence of the lines. I sympathize- it's scary because just suppose they'd still be on the printed doc?! :38_worried:

Sometimes if I changed my exporting settings it would make them disappear as well.

(Guessing I for sure know what you're talking about- without a pic, it's a shot!) :12_slight_smile:

Thanks for confirming that, could you please attach the file (and any linked documents/images) to the following link for me?

    I uploaded the file now.

There's no physical size limit to a PDF export in Affinity apps, however most PDF viewers (including Acrobat) have a physical PDF size limit that they'll display which is 200" x 200". This doesn't affect the above issue, but I thought it may be useful info to share :)

I didn't think you'd do something like that to us, but I was trying to consider all possible options. :)

  3. Hi all!
I'm having troubles with the exporting to a pdf in APub. I have a large document; it's 8 foot by 4 foot. But when I go to export as a pdf I get a very small file size- all of 1.52 MB!!   Is there a limit to the size of the pdf you can do & therefore it's downsizing automatically? Earlier when I'd exported the same file, same settings (I just revamped the design a little & actually enlarged the document dimensions by 2 feet) I'd gotten a file that was close to 1GB. Does anyone know- is there any rhyme or reason behind this?? See attached files for my settings I used.

Thanks so much for any light you can shed on the subject!

That is way different. The Clone Brush Tool just copies directly from the source. Inpainting analyzes the surrounding pixels and replaces the brushed part with a more natural look. Well sometimes. If the sampled pixels include parts that you don't want as replacement, it can get ugly. That's why I'm suggesting the ability to freely choose the sampling area.

yeah you're right. I hardly use the Clone Brush Tool; Inpainting's my favorite!:) I can see your point & agree that it would be nice at times, but for what I use it for it usually does great on its own. Which impresses me time & again!   [Thanks Affinity Creators!:)]

My hints do not touch the issue you mentioned:

Right. I forgot to clarify, sorry! What I meant was simply that I was doing it your way & had found that the CTRL click method handy to know if I want one precise thing especially.

Possibly besides (or instead, if it isn't related to a document) a screen video would show your specific issue of "nothing gets selected". Make sure to show the complete page (or spread) and the layers panel.

I would but it's business info that can't be shown just everywhere...:|

Honestly I still have difficulties with selecting objects inside a group on page with move tool, too. I am simply not used to press an additional key as a default function – I'd rather appreciate I'd need to press one if I want to select the entire group only. Or, to be able to kind of unlock the group property of being selected automatically when an object on page is meant to be clicked.

Neat idea! That would be sweet being able to sort of unlock your group.. What I do right now is group & ungroup however I need it for the moment. Which definitely isn't the fastest thing on the earth.. It works. :)

    By the way:

Another way to select an object inside a group is to Double-Click the item on page: the 1st click selects the group, the 2nd an object inside.
Additionally an OPTION-Click does select the grouped objects in their layer order and enables you to select objects behind others.

Once an object of a group got selected by a double-click for instance then another Double-Click will switch to the Node Tool + highlights its single nodes and offers their individual node selection.

p.s.: On mac a CTRL-click would select the object AND open the context menu. Instead CMD-click selects the object only in macOS.

That's what I was currently doing for selections within a group....

I tried creating a sample file, but that one cooperates perfectly so I don't know what the deal is..

    Thanks for your responses anyway!:)

I totally agree - it doesn't seem very useful at this point in my photo editing scheme. I'd be nice if there was some documentation about it and maybe there is, but I haven't located anything yet.

Again, thank you! I'm a happy camper again! :)

  8. Hello Affinity Users,

I'm posting this out of curiosity & slight frustration. I'm using the latest version of APub (1.7.3) & my document is a good mix of pictures & text & some vectors. When I go to select a group of a picture & rectangle it simply will not do anything. I can click on it all I want & nothing ever happens. I always end up going to the layers panel & grabbing it from there. It's clearly on top, not in the background at all. Weird..

Anybody else notice this or is it my file alone??

    Good day!

  9. Hi all!

Would anybody mind telling me what I'm doing wrong or what I need to do in this scenario: I have this document all finished in AD, designed in CMYK, exported to a pdf & taken to a print shop. However, the results are not as we expected. The blues are purple-ish which will not pass because it's part of the brand color & has to match. What do I need to do so my colors match the printed material?? DOes it make any difference if the printer uses Adobe & me Affinity?

Any advice or tips? They will be greatly appreciated!

Your other suggestion is also possible if you right click an actual 'Layer' object in the Layers Panel and select the 'Properties' option you can choose a colour in there that is used for on the handles/bounding boxes on objects.

Why am I failing to see a 'Properties' option? I right click on the actual object, none there. I right click on the layer in the  Layers panels none there. ??? Missing an obvious I'm sure, but what?

& I'll admit I tried to awhile to get new colors, but then I decided that I rather like the rainbow stripes anyway. :)
