  1. The missing icon might be a simple as a small hiccup/cache issue with Windows Explorer's item cache. Hit Windows+R and enter the following command, then hit Ok: ie4uinit.exe -show This will run a small utility program that originally got introduced with Internet Explorer 4 (therefore the name), that will clear/recreate said cache for you.
  2. For Windows: That's most likely fine. They'll at least see there are like 5 activations within a day or two all from the same internet connection. This won't require rocket science to determine it's most likely one household. I'd expect the same for Mac, but no idea how this would work store wise etc. If you want a definite answer, probably write their support a mail about this. Random reply in a thread might be missed by employees looking for unanswered questions first.
  3. That's fine and intentional as far as I know. For the app itself, you're a different user with a different account. The data is isolated (imagine this being a school or work PC, you don't necessarily want to have the same data/licenses on all accounts). While I don't have an iPad, I'd assume this is fine. Licensing terms state that others in your household may use the program on your devices (as long as they're not using them commercially). That doesn't stop people from having their own AppleID. Ideally, couldn't you just login with your own AppleID, download/activate the programs, then switch accounts again? I'm assuming it supports multiple users?
  4. It's just a more manual way to trigger the installs always done by the Microsoft Store app in background. Out of curiosity: Do you have any similar issues installing other things from the store? Either case, maybe try asking on the Microsoft Community Forums. Make sure to mention you went over SFC/DISM and all files are verified to save some time and skip common first help practices.
  5. On the positive side, this says those packages are properly installed, so not really sure what's the issue. At least I'm out of ideas for now. You didn't use any registry keys or group policies (or tools) to uninstall/remove/disable any system components (like Cortana, Windows Search, Internet Explorer, etc.), did you?
  6. Hm, this almost feels like some strange hen and egg problem. First, just to be sure, open the Microsoft Store app, click on your Library and see if there are any still running installations. Other than that: Have you tried installing the VC Libraries in Windows' Safe Mode with Networking? Something else you can try to do, open "Powershell" (you should find an entry in your Start menu), then enter the following commands: Get-AppPackage "Microsoft.DesktopAppInstaller" Get-AppPackage "Microsoft.VCLibs.140.00.UWPDesktop" Both should spit out quite a few lines of information and ideally the very last line each time should state "Status: Ok"
  7. Didn't open Photo 2 so far. Opened it and: I don't have the Left Studio either. However, I also see nothing that should be there. What happens if you enable "Window" > "Assets"? If I do this, the Left Studio appears as expected.
  8. Shoot. You shouldn't have to run it weekly, but that's one less potential cause I guess. Another potential idea: Go to "C:\Windows\Logs\DISM" and delete "DISM.log". Then go to "C:\Windows\Logs\CBS" and delete "CBS.log". Then try installing once again. Once you see the error, keep it open and copy/save the two files you just deleted. Look for issues on your own near the end of each or attach them (contents should be save, but might include your username and/or names of installed programs).
  9. To go back to the defaults, try "Window" > "Studio" > "Reset Studio" (the very last point in that sub-menu).
@LeeThorpeYou misinterpreted the question. This is not about "how to register", but Mario is getting a connection error trying to login in the app.
  11. Sounds as there might be some package storage corruption on your disk. Right click your start menu and open "Windows Terminal" (or "Powershell" or "Command Prompt") with Administrator permissions/elevated. Then try to run this command: sfc /scannow If it repaired issues, rerun it. If it found no issues, do the same with the next command: dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth Repeat it until it reports no issues (or unfixable issues). If you get the later, there are other options to try, but this would definitely be a potential reason here.
  12. Woah, okay, that's really strange. I definitely get the regular size icons when using the normal icon size (on WIndows 11).
  13. Works just the same, so your system is reasonably up to date. You should probably try to let Windows verify system files are okay and updates/packages are properly installed. Note this might take anywhere up to an hour depending on your system, drive speed, number of issues, etc. so don't necessarily waste your time waiting. Please note the following steps might undo/break some of your custom Windows/UI modifications. Try opening an elevated command prompt (i.e. run cmd/powershell as administrator) and run the following command: sfc /scannow This will take a bit, then report back whether it fixed issues or not. If it did fix issues, run it again until it no longer reports issues. Once done, do the same with the following command: dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth Again, run it repeatedly until it no longer reports errors (or it reports being unable to fix the issues). I can't guarantee that this would fix these issues, but it might be the reason. If it reports issues it couldn't repair, there are different options to continue. The easiest, less-nerdy approach would be installing Windows on top of your current installation. This will keep all files and programs/settings intact, if launched from within Windows, but create a backup just in case.
  14. The icon/blue border issue has nothing to do with Windows 10 vs. Windows 11, but icon sizes. Click anywhere on your desktop and hit Ctrl+Shift+1 (or Ctrl+Shift+2) to switch to large/medium icons and you'll see the outline. Hit Ctrl+Shift+3 to get back to the default (32x32) icons with no outline. I'm not really sure why the icons behave this way, considering the biggest icon shows a higher resolution icon in the middle. But that seems to be a Windows thing, not Serif/Affinity (but I might be wrong here).
  15. Any chance your Windows version isn't up to date? Hit the key combination Win+R, type "winver" (without quotes) and hit okay. You'll get a version information popup listing your Windows version. Below "Microsoft Windows" you should see a version name/number, like "Version 22H2 (Build …)" What's listed for you? You don't have to copy the whole build number, just the part outside brackets. You can also paste the whole window as a reply (and mask the "licensed to" bit, if you don't want to show).
  16. Sorry, that doesn't seem to add up with my experience and now I'm feeling confused, too. If I convert 90GBP to EUR I currently end up at pretty much 100EUR give or take (conversion rate fluctuation, etc.). Converting 75GBP to EUR I end up at 80EUR. So now let's look at my order confirmation, it feels as if VAT (19% in Germany; "Umsatzsteuer/USt" or "Mehrwertsteuer/MWSt" are the German equivalents) was added on top of that rather than "taking the hit": I don't mind as much, since I want to support the business model, but it still feels odd/confusing.
  17. If you're worried about the store versions, I had no issue buying the Universal thing on Serif's store page, then download the Microsoft Store version and activate that by logging in to my existing Affinity account. I think you can also buy the store versions, associate them with your affinity account, then use that account elsewhere to activate a trial, but I couldn't find the Universal bundle on the MS Store, so went this way just in case, while also keeping the auto-updates active.
  18. In theory, yes, although keep in mind version 1 lasted for quite a few years now. I bought my Windows version back in 2016 or so and even back then it's been out for longer on MacOS.
  19. I think you misunderstood their suggestions. They most likely just try to funnel most common questions and issues (like "How do I…?" or "Can someone help me with … not working?") to the forums, but public forums aren't great for personal details. You should remove your email address from your original post to prevent unnecessary spam (there are enough bots collecting mail addresses in all kinds of forums after all). Then drop an email of your own to affinityorders@serif.com with all details you can provide (name, payment method, invoice number, etc.) and be patient. I'd bet they're getting swamped right now. Edit: Have you tried resetting your password (using the "Forgotten Password" functionality)? My browser had an old password stored and the domain name changed some time, too, so I had a few issues finding my latest password (and I'd also just get a note about a potentially wrong ID).
  20. That's not how I've ever interpreted the licensing terms. While it opens with "personal use" (which I find kind of misleading here at first), the second sentence about commercial use doesn't contain any limitation on the number of machines. It's more directly a non-transferable right that only you posses. Or in my layman terms: You buy one single license and this allows you to… Install and use the software for personal use on any PC you own or control by you and anyone in your household. Install and use the software for commercial use on any PC you own or control exclusively by yourself. The commercial section/terms have a similar limitation, basically allowing one employee to use a single license on any of their computers or allowing multiple employees to use a single license consecutive on a single computer. As such I'd say you only need a single V2 license and you may use it on both your stationary work/office PC as well as your laptop and/or your personal work PC at home. Let me know if I'm misinterpreting something here.
  21. I don't really mind not having a separate upgrade price. That's fine for me. I kind of expected a "V2" to happen when updates more or less suddenly stopped like half a year ago. However, I have to agree with the sentiment of others: Dropping V1 support the moment V2 is announced and releases feels a bit off and disappointing. I actually like the way Microsoft Handles their standalone/one-time-purchase office releases these days. You'll still get bugfixes and security updates, but you're simply locked out of new features and additions, if you don't get the new license. On their end, I would have announced an upcoming V2 together with the last update for 1.9. This way users wouldn't have bought it "last minute" and get disappointed. Existing users would have had way more time to make a decision. (But let's be real, the 40% launch discount with no set end date is a nice gesture, but also preying at least a bit on FOMO. These are practices I'd say this company certainly doesn't have to use for people to get the upgrades.)
  22. Ah, just seen another post where it's recognized as a known issue, so guess this can be ignored.
  23. Hi, I'm still testing the waters with Publisher after using both Photo and Designer on and off since they became available for Windows (mostly for simple edits, fixing images, etc. for composition stuff). So after some initial issues with getting the layer sorting right (I'm still having massive issues trying to move a rectangle for clipping into a Live Filter layer for example), I stumbled over some weird issue and I'm not really sure what the issue is. Is this a bug in Publisher? So far it happened multiple times on new/fresh documents; there's no difference whether I'm editing a master or regular page. First I've tried an approach like I've seen in the recent live stream – since I found it very intuitive: Yeah, that looks… strange… The gaps between the "tiles" depend on the current Box Blur Radius and change with it. In my example, it's set to 50px. Also note the white blurring/vignette on the border. So at first I thought this could be some odd graphical artifact, but it's also in exported images. The mask I've included has no influence on this though. Also it seems that sometimes I'm able to "fix" it, just by dragging the Live Filter outside (as a root element) and then back in. Oddly enough, if I change order (so the image is above the Live Filter), the image is no longer blurred as expected, but these gaps are still there: The only guaranteed way to fix this issue for me seems to be moving the Live Filter all the way up as a root element: And this is where the interesting part starts! Sometimes, then dragging the Live Filter back inside the Picture Frame makes it appear (somewhat) correct, again with the odd vignette outside: Changing the order once more, just for being a completionist (now working fine as far as I can tell): Also noteworthy this doesn't apply to the Box Blur filter only, but some others as well. I'm not 100% sure if some filters are just immune to this (like Voronoi) or if it's really just coincidence. Either way, I've also attached the document in the broken (artifacts.afpub) and fixed state (artifacts-fixed.afpub) – and sorry for the size, didn't notice it at first and didn't want to redo everything. Edit: Just noticed this also happens with top level images and live filters, so doesn't need any Picture Frame to trigger it. Would really love to know if this is really a bug or I'm just doing something really wrong. Thanks P.S.: In case it matters, I'm running Publisher 1.7.1.404 with an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 on Windows 10 x64 (1809) with driver version 430.86, but this doesn't seem to be a driver/display issue only.
