    Hi Ray,
Thank you for that, it certainly is a good work around and I am very grateful for your input.
    Best regards

    Hi Guys,
just an idea, try using the "Gradient Map Adjustment" to recolor black lines.

    Thanks for the extra information.
I believe that you can’t recolour an Image Layer that contains only the colour black by selecting a Fill Colour from the Swatches Panel because that functionality only affects colours that don’t share the same RGB values (e.g. white (000000), greys (505050) and black (FFFFFF)).
I think this is expected behaviour but I don’t know why. Someone with more experience may be able to give more details.
The only way I can think of at the moment to recolour an image that contains only the colour black with a Swatch colour is to add a Colour Overlay Effect and choose the colour from a Swatch. However, someone else might be able to offer another method. (You can add a layer filled with a Swatch Colour over the Image layer and use a Blend Mode – as in one of my examples in my last post – but the colours don’t always look ‘right’ to me.)
I don’t have much experience of sophisticated colour use as my work is normally quite basic so I’m not the best person to get the best advice from in this case. Hopefully someone else will read this and give you a better answer (which I can also learn from).

You can recolour an Image layer by selecting a Fill Colour from the Swatches Panel or changing the Fill Colour in other ways (Colour Panel etc.)
You can recolour an image within a Picture Frame by selecting the image layer within the Pictrure Frame and selecting a Fill Colour from the Swatches Panel or changing the Fill Colour in other ways (Colour Panel etc.)
Pixel layers, as far as I know, can’t be recoloured in the same way as above and may need to have a Recolour Adjustment applied.
You can also recolour any layer by putting another coloured layer over it and giving it a colour and using a Blend Mode.
My attached sample image and file should give you some ideas but there will be a lot of different ways to do what you want.
    Does any of this help?

Spot colors are recognizable as spot only in the Colors Panel and in the Swatches Panel only in their according documents palette, like other global swatches.

Since in Affinity apps a spot color swatch, assigned to an object, can't neither get copied with this object nor appears in a different Affinity apps palette, I doubt that you might get them as swatches, or even get them as spot colors at all, with a migration procedure of Microsoft files.

This is a weakness in the Affinity apps, I find the UI when it comes to colour is needlessly confusing. I am sure part of it is not using it a lot as I am sticking with Adobe and only testing things here and there on the 3 Affinity apps I purchased. Indesign has it best, Illustrator is good though they give a lot of unnecessary starting colours in the swatch panel. Using Indesign as the example you start out with 10 common colour swatches. Anything else you drop in that document is immediately added to the swatch. So I had job I was working on, I dropped in the 2 colour logo and it was just there, ready to use in other parts of the document. No tabs, switching back and forth, just simple. It may be me but all the drop downs and things Affinity throws in the colour/swatches section just make my head spin.

    You're welcome.
It sounds as though when the server and workstation are restarted, you're getting something different in the path leading to the linked files.
  13. Thanks

One hint, if you have to relink, and all the linked files are in the same directory: When you open the document, and you get the prompt, do not respond Resource Manager; respond Yes. Then locate the first file. All the rest will be found automatically.
Next, a question: You say the file server is shut down at night. Are you also shutting down Publisher on your workstation? If not, you might try that.
  14. Thanks

Hi Walt, done some digging and found the answer 🙂
We have 2 computers and 1 server. One pc was referencing the server by "Name" the other was referencing by "IP" . This meant the address url was different. Managed to get them both referencing by name and all is well.
Thank you and others on here, you have been a great help.
    Best regards

Data or mail merge is a pre requisite, without it I cannot move from my existing publishing software, have been waiting to see that it is in before I purchase since beta days. We print variable data products like pl;ace cards, point of sale price tags, labels etc and without being able to handle variable data, the product is dead in the water before we start. Absolutely love affinity photo, use it every day and know that publisher would be the same :-)
