Dear Forum,
I really like using Affinity Designer for creating graphics used in websites and applications. So I create my project files like a bunch of HTML, JavaScript etc and of course the graphics with Affinity Designer. Then the hustle starts: Every time I create or change something in the Designer-Files I have to export it into a SVG, also one (sometimes multiple) PNG files. Then I can run the build scripts to build the actual application.
This not only is some work, I also have to remember the different export settings I use. The project file repository gets crowded as well with many redundant files.
Instead I would prefer a command line tool coming along with the Affinity Designer, which is able to do these exports for me. It need not be a dedicated tool, it may also be integrated into the main application of course. I am convinced that this feature would make the life of application developers a lot easier.
Summary
Implementation of command line arguments to export afdesign files into other formats like png.
Example:
affinity-export my_image.afdesign --format png --size 100x300 --preset PNG --resample bilinear my_image.png Results in the file my_image.afdesign being rendered in a 100x300px png file named "my_image.png"
 

There isn't any scripting support in V2 yet. We have a dedicated scripting team here typing very quickly but still no definite timeline for release yet. 

What's the point of having States without a way to export? This is a must have! Thanks to consider this.

I also want to use the "Layer States" feature in the Designer👍
For me, I use much more layers in the Designer than in Photo - It would be a great enhancement here. And I have no clue, why this feature is limited to only one app.
Even worse, it forces me to use other workflows only because I edit vector graphics instead of pixels. I hope Affinity is working on a more consistence user experience across their three apps.

I cannot understand why STATES didn't make into Designer. I hope it will be implemented soon.

For those who don't know what is the states panel, you could watch the official video instruction by Serif. 
1. the states panel in Affinity Photo could record the layer hide/show state of the whole document. It's also unspokenly useful in Affinity Designer.
2. the states panel existing in Affinity Photo can't be used when in Export Persona. If we could switch between various states when exporting, it will save quite a lot of time. e.g., this usage I mentioned in the past
3. adding built-in system variable in export-properties for quick referencing when configuring custom filename.

I want to use the software I'm the most confortable with. Also last version of Photoshop is a real mess. Thanks to Walt answer, my compatibility just got improved.

Did you enable the Preference (in the General section) to import smart objects as smart objects, where possible?
