WJC Posted September 26, 2019 Posted September 26, 2019 As shown in the first attachment, when I tried to type my copyright page the text was GRAYED OUT. I spent a good bit of time going all over the program to find the problem but come to you folks for help. The other 3 attachments illustrate that virtually everywhere my setting for text is BLACK with OPACITY being ZERO. Ideas? Quote
walt.farrell Posted September 26, 2019 Posted September 26, 2019 It would be easiest if you gave us a sample document (.afpub or .afdesign or .afphoto, as appropriate) that demonstrates the problem. I look forward to the time when I will be able to help others. Thomas: Everywhere I have seen in which opacity can be illustrated, ALL my settings—in probably 6 or 7 places—show 100% opacity. In the first of 3 screenshots this is illustrated. In the one screenshot I have attached just now, it is illustrated in 3 places. I don’t know what more I can do. If you think of anything I haven’t done, PLEASE let me know. Walt: The first screenshot in my original memo. Illustrates the problem and I really don’t think you want to see a 100+ page book. If you can get your information from a number of dropdown screenshots, I would be more than happy to send them. Your call, my friend. Quote
walt.farrell Posted September 27, 2019 Posted September 27, 2019 The problem with screenshots is that there are a lot of possibilities and we'd be guessing. But no, we don't really want ot need a 100 page book, either. Suppose you make a copy of the book and delete all but 1 page that has the problem. If it still recreates there, then providing that copy would be very helpful. WJC Posted September 27, 2019 Author Posted September 27, 2019 Here ya go. As you can see, everything in the sidebar is BLACK text. That the same for ALL other pages. I also tried to reprint the text. It was grayed out, too. Bill Quote
carl123 Posted September 27, 2019 Posted September 27, 2019 Select that text frame and copy it Then create a new document and paste that text frame to the new document If the text is still "greyed out" save that document and upload it to the forum Quote To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum. If Carl's idea doesn't work, you could Save As under a new name, then delete pages 6-99 from that new document, save, and upload that .afpub file. To describe "anything" which can cause gray instead black is a bit much. As mentioned by Walt and carl123: there are many options which can create that appearance. To detect the reason it is necessary to see many kinds of settings which can't be shown with a screenshot simultaneously. Therefore it is easier and faster to check an .afpub than writing about all possible culprits + asking for screenshots with specific object/tool selection + panel combinations. Copy that frame and paste it into a new document with same color settings. If black text still appears gray then save and upload this new .afpub.
