HELP Needed! Cannot Export PDF with Hyperlinks

Recommended Posts

Greetings,

I'm having an issue with Hyperlinks..

I have a book in a two page spread, with a TOC (I made manually) that has hyperlinks twhich anchor to chapter pages. I keep getting an error message that says "an error occurred while exporting to:" while trying to export ALL PAGES, PDF, with the check box 'include hyperlinks.' Without checking hyperlinks, I can export the document just fine, but when I check it, I cannot export the book.

Can someone please offer some advice?

Hi MTON1826,
Welcome to the Affinity Forum.

Just an idea: This error message occurs, for example, when using a font that the app does not handle properly during export. In addition to using a different font, this might be avoided by converting the text to curves or by exporting to a different, mostly newer PDF version.

In case of hyperlinks 'convert to curves' is no option because it unfortunately would not only reduce the hyperlink to non-selectable (still clickable) but would ignore/remove the link in the PDF. In case the font to display the hyperlink is not used in your successful PDF export this still is an option to limit or detect the issues reason.

Greetings,

Thank you for your replies.

I figured out that I had to switch to a single page spread (from which I originally made the document). For some reason, when I switched over to the two page spread, the hyperlinks and their anchors did not carry over, and I could not export without the error message.

Back to the one page spread layout, the hyperlinks do indeed work, though I had to create an entirely new TOC manually, just to make sure the hyperlinks would work when anchoring them to chapter headings.

We believe the issue has been fixed in 1.8.0 [Publisher beta is currently available if you care to check].
