Michail Posted July 18, 2019 Posted July 18, 2019 (edited) I am aware that this post is not very useful for you, because unfortunately it cannot be concrete enough: I have the impression that the current version of the Publisher is relatively unstable. This can be seen from the relatively large number of crash reports in the forum and also from my own experiences. There is not a day when the program does not crash at least once. Unfortunately I couldn't find any definite causes so far. It can happen when saving, opening or other things. Several times the screen became dark (without crash report), so I had to restart the whole system. Most of the time the program just freezes, so I have to quit it with the Tuskmanager. To be honest, I can't imagine how you're going to solve this when the causes are so diverse and random. But I'm not a programmer. Maybe you can solve it. Can I use the beta for serious projects? Are the files compatible with future release versions? Quote
Staff Pauls Posted July 18, 2019 Staff Posted July 18, 2019 I'll have to answer no to those questions. We'd like to address your stability issues in the first patch if possible. Michail 1 Quote

Sorry, Paul, but I think that needs some clarification. Especially the "no" to the question: 7 hours ago, Michail said: Are the files compatible with future release versions? I think that Michail was asking if .afpub files produced by the 1.7.2.422 beta are compatible with the upcoming 1.7.2 release version. I would have expected a "yes" answer, or a "yes, but it's possible they might not be". A definite "no" to that question seems odd. Edit: And, actually, I'll question the "no" answer to Michail's first question, too. In the announcement post for the 1.7.2.422 Publisher Beta on Windows, AdamW said: On 7/11/2019 at 11:28 AM, AdamW said: We recommend that you use this beta in preference to your store version if you are affected by any of the issues listed below. sophiegwrites and Michail 2 Quote -- Walt Designer, Photo, and Publisher V1 and V2 at latest retail and beta releases PC: Desktop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 64GB memory, AMD Ryzen 9 5900 12-Core @ 3.00 GHz, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Laptop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 32GB memory, Intel Core i7-10750H @ 2.60GHz, Intel UHD Graphics Comet Lake GT2 and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Laptop GPU.
