dosoyoyo Posted July 5, 2019 Posted July 5, 2019 I would like to add a link to a phone number (tel:+4412345678) in an interactive PDF. The Add URL function always creates a 'https://' automatically, so the tel:-link cannot work. From my point of view the automatic 'https://' is unnecessary? Many thanks and best regards Dominik Quote
Old Bruce Posted July 5, 2019 Posted July 5, 2019 Use an Anchor instead of URL. Quote Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.6 Affinity Designer 2.5.7 | Affinity Photo 2.5.7 | Affinity Publisher 2.5.7 | Beta versions as they appear. I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.
dosoyoyo Posted July 8, 2019 Author Posted July 8, 2019 An anchor is there to link to a place within the document but not to an external site like mailto: or tel:, or have I missed something? Quote

Hello, have you managed to figure it out? I am having the same issue. Thank you. Quote
dosoyoyo Posted August 7, 2019 Author Posted August 7, 2019 I edited the link in Adobe Acrobat. Quote
xherdan Posted August 7, 2019 Posted August 7, 2019 I did the same just in different program, thank you Quote
Neurojazz Posted October 18, 2019 Posted October 18, 2019 I can't afford to get the Adobe PDF program, so found an online utility that allows you to edit the hyperlinks and remove the https:// that Affinity seem to add to them (This should not happen really, as not all links are even https!!!) - tested and working for the tel: type links Here's the web based utility: https://www.sejda.com/pdf-editor Quote
marmite Posted January 5, 2020 Posted January 5, 2020 Hi. I'd like to raise this issue again. This is obviously something that multiple users would benefit from. And not, I would have thought, hard to implement. Can anyone tell me if this is on the Publisher roadmap anywhere? (PS Thanks @Neurojazz for the workaround. Though installing a whole new piece of software just to edit a link isn't my idea of fun (I'd rather not go the upload route)). Quote
marmite Posted January 8, 2020 Posted January 8, 2020 Update: Sejda (free desktop version) worked fine for me too. The pity is for Affinity, after all the hard work done in/by Publisher, the "content creator" field is overwritten and comes up as Sejda. Some nice free advertising for them I guess. Quote
Staff Pauls Posted January 8, 2020 Staff Posted January 8, 2020 I've raised a ticket the issue on the telephone uri format getting broken Quote
marmite Posted January 9, 2020 Posted January 9, 2020 @Pauls It looks like I raised the issue in the Publisher bugs forum around the same time that you replied. Many thanks for your response. Quote

Guntar Posted February 5, 2024 Posted February 5, 2024 You can add phone link in Publisher In hyperlink properties: Type: URL URL: https://tel:123-456-7890 Just replace the URL with your number. Quote
KeithStoddart Posted December 5, 2024 Posted December 5, 2024 Using the URL doesn't work for me. Fortunately I still have Acrobat so I can change it there. I wonder if this issue wil be resolved in future upgrades? Quote
Filo Posted December 8, 2024 Posted December 8, 2024 This worked for me on Affinity Publisher 2.5.6: - Select the number and right click Insert Hyperlink... - Select URL for the Type - Clear the URL field and insert: tel:+1234567890 Note that there is no "https://" or similar, just "tel:" and the number. KeithStoddart Posted December 15, 2024 Posted December 15, 2024 Thanks Filo, but that didn't work for me and I am using 2.5.7! I must be doing something wrong!! Quote
Filo Posted December 16, 2024 Posted December 16, 2024 Hello Keith, That's interesting. I have also updated to 2.5.7 and I was able to add a tel link with no problem using the steps above. The link in the PDF functions properly on all my devices: which are running Windows 11, macOS 12 and iOS 15. I wonder what the issue might be. I have attached a test .afpub file and the PDF it generated for you to inspect. There are two links, one created within a Text Frame Layer and another within an Artistic Text Layer, just to rule out any issue with that. They both work fine for me. I have also attached a screenshot of the Hyperlink Properties I have used to make it work. Have a look if any of these help. Otherwise, feel free to upload an .afpub file where you unsuccessfully attempted to add a tel link. I am happy to have a look. tel_link_test.afpub tel_link_test.pdf Quote
