mnh
Hi All, New to Affinity range. I have created a Master Page and inserted special text fields at the bottom of the page (watching tutorials online) for Page number and Section name. I would like these to be on top of any image that is placed on individual pages. For example, I put a double page spread background image. At the moment it covers the special fields. Is there a way to ensure elements like special fields can be on top? Thanks in advance
Old Bruce
On the page with the "background image" use the Layers Studio to move the Master Page to the top of the list, at the very least it needs to be above the image. mnh
Hi guys, Thanks for your quick reply and sharing. I am still a bit stumped though as not quite working. I watched your video, had a look at a demo file with Publisher and re-watched the Sections tutorial on Serif web. At the moment I have 2 Master pages. Master Page B has the following objects: Banner top of page (2-page spread) - 1 rectangle 2 logo elements on the top - in front of the banner (1 on left spread, 1 on right spread) 3 Frame Text objects - bottom pages of spreads for Page Number and Section name fields 1 Rectangle with faint colour across the 2-page spread meant as background to document Now I go to Page 2 and 3. Apply Master B. In the layers panel of the pages 2-3 I see Master Page B. I now place a image that I want across the spread, below the banner and logo, covering the rest of the 2 page spread, BUT not covering the page number and section name. I would like these 2 fields to be in front of the image. When I insert/place image I see it gets inserted at the top of the layers panel. If I move Master page B above image, then image is not visible. I tried expanding the group of Master B in the layers panel while on page 2-3, and then try to drag a text object (e.g. page number field) from Master above the image layer, but does not allow me to drag that. Did I miss something? Or do/understand something wrong? Appreciate your help
carl123
See if this thread helps https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/90703-publisher-master-page-layer-order-problem/ Bear in mind if you want elements (e.g. Page number and Section name) from a master page to always be on top of other objects on a normal page you may be best putting just those elements on a dedicated master page before doing the above Quote To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum. mnh
Hi carl123, Thanks for your reply and sharing. I think the challenge is the same from the thread that you shared, but the solution does not work for me. I already tried putting Master Page as top layer. The problem is that it then also puts the image behind the Master Page e.g. canvas rectangle with special colour tint for page canvas. I was hoping for a way to select the text frames from the master page and say just those should be top of the new image I add on pages 2-3 for example. The only workaround I have for now is to add new text frames to pages 2-3 and insert field names (page number, section name) into them, and place those text frames on top of image that is on pages 2-3. Is this the way forward? Or any better way?
carl123
As mentioned above have you tried having separate Master pages for stuff you want on top of other stuff and stuff you want below them? dutchshader
maybe working with layers on the masterpage would do what you want bannertest.afpub Quote intel core i5, 16GB 128Gb ssd win10 Pro Huion new 1060plus. philips 272p 2560x1440px on intel HD2500 onboard graphics Razer Tartarus Chroma
mnh
Hi dutchshader, Hmhm, interesting ideas. I tried, going to layers on Master Page and moving Text frames to Front. In my example page 2-3 it still is behind the placed image file. If I move text frame "Outside" via layers menu, then I can drag text frame above image file, BUT then it is also no longer present on Master Page and hence no longer on other pages. Maybe a feature idea for future versions of Publisher. I think for now I will limit such pages and where I have them add new text frames with field names to be above image. dutchshader
In my example you would only have to select the image on the image layer and click replace image. mnh
Hi guys, Thanks for your help on this. I am not sure on how to create a Master Page that is a sub-class of another Master Page? Or how do I apply 2 Master Pages to a page?

Right click on a Page and select apply Master then choose whether it is this page only, all pages or something else apply Master C. Repeat except before applying Master D uncheck the Replace Masters check box.
