XENOTpro
Hi, I want to vectorize the image below, but when it came to creating the bend cables I found no way of applying a gradient that would lead to the desired result. How can I rotate the direction in which the gradient is applied to the path? Or is there any other way of getting the result I want?
dutchshader
Did you try the gradient tool? Quote intel core i5, 16GB 128Gb ssd win10 Pro Huion new 1060plus. philips 272p 2560x1440px on intel HD2500 onboard graphics Razer Tartarus Chroma
XENOTpro
Yes, when I use the gradient tool, the gradient does not follow the path.
dutchshader
There is no option for the gradient to follow a path. The only way now is to create a image brush. XENOTpro
So there's no way in creating the result I want in designer?

gdenby
A pen stroke, w. radial gradient, topped by another, but thinner and set to screen blend mode, and a transparency fade from dark end to light. XENOTpro
I tried using 2 paths. One path in solid red and the other path slightly lighter colored with a gaussian blur applied to is. With this technnique I could at least get the center to appear lighter, but still, it's nowhere near a propper gradient and the ends look off. I'd have to move the endpoints to resolve this. Seems way to complicated for such a simple effect.
Aammppaa
v1.7 (currently in public beta) allows you to apply multiple strokes to a path. Studio > Appearance > Add Stroke Layering 4 strokes is a reasonable approximation of the desired effect, and will definitely be vector. Alternatively in 1.6 you can use Symbols to make the wire. Draw the wire path. Convert it to a symbol. Duplicate. Desync and change the top copy to be thinner stroke width and choose hilight colour. Turn sync back on. Changes to the shape of the wire will now affect the base tone and the hilight. Pixel and Poly
I was able to come up with this solution by expanding the stroke and then layering two blurred smaller stroke versions inside. gradient-curve.afdesign Quote Screentone Asset Pack - 80 Vector objects
