Justify all and last line of paragraphs

Recommended Posts

Walt, I am writing a paper in Affinity Publisher. I create a text frame. I am single spacing and justifying. I enable the "Justify Left" button at the top, which to my understanding justifies everything but the last line.I get to the end of what I call a paragraph (a group of sentences pertaining to a related theme, subject, thought, etc. which is subordinate to the total content of the paper). I want to start a new paragraph but without skipping a line. The last sentence of my paragraph only contains a few words. I don't want those few words to be fully justified.

How can I do that?

Thanks for your patience.

Sorry for the misunderstanding. I used a "clipping" utility to clip the section of the desired section of the screen I wish to clip, or the entire screen, then save it to a folder. Then "Choose files" and go to the folder. etc.

Just do the same thing to share your saved *.afpub file here: 'choose files...' to go to the folder where you saved it, and then upload it exactly as you uploaded the file you saved from your clipping utility.

You hit Enter at the end of the paragraph, and that line will not be justified.

You are probably using Shift+Enter, instead, which does not end the Paragraph. If you turn on Text > Show Special Characters you can confirm if you've done that. And if you show us a screenshot of that we can see, too.

If you need it all single-spaced, you adjust the Space After setting in the Paragraph Panel or Paragraph Text Style.

@Phil P: If I look in the file you provided last year, you were (and probably still are) in the case described here above:

Go in the Text menu and enable Show special characters
You will then be able to check if you used Line breaks () or adequate Paragraph breaks ().

For the extra space after paragraph you don't want (the reason why you were using shift-return instead of return key), you have to set Space after to 0 pt in the Spacing section of the Paragraph panel or the Text style definition.

But you were able to provide the screenshots, and more research. Thanks.

There were already many good answers, but apparently without many results, so I tried to explain the same but differently… 🙂

Thanks to all. I'll try it tomorrow. I just can't get it. I think maybe I don't know all of the language you are using, and I guess I'm at a below novice level.🤪

My head hurts, I'm going to bed. But I really appreciate the help.
