liltus Posted July 19, 2018 Share Posted July 19, 2018 Hello, I'm a photoshop user and I'm currently testing Affinity Photo, and I really like it... but there's one feature I can't find, which is "lock transparent pixels" (layer panel, in photoshop) In Affinity, it seems that the only lock provided is for preventing moving layers around... Is it hidden somewhere? Thank you There is a ‘Protect Alpha’ button on the context menu of the Paintbrush Tool which stops you painting on transparent areas. There is a Preserve alpha on many filters which stops the transparent areas affecting the result of the filter. keiichi77 and — Miriam 1 1 Quote Windows PCs. In Affinity Photo it's done on a tool level, so when using the Brush Tool, enable Protect Alpha on the Context Toolbar. I don't think I'll ever quite get Affinity's logic behind their UI. Is it just because we're old dogs and these are new tricks? I don't think so. I can't think of a situation where I would want to lock transparency for one painting tool and not another. And I can't think of any real-world situation where modifying a painting tool would create this sort of magic.
