Why can't I subtract circle A from shape B without getting the unwanted line C?

It looks like a bug to me. A from B creates a Curves object that, if divided, produces the original B shape & a segment of the A curve under it. So it isn't just line C that is the problem -- C is just part of B that never had A subtracted from it to begin with.

Interestingly it worked when I subtracted it from the left side of the shape! If its a bug should I report it.

It also worked for me when I created a new B curve from a rectangle with curved corners added with the Corner Tool & 'baked' that into an almost identical shape as your B one. But for the original the result is clearly wrong, a 2 curve "(Curves)" object, each with its own start/end node:

Interesting subject.

Tried to subtract 2 circles from the RH side of the rectangle.

First try : it didn't work

Second try D : draw circle > select rectangle, >  +Shift add circle to selection, >subtract : it worked.

Third try  E : same Cutout-reply.thumb.jpeg.4d3628df1fd971a69b1026f4b8e0bf33.jpegas above, it worked...

??? ;)

Hi jackamus,

We already have a similar issue logged. I added your file to our report/log. There's no need to report this in the Bugs section.

So to work around the bug, one way is to divide the Curves object that results from the buggy subtraction, place the rectangular shaped curve below the other one & subtract again. But who knows if that will work for other shapes?
