Affinity Designer - Some Feature Requests

Hello, we are working with Affinity Designer for a year now.

We're a signmaking company from germany and make also some advertising stuff like flyers, business cards etc.

 

AD is perfect for us, but some minor enhancements would make our life easier:

 

1. Option for automatically make an artboard when making a new document
2. If we import a pdf file it is measured in points / option for loading pdf files in milimeter would be awesome
3. Improvement in EPS-Import (Windows Version) - some eps files have missing lines when imported or are shown blank - Mac Version doesnt have the problem
4. Enhanced Printing Features: example: when i have 2 or more DIN A4 artboards the printing doesnt fit on the DIN A4 page in the printer and we have to make a pdf and print it in adobe reader / Option for printing selected artboards (ex.: artboard1 + artboard3)
5. Enhanced PDF-Export: Same option like printing (exporting artboard1 + artboard3 / not artboard2) as pdf multipage file
6. Text-Splitting: If we have a graphictext with more than 1 row it would be nice if we have a divide function for making a layer per row.

Also it would be excellent to have folders in the layers panel. (sometimes you need to make more than one group of the same stuff.)

I know groups exist, but folders can divide projects up into sections. PS does have this handy feature!

Groups and folders behave exactly the same way, from how I understand it. Why add something that is already there?

Thanks for your comment, and i know that option. But it would be nice if I haven't to check the box everytime i make a new document. Mabye it is possible to add a feature for autoset that everytime in the config.

I did not even notice that it would not be set permanently.

That was how it worked before.

Perhaps this should be reported as a bug.

Yes, it should. The checkboxes for ‘Transparent Background’ and ‘Portrait’ remember their settings. (Why doesn’t ‘artboard’ have a capital ‘A’?)
