sjmcman Posted January 4, 2018 Posted January 4, 2018 I created the attached PNG by exporting a vector image from Designer, without a transparent background. When I open the file in Photo, it shows as having a transparent background. Any ideas on how can I correct this so the background is not transparent? I've tried de-selecting the Transparent Background checkmark, which does remove it, and saved the PNG. Once I reopen the file though, the Transparent Background selection is back. Thanks, Steve Quote

R C-R Posted January 4, 2018 Posted January 4, 2018 First make sure the exported png file does not have a transparent background: Locate it in Finder, select it, & type CMD + i to open its Info window. In the "More Info" section, if you see "Alpha Channel: Yes" then it does have a transparent background; if "Alpha Channel: No" then it does not. Either way, from what I can tell Affinity Photo defaults to opening any png (or tiff or jpg) file with the Document > Transparent Background item enabled, so pay no attention to that. sjmcman Posted January 4, 2018 Author Posted January 4, 2018 HVDB Fotographie, I tried deselecting the Transparent Background item from Document, but it didn't work. I wish it had been that simple... R C-R, there is no alpha channel, so perhaps this isn't the issue I thought it was. I'm experiencing downstream issues with a pdf document needing to flatten the images because of transparency and perhaps my issues are with that process. Appreciate the insights, all. Steve Quote
Staff DWright Posted January 4, 2018 Staff Posted January 4, 2018 Hi sjmcman, In Designer you can enable transparency in the document settings and then reexport the png file and this will apply the transparency to the png file or in Photo you can use Filters>Colours>Erase White Paper to remove the white background.
