Where is the Cat tool?

The Help file shows a cat shape if you hold down the ALT key and select the shapes menu. I am not seeing it. I see no difference between clicking the shapes and ALT clicking

I am a NOOB with designer so I may be missing the obvious

Not only is there a cat tool, there is also a cat dimensional unit. Try drawing a small rectangle or other shape, & in the Transform panel enter for example "1 cat" in the w or h field. 1 cat" is apparently equal to 710 mm.

That is awesome! I can't think of a use for it but it is awesome none the less
