Larsene
Hi, i need to display the "lost edges" guides (don't know the exact terms in english ; in french, bords perdus, cut in printing process) for a printable edge to edge document. How to display that guides in affinity designer ? Thanks in advance
Staff Callum Posted July 12, 2017 Staff Share Posted July 12, 2017 Hi Larsene, I'm not sure if I've completely understood your question. Are you trying to include print marks in your document? Printer marks can only be added to PDF's you can add them by clicking the More button during the export process and then ticking the Include Printer Marks button (see attached) C Quote Please tag me using @ in your reply so I can be sure to respond ASAP. Larsene
thanks, but it's not my question. Sorry about my english. I wanted to see the bleed guides (thanks for the right english term i saw on your screenshot)
MikeW
There are no bleed guides in Affinity products, if that is the question. There is a hack one can do, though.
Larsene
Thanks, MikeW. I'm a little desappointed with your answer. Hope this functionality will be added to a future version
Staff MEB Posted July 12, 2017 Staff Share Posted July 12, 2017 Hi Larsene, Yes, bleed guides will be added in a future version (no eta). Meanwhile you can use/draw a rectangle with a thin stroke (no fill) to help you visualise the bleed boundaries. Make it the same size as the document plus the bleed area you want to have. MikeW
Hi Larsene, I began with the Windows beta when it was first produced and was also disappointed these bleed area guides were not yet in an application marketed for "professionals." The hack works as described. But it is an extra step. And if I recall, the rectangle is not visible when using an artboard. While it would have also been an extra step, having the ruler guides extend off a page and ne visible would have also worked. Mike
Larsene
Thanks for your answers. Right, it is a must have for professional use, and even free programs as inkscape have this functionality. Nothing is perfect anyway, but i'm really loving AD for other useful tools !

Mike Hi Mike, The workaround also works for artboards. Make sure the rectangle layer is placed outside the artboard layer in the Layers panel. MikeW
Ah, thanks, Miguel. I don't use artboards myself and so couldn't remember. I have used them to aid others, but working mainly in print I find no utility in them.
