bollix
Hello, i have a little problem. I came here from adobe illustrator and I have the problem with export for printing. I wanna have pdf with print marks and graphic fill all the paper, not just resize by print marks.
Staff MEB Posted April 19, 2017 Staff Share Posted April 19, 2017 Hi bollix, Welcome to Affinity Forums :) When exporting to PDF click the More button and check Include printers marks - then select the options you want from the checkboxed. There's also an option to Include Bleed there if needed. Note that there's no bleed preview on canvas at this point. It will be added in a future update. You have to use a rectangle shape (no fill, just the outline) with the document dimensions + bleed area and "center" it around the document to use as a bleed preview. bollix
I do not know if you understand my problem... I just want to have my printed marks like this: http://www.digipedia.cz/uploads/3/dotlace-002.jpeg(so it cover background too).
Staff MEB Posted April 23, 2017 Staff Share Posted April 23, 2017 Hi bollix, Sorry, seems i misunderstood your question. Currently there's no way/option to change the way the cropmarks are inserted. You have to create/build them manually. Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
bollix
Okay, thanks :). Is there any plan for future?
MikeW
If you mean the red lines, isn't that just an illustration for where the trimming will occur? Mike
bollix
Ye, I dont really need that red lines. I mean crop marks in Affinity goes by background not threw background.
MikeW
I'm curious. Is there a technical reason that you would like trim marks, etc, like in the illustration? Mike
myclay
Thanks MikeW for the information. The distractional stuff which flew miles over the topic got edited out. :) Edited April 23, 2017 by myclay Quote Sketchbook (with Affinity Suite usage) | timurariman.com | artstation store Windows 11 Pro - 23H2 | Ryzen 5800X3D | RTX 3090 - 24GB | 128GB | Main SSD with 1TB | SSD 4TB | PCIe SSD 256GB (configured as Scratch disk) |
MikeW
myclay, I do not understand your point as relates to the thread. AD can set whatever you need/want for bleed and include it and the trim/other marks in the PDF. That's not the issue in the thread in so far as I understand it. But yes, I use the equivalent of 3 mm for both bleed and safety. I have gone larger due to what I was creating (large format, billboards, etc.). But never smaller and have never personally had the requirement to do so. Most of the print establishments I work with don't even want the print marks included and in a properly made PDF (such as AD generates) they are not necessary. In the service bureaus I have work for in the past, we never even saw the trim marks/etc., produced by any software unless we opened the PDF in Acrobat or the like. Imposition software by default disregards those items and uses the "page boxes" that are defined in the PDF but not shown. Mike
bollix
Okay, this is the issue im talking about http://oi63.tinypic.com/imjjw5.jpg I just want to know, how tu change setting for trim marks etc just like in illustrator (so the print marks go threw picture instead of by the picture like in affinity option). JimmyJack
Have you: A ) ...specified a bleed distance in Document Setup? B ) ...actually bled your image off the canvas? (it doesn't look like it's bleeding from your images... unless there's more of it than seen in the AI version.) MEB
MikeW
Yeah, the image is not bleeding off the canvas and/or you are not including bleed in the document set up and/or when exporting (the More button).
Staff MEB Posted April 23, 2017 Staff Share Posted April 23, 2017 I wasn't sure what the OP was referring to... but seems a bleed issue after all. It's probably what @JimmyJack said. Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
