Best Wishes for the New YEAR!

This was done late September for a German spirits wholesaler. In

fact, there were 18 such compositions of different products and

makers for a Xmas flyer and part of their new catalogue.

This is also one of the rare instance I can share some professional

work as it does not bare the name of the client.

Studio shot: Profoto flashes and modifiers, 85mm PC lens, Nikon D810.

If personal taste is involved,           Light is free,                       Mother Nature provides the light
discussion is pointless.                   capturing it is NOT.               but talent renders the image.

Happy new year to you too!

Elegant work! I find the background colour very appealing!

Merci Madame!

The choice of the BG colour for this very take was quite difficult,

it was chosen after 8 trails.

The client wanted for each of the 18 shots a sweet, smooth and

warm tonal qualities and all in brilliant transparency. This was not

a great challenge in itself.

What was one is that the chosen BG colour should not be to the

detriment of the spirit colour which must retain its original tone.

Thanks for your comment! :)

I find the foreground very appealing :P

A comment I got was "why… what is that?"

My answer was:

Photography, like all visual techniques, is either a seduction

enterprise (in this case the artistic intent plays a key role) or

a documenting effort.

Here, the document was not wanted but an inspirational represe-

tation of a product.

For this, the usual three steps strategy was used:

  1. recognition — the product in a setup, light and layout
  2. seduction — direction of the artistic intent, colours etc
  3. impact — how to keep the eye on the take using some

    simple, playful visual elements

You are the first to actually see the interest of the beads! Many will

appreciate them without paying too much attention and that is a good

point for me as the beads serve their purpose not distracting the view-

ing experience. And you, Pete, get the other point for seeing their play-

fulness.

It was a bold decision, as it is with light that the goal is usually reached

but I opted for a low key approach on the beads.

HNY and thanks for the comment!
