overlaying logos

I'm very new to all this all I want to do is quite simple, I have a high res logo, I want to make it's background transparent and then layer it on top of a photo, without too much degradation in quality.

 

Please can someone help?

Hi dondarias, welcome to the Affinity Forums :)

If you select your logo and go to File > Export > PNG choose the option for 'Selection without background' from the Area dropdown and you should be good to go :)

But in case you already have the logo and not have the sourcefile, you need to be a bit creative. Download Affinity Photo, use the 'magic wand' to select the background, and hit delete. And then save/export as PNG to keep it transparent.

For raster images Affinity Designer has a selection brush tool you can use for this in its Pixel persona. No need to use Affinity Photo for that.
