DarkClown
Resizing a single layer (no adjustment layers!) ends with crappy results. Maybe it's due to some unrecognized settings I did not setup properly - but in that case these crappy settings are the default. See attached files. Same file was resized using AP and PS ... Staff MEB Posted November 14, 2016 Staff Share Posted November 14, 2016 Hi DarkClown, Welcome to Affinity Forums :) Do you have performed any changes to the layer or it's just an image you imported and scaled up without touching it? Are you able to reproduce this with other image layers? In case it's just an image you imported and scaled up can you please attach it here so we can check this out? Thanks. DarkClown
Hi MEB, I generated this picture (collage) with AP to get some practise with the sw. Since I was unhappy with the resized results including some layers (e.g. added grain) - and I'm aware if the resized picture is re-rendered with the same grain parameters as the original high-res picture this might cause some problems. So I reduced the picture to one single layer, exported this single layer high-res file and resize it in AP as well as in PS ... Attached find the high-res picture I used. And yes, I had the problem with other files as well ... Sorry, upload fails with Error 500?! Any other ways to supply the file?Cheers, Timo Edited November 14, 2016 by DarkClown i7-12700KF, 3.60 GHz, 32GB RAM, SSD, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070, Wacom Intuos 4 Tablet, Windows 11 Pro - AP, AD and APublisher V1 and V2https://www.timobierbaum.com

Chris_K
Hi Timo This is due to the choice of resampler. PS automatically choses a resampler for you, but in Photo the default in the list is nearest neighbour. This is quite a simple method and can be a little bit brustish leaving hard edges which produces the result that you reported. If you use nearest neighbour in PS too you will see the same result. If you change the resampler to Bicubic in Affiniy Photo you should get much better results. Lanczos also produces good results but this can be a bit more intensive computationally Serif Europe Ltd - Check the latest news at www.affinity.serif.com
DarkClown
Hi Chris, thanks, that solves the issue. Maybe it's a good recommendation to have "bicubic" as the default resampling method in AP as well?Cheers, Timo SrPx 1 i7-12700KF, 3.60 GHz, 32GB RAM, SSD, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070, Wacom Intuos 4 Tablet, Windows 11 Pro - AP, AD and APublisher V1 and V2https://www.timobierbaum.com
