bbwd
I cannot change the document size in File ▸ Document Setup because the dimensions boxes are greyed out. There is only one art board within the document which is the same size as the document. Does the art board need to be smaller than the actual document size to be able to resize? Can anyone help? Staff MEB Posted October 27, 2016 Staff Share Posted October 27, 2016 Hi bbwd, You can change the size of the artboard directly using either the Transform panel or the Move Tool (dragging the bounding box handles on canvas). Just make sure the artboard is selected in the Layers panel (the Document Setup dialog will reflect those changes). When working with artboards there's isn't a defined document size since it depends on the position and size of those artboards on canvas. You should change the Artboard's dimensions directly as described. PluginJunkie and bbwd 2 Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
bbwd
So from that am I right to assume that document size is affected by how many artboards there are within the document? If I have three artboards sized at A4, the document size automatically gets larger to accommodate these. The important dimensions for the illustration are related to artboards rather than document size. Thanks for the reply. Quote He never fails to achieve new heights in being stupid... bbwd
Yep what I assumed is correct. Created a document at A4 then added multiple artboards and checked the document size and it had automatically changed to accommodate the artboards. Thanks MEB, your help is appreciated. Staff MEB Posted October 27, 2016 Staff Share Posted October 27, 2016 Yes, the document size reflects the area of all artboards on the page. You're welcome ^_^ Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
AuthorMedo
I am having the same problem. . . I am trying to change the size of an illustration to fit a very specific document size (not one of the presets) and when I scale the artboard using the handles it just cuts off my design (everything doesn't shift proportionately). File - Document Setup is also greyed out. Any help on what I'm doing wrong? Many thanks!

As each Artboard is essentially its own document, and each can be different sizes, trying to resize via Document Setup has no purpose.
