NotMyFault Posted April 30 Posted April 30 The current beta on iPad are extremely crash happy.2.6.3.3273 rendering stops to update correctly within minutes of usage. This is a general disease of all Affinity apps (including. Retail), the extend for this beta is far worse. Normally it affects layer state (inactive/active) stop to react, but it has become more severe as rendering for pixel layers or vector shapes stops to update, which I didn’t observe in retail or older betas. Brush preview stops, gradient tool handles no longer show, only the gradient itself is visible. all 3 apps crash after some minutes of usage, in any operation. No specific trigger or pattern can be given, except time of usage. I sent a few crash reports (automated), but as the same happens over and over again I stopped sending every crash. all might be elated to I’m using a 11“ iPad M1, and moderators often cannot reproduce my issues on their larger 13“ iPads. Affinity-Inspiration Posted April 30 Posted April 30 I’m using both an iPad mini 6, and an iPad mini 7(A17), ( and a Mac Mini M2, and an ancient Windows 10 Toshiba Laptop with a minuscule 8GB of RAM.) Try as I might, I can’t reproduce the problems mentioned here about random crashing, nor crashing after some minutes. I’m not suggesting for a second that “NotMyDault” doesn’t have these problems. Just that it’s not happening here on any of my devices. I don’t have an 11” M1 iPad. what can I suggest as an option? I did have a somewhat similar problem last year, or perhaps the year before where I had seemingly app related strange behaviours. Nothing solved it. Until. I reset the iPad Mini 6 back to factory state,(Wiped it) reinstalled everything from Backup as happens naturally. So I didn't lose anything. I reinstalled the Betas, and the Retail versions had all reappeared. As a result of this action from that point on all previous problems disappeared. Indeed it felt for a while as though I'd purchased a new iPad! The issues have not reappeared. Can I suggest that a similar action may be needed here? It takes a few hours of course but may be well worth it. ronnyb 1 Quote iPad Mini 6. 256GB. My GoTo design platform. M2 Mac Mini. 24GB. LG 4K Monitor. + Samsung Monitor 2. Windows 10 Toshiba. I do this factory reset about every second year, but refuse to apply on a more frequent basis. some legacy apps won’t get reinstalled, e.g. Affinity V1. The process to get them back is painful and changes over iPadOS releases. I store lots of forum related data local on iPad only. It is not valuable enough to pay for 100gb extra cloud storage, but it will throw me back when it get wiped i do not backup iPad. All valuable data is stored in cloud (except point above) Lots of fine tuning after fresh install, e.g. registering payment cards Crash happiness always comes back. Try to open the linked afphoto file in designer (touch / double tap). I get immediate crash.
