KoBu
I create occasionally an extensive frametext and want to arrange an object or a picture at the side. The object/picture protrude a little bit into the frametext. I think, in ADwin I have no reasonable chance at the moment, that the text flows automatically around the object/picture). In CorelDraw I can do this without problems (right mouse click on the object and choosing „flow around the frametext“) - see attached jpg. In my opinion this is a basic routine, that ADwin should master. Alfred
I hope I'm wrong, KoBu, but I suspect that we may only see text wrapping in Affinity Publisher. KoBu
Thank you Alfred, it will be difficult for AD to compete against CorelDraw and others, as long as such basic routines are missing. Petar Petrenko
Thank you Alfred, it will be difficult for AD to compete against CorelDraw and others, as long as such basic routines are missing. Corel is trying to be all-in-one app, but Affinity is one-by-one. So, this feature is more logical for Publisher than for Designer. Dave Harris
Can I ask what it is you are drawing that needs this? Designer is intended for illustration and user-interface design, and Publisher is intended for posters, leaflets and books. I appreciate Publisher isn't available yet, so people are using Designer for things which Publisher would be better for. As it happens, you can achieve the effect you want in Designer, by creating a text frame that is a rectangle with a bite taken out of it, but it's a bit clumsy. KoBu
Hi Dave, hi Petar, I’m not a professional user, it’s my hobby. Your tip „creating a text frame that is a rectangle with a bite taken out of it“ solves my problem completely. I draw a rectangle (or other forms), convert it to curves, convert it to a text frame, fill it with text, and with the node tool I can create various forms (adding further nodes, too). The text will follow automatically the form. WONDERFUL. AD is a very powerful tool. Therefore I would like to have an extra manual as pdf, to learn more about it. The videos are very good, but a manual would complement this very well. supplementary question: What means "0 warning points" under my picture? Alfred
OFF TOPIC : Many times I did multi page brochure, flyers in another drawing application from Serif, which support text wrap. :P That other drawing application only supports text flow, not text wrap. ;) Quote Alfred Affinity Designer/Photo/Publisher 2 for Windows • Windows 10 Home/Pro Affinity Designer/Photo/Publisher 2 for iPad • iPadOS 17.4.1 (iPad 7th gen)
Alfred
Oops! My mistake, Arun. I've no idea why I thought DP didn't have that feature!!
